When I came across this cottage in the summer of 2021, I knew that it would not have made it through another Adirondack winter. The roof rafters were sagging, the walls were leaning outward and the interior was destroyed and open to the weather.
Although it would have been less expensive to tear it down and start over, I would not have been allowed to build a new home in such close proximity to the Hudson River. So, treasuring the location of this dilapidated cottage being virtually on the Hudson River, I committed to rebuilding.
By way of background, I started my career in 1978 as a union carpenter apprentice, then went on to restore a number of historic homes, build new home and land development. So while this project was far from my first venture, it was nevertheless a little daunting to realize how much renovation the little house needed.
Once the mechanical and structural work were complete, I decided to indulge in some extra nice interior finishes: antique beams from an old covered bridge, built in china rack, Turkish tiled backsplash, antique tub and sink for the bathroom, stained glass transom and knotty pine woodwork.
The riverfront cottage is now good for another hundred years.
Come enjoy this unique space!

Why they chose this property
Located almost directly on the Hudson River, the cottage offers a pretty little grassed beach where you can slip right into the water. Years ago a family who rented the cottage moved hundreds of rock to create a wall in the water, slowing down the current and making it safer and easier to swim in the pool of water upstream of the wall.
What makes this property unique
Downtown sweet North Creek is a short walk from the cottage --- sidewalks most of the way and mostly flat.
