About this property
Entire Auntie Franther House with large backyard
Minimalist, elegant, and spacious house in the heart of everything. Being centrally located from downtown or the harbor makes this space the perfect spot for travelers that would like to access this entire quaint town on foot. You would be waking up to incredible views of the mountains all around the property. Additionally, Mount Marathon is only a block away, a strenuous but extremely rewarding hike that’s an institution in Seward and a legend around Alaska!Inside the Auntie Franther house, we have created an elegant and serene sanctuary, combining furniture by world-renowned designers and curated artifacts by locals. We keep adding more and more pieces as we discover them locally.
This renovated property is divided into two units - The main house and the master suite. You are renting both the main house and studio in this listing. The master suite has a separate entrance that is ideal for people who are traveling with friends or family with different itineraries. The layout of the property is such that it will provide you with privacy for taking daytime naps but also has a large enough living space so that you can gather with friends or family to play games, watch TV, cook meals, or otherwise visit.
The space is blanketed in natural light when you want it, with adjustable room darkening shades throughout to mitigate the midnight sun. The views from the open-concept kitchen and living room look out to pristine views of Mt. Alice and the secluded backyard opens to Mt. Marathon.
There’s an open fully-stocked kitchen space with ample room for hosting group dinners. The dining area has a Franke Acacia solid wood dining set with seating for six and two additional stools at the open Island/cooktop (which is where we typically eat when we have friends over). In addition, the detached master suite has a small kitchenette, a mini fridge, and a Keurig coffee maker.
There is a full bath that includes both a shower and a tub off the main living area. It also comes with complete laundry facilities. Plus, the detached master suite boasts an additional full bathroom.
The three total minimalist-style bedrooms are a private and relaxing retreat from the sensory overload of your days spent exploring the outdoors. Additionally, there is a secluded loft off the living room perfect for being able to rest and recuperate while still enjoying time with your party.
The bedrooms feature a total of 3 queen-sized beds, 1 twin-sized, and 1 full-sized bed with sports mattresses and pillow tops that are proudly made in the USA. These mattresses are specifically chosen for the perfect Alaskan adventure since they feature layers that rapidly contour to your body and are engineered to relieve pain-causing pressure points. We also have organic cotton & linen bedding as well as black-out shades to block out the midnight sun in every room, making it an ideal setup to recharge and reboot through the night after a full day of exploration.
There is also a spacious and private backyard available for intimate gatherings in the heart of this laid-back town. Plus, there are two parking spots available in the front and 1 spot in the back of the house
