Great spot to stay while exploring the Driftless region! Loved the location on top of the hill, with an easy drive down into La Crosse. The place was comfortable and the newer enclosed porch area was a particularly nice place to hang out. Thanks for a great stay.

From the owner: “I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, especially the new room! It was a labor of love for sure! Please come again!”
This cozy place was close to the parks that were were hiking and a midway place for our family to meet. It had everything we needed and communication with the host was excellent.
Although we spent most of our time enjoying the Driftless Area via motorcycles, the time we spent at our house was relaxing. The house sits off a gorgeous, winding road with amazing views. We drove up one side of the Mississippi and back the other, spanning MN, WI and IA. We had dinner at The Freight House and wandered downtown Lacrosse some. Great old school supper club about 20 minutes away. Laurie was very attentive. Thank you for helping make great memories!

Nice getaway!
The cottage was larger and more open than expected. Nice layout and location in the bluffs above the Mississippi River.
This property was a perfect middle ground for us to meet our friends and have a great weekend. Scenery and near by attractions are fantastic, our host was very friendly and communicative, and it was very convenient for us to be able to bring our dogs with us. Will definitely consider staying here again!
The cottage/property was clean, quiet, relaxed and lovely, as advertised. The perfect stop for the long weekend and not too far away from near by destinations. It was perfect for our small family and pup. Laurie was super warm and kind, appreciated all of the extra details and communication. Would definitely stay here again!
We stayed two nights and could sleep well because it was really quiet. We talked to the owner, she gave us a 1-hour DVD "Decoding the Driftless", and we viewed the documentary on the first night. The information was very helpful to explore and understand the area. We recommend the place and would like to come back. The host fee with "Evolve" is very high but this is not an issue with the friendly owner.

Peaceful & Private
We love the new 3-season room! This peaceful sanctuary continues to be our favorite getaway spot. So convenient to the highway and some great sites and restaurants but so secluded you would think you were off-grid in the wilderness. The cabin is well-stocked with necessities for cooking on-site too. The view of the valley (by the firepit) is spectacular and the tree-lined driveway is magical. We also loved the wall of petunias along the carport. Highly recommend!

A comfortable home away from home
We stayed 3 nights in this comfortable home. The bedroom was spacious and the bed comfortable. The living room has several choices to lounge in and curl up with a good book. The full kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and dishes. The yard looked inviting and quiet. There was nothing lacking in this house.
Absolutely stunning views of the Minnesota bluffs! The drive to the cottage is beautiful and it’s located super close to a few gorgeous outlooks! The cottage itself is just as beautiful as the view from the back yard! My dad and I fell absolutely in love with the place as soon as we got there and can’t wait to return. The property was clean and very well maintained. The communication with Laurie was great and she is an outstanding host! Thank you so much for such a lovely and relaxing stay at your beautiful cottage!
My adult son and I found this to be a great spot for our annual getaway! We especially loved the (almost completed) screened in porch and we spent a lot of time out there playing games, reading and having our meals. The location is right off Apple Orchard Drive (stunning!) and we found lots to do in the area. We also enjoyed watching the video on the Driftless region which the owner provided. My only note for others is that we were unable to connect to Wi-Fi at any time and ended up using our data. This wasn't a big issue for us, but it might be for some. Overall, a great find!
Had a recent stay at the cottage. It was wonderful. Laurie was a great host. She was very attentive and provided great communication. The cottage was so clean and cozy. Our favorite things were the new screened in porch and the amazing book collection. The beds were very comfy and the cottage had all the amenities we needed for our stay!
Our only qualm was the lack of cell/internet service which is out of the property host’s control. If you need immediate access to internet or cell service this is the only issue I could see.
My wife and I really wanted to enjoy our stay, because the area is beautiful, but some things got in the way. The first was that we was not given a code to lock the door upon arrival and we needed to leave right away. I reached out about a code, but didn't get a reply until the next day, so we had to leave our stuff in the house unlocked that night. The wifi did not work, there is no modem in the house to increase signal strength from where the router is (house across the driveway). This would help a lot in an area tough to get good service already. The privacy was a little lacking since the owner lives on the property in a house on the other side of the driveway. There are curtains to lower in unit, just not in the kitchen window, which looks right into the window of the other house. We were not aware of the host being on property from what we read in the listing. The last thing, there was a family of racoons living in the attic. This woke us up early in the morning and made it a very uncomfortable experience overall. I reached out about it to the owner, but received no reply back. The message was shown as read, just never got a reply. Again. we wanted to enjoy our stay, but there were just too many things that added up for us.

Hi James, we passed your review on to the homeowner, who would like to share the following:
-I am truly sorry to hear that there were obstacles to your full enjoyment of my guesthouse. I take great pride in maintaining good communication with my guests and respecting their privacy. In response to your feedback, I am planning several improvements: adding a shade to the kitchen window, ensuring the door code is included in my pre-arrival text messages, and updating my listing to clarify the proximity of the house.
-Additionally, I have been addressing the red squirrel issue, which I believed was resolved last month. Despite previous measures, the problem persists, and I am now considering installing overhead doors on the shop side of the building to prevent further issues. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further, as I am always eager to learn and improve.
-Thank you for choosing my guesthouse. I hope you will consider staying with us again next year, especially with the upcoming fiber optic improvements.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review!
This is a beautiful property in a great location. The owner has thought of everything and is very communicative. We highly recommend staying here.

ANNUAL MISSISSIPPI RIVER FALL GETAWAY
This is a cozy cabin with comfortable beds in both bedrooms. This cabin is geared toward any person with disabilities. Our host Laurie went out of her way to accommodate our needs. She purchased an entrance ramp which helped my wife (in her scooter) get over the threshold of the entrance door. She purchased a raised mobile toilet which my wife used at her bedside. She had a shower transfer chair that worked perfectly! New carpeting in the living room and bedrooms was great! The gas stove/fireplace was a nice touch at this time of year. This cabin is perfect for 4 persons...plenty of room for two couples. Laurie also purchased for us a helium filled balloon saying "CONGRATULATIONS" ..... we were celebrating my sisters 50th wedding anniversary and my brother in laws 83rd birthday.....as well as our 45th anniversary. We had a great weekend and we would stay here again.
This is a very cozy cabin out in the driftless area nestled in valleys and rolling hills (just beautiful) with comfortable beds in both bedrooms. Laurie went out of her way to make sure our group and especially my disabled wife had all that she needed. The ramp for getting over the entry threshold worked great! The added toilet chair was most welcome also.....as was the shower transfer chair. It is hard to find places that will accommodate persons with disabilities. This cabin is great....and the host was friendly and very easy to work with. We will be back!!!
