The coffee table adjoining in the upstairs living room also pulls up for those easy eating nights on the couch. The living room is cozy with a soft couch and an oversized chair you will sink into. Sit back in the leather corner chair to watch the sun rise along the Mississippi River while you sip your coffee.

Our second stay at The BRD Nest

We stayed here for a week last summer and liked it so much we came back in the fall. Very comfortable home providing everything needed for a visit. Relaxing views of the river--especially the mornings and evening sunrises on the deck. Most likely we'll return next year!

Visiting family

Our parents grew up in Winona, but raised their four kids in California. The four of us kids spent a week in the area reconnecting with relatives and visiting the beautiful river towns in the area. We loved our stay at the BRD Nest. Beautiful views, Sullivan’s, birding, fishing, breweries, and great country roads. We’d stay here again!

Fantastic

This property has it all for a large group: several gathering spaces (indoor/outdoor/upper level/lower level), a well-equipped kitchen, five bathrooms (!), and a river view to die for. Super location: you can walk east or west to two great dining options if you don’t feel like cooking. The state park is also right up the road for outdoor recreation. There’s a delightful winery just a bike ride away, with musical entertainment on weekends. Owner Bridgett is quickly responsive. We had a fabulous time.

Still Batting A Thousand!

This is our second year staying in Bridgett's lovely home in the midst of God's Country. Another perfect stay, proving that last year was no fluke! Bridgett is an excellent host. The property had some upgrades since last year, including new outdoor furniture and fire table, perfect for cozy evenings chatting with the family. The place was spotless, the views amazing. There's always something happening to watch - a barge plying the river, a train going past, squirrels busy finding nuts for the winter. It's a great place to relax with family and friends and just chill! Thanks Bridgett! Have already booked for next year.

beautiful scenery all day, trains every 19 mins

beautiful house meet all of our needs for room. we had a little problem with ants in the guest bedroom. the biggest issue is the train that goes by all day and night about 100 yards from your window. the cherry was when they went from the north to the south, because there was 2 tracks on our side of the road, they blew their horn about 25,000 times. then the train on the other side of the river doing the same thing, it was dueling train horns.

Great location

The house is in a wonderful location, central to all our activities with great views of the Mississippi. We even watched a cruise ship go by! The house was clean, well appointed, with plenty of room for our group of 6. My main reason for the lower 4 star rating was because of the steep driveway. We came with touring motorcycles to ride the driftless area, and the toughest part of the weekend ride was going up and down the driveway. The driveway starts with a 14° grade and flattens out at the top. You must be careful in you approach or you will lose speed and can easily tip over. May not be best for the novice rider with a passenger, use caution or you will drop the bike!

We spent 75% of our time outside on decks...awesome river views, full moon from fire table deck and even thru windows in house. Bridgett and Drew were available for our few questions after we arrived. Kitchen had everything we needed including a griddle for our french toast. House was clean, linens good quality. Would definitely return.

We love this clean home with a fantastic view of the Mighty Mississippi! The hosts keep this home spotless, it is very well stocked and the huge deck is a delight to relax on and watch the fantastic sunsets. The only drawback could be the stairs for anyone with mobility issues. This was our second visit and we look forward to returning.

The home is beautiful and very functional. A lot of extra perks that did not go unnoticed - thank you. Plenty of room for 8 adults ages I8-83. We enjoyed the decks and the fire table. It was fun to sit on the front deck and watch the storms roll through. There are many trains that pass by, but we did not find this to be a problem. In fact, the men in the group enjoyed watching them as well as the barges that passed by on the river. Beds were comfortable and plenty of linens - much appreciated. Kitchen had every possible utensil you would want. Our family enjoyed our time there. I would recommend this home for your next stay.

We enjoyed our time on the front deck, watching the eagles and the trains. The barges being pushed by a huge tug was fascinating. The home was perfect for our group of five very-long-time friends - we especially loved the front deck so we could watch the eagles and the barges. The kitchen was totally stocked for our meager food preparations.

Terrific house overlooking the Mississippi, but no direct access to the river, which was fine. Able to view barges, a Viking cruise ship, and assorted other boats travel up and down the waterway. There is a lock & dam a few blocks from the house that's worth visiting. The house is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, bowls, silverware, cooking & grilling utensils. Additionally there were spices, coffee, tea, cooking oils & sprays, a jar of M&Ms, probably other things I'm forgetting. The beds were spacious & comfy; the bathrooms were good sized. One bedroom has two bathrooms. The side deck with grille & outdoor seating was large; the front deck with the riverview was narrow, but long. There were several indoor & outdoor games available, one being bean bags & boards. Shopping in the area was quite limited, but Holman (Holmen?) isn't far away and has more shopping/grocery store. All-in-all, it was a real nice place to stay. The only semi-negative is that the property is on a hill/bluff and, as a result, much of the yard is sloped & unusable. Beyond that, our stay was very pleasant and Bridgett was cordial, responsive, and helpful. Would highly recommend BRD Nest.

The location of the BRD Nest is unparalleled. The eagles greeted us every morning as we had coffee on the deck. The walk to either Perrot State Park or the city of Trempealeau is an easy trek. The home was extremely clean and the beds super comfortable. I would highly recommend booking this property for your vacation.
