Great cabin that over and over again exceeded our expectations. Perfectly remote getaway to relax and enjoy ourselves. Driveable to many things to do if you like small towns, caves, and hiking!
We came to hike the Shenandoah and explore nearby caverns, and this place did not disappoint! The weather didn’t cooperate so we didn’t get to test out most of the outdoor amenities, however enjoyed the cozy home and games that were supplied. A short drive into town to get anything needed, this was just what was needed! Thanks again!
Great little spot in the mountains. The outdoor fire pit area and hot tub were well maintained. The house is cute but needs a little maintenance to match the picture quality.

Ok for a hunters cabin maybe but not kept up at all like the pictures show, owner was responsive to messages and did refund partial funds due to us only staying 2 nights rather then the 5 that was planned, no funds refunded that VRBO charges him to list his place, if it were myself I would have taken a slight loss and took care of it. Owner was very receptive to hearing feedback on the condition of the place and has things to work out with the hired cleaning company for the place and updates needed to equate to the pictures posted in the.

Our stay at Anthony's cabin was a tale of two stays. There were some significant positives, but there was a glaring feeling that the property has been neglected over the last few years.Positives:Space is nice and cozy.Beds were nice and comfortable.Kitchen is well appointed. The fire pit.Deck is tranquil with a nice view down into the woods.Relaxing sound of a running stream down below the cabin.Location is is private and peaceful.Owner communication was fast.Negatives:Property exterior and the hot tub are in disrepair and need attention.Hot tub was unusable (badly damaged/worn cover and water was dirty. NOTE: Owner said he is ordering a new cover this week.Through no fault of the property owner, a limb fell and took out the lighting around the fire pit.No exterior lights worked.Coffee pot did not work.Left casement window cannot be used (needs repaired)Hair in the bath tub (not cleaned?).Water has sediment in it, so bring your own drinking water. Bring your own paper towels and septic safe toilet paper. The deck is nice, but the cleaning crew left trash in the can on the deck. It was probably raccoons that got into the garbage can and dragged trash all over the deck and down into the woods. The cushions for the chairs were very dirty.Overall, we made the best of it and had fun, but it definitely was not what we booked based on the online pictures. This could be a fantastic property, but it needs some attention. Hopeful the owner will address the issues.
Rusty’s retreat cabin overall was a cozy experience. Some things to point out:As we arrived we noticed the patio wasn’t very clean and that the hot tub was filled with dirty yellow water. This however was addressed by our great host Anthony. He immediately contacted someone to come out to clean the hot tub and fill it with new water. He felt so bad with our experience that he also partially refunded us. His communication was excellent and we are very grateful for him.The outdoor sight is gorgeous and you are surrounded by lots of tall trees. The campfire pit was a very nice edition and we used it everyday. It was nice grilling on the patio too. The cabin indoors was also very comfortable as well. We recommend staying here and again are grateful for our host Anthony being so attentive.
This gorgeous little cabin was absolutely perfect for our short getaway! It's a quick (and lovely) drive to Shenandoah National Park and other attractions (highly recommend Old Hill Cider close by). Would absolutely stay here again.
PS - Keep an eye out for the local deer...they are not afraid of people!
We enjoyed this remote stay near New Market. We used it as our base station for hikes at Shenandoah and local historic battlefield visits. The hot tub was a nice bonus after a long day of hiking.
We had a very pleasant stay at Rusty's Retreat. It's a great place to relax for a few days with a small family or group and the family dog. The hot tub and outdoor firepit were particularly fun. When we had questions, host Tony always answered very promptly. Thanks again!
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Rusty’s! Beautiful area, gorgeous view, great location & even better local events/things to do.
We swapped our annual beach camping trip this year for the cabin & I think this will be our new annual trip!
The owners were amazing, communicative & helpful with any of my questions!
Roads will test you but it felt like living in Germany again-loved it!
Cute space well maintained and relaxing. Thoughtful touches like toothbrushes, an extra lighter, bottle of wine. The hot tub was so nice during the chilly nights. AllTrails got us to Yellow Cliff Mtn overlook which was a great day hike nearby. Thank you Rusty's for a sweet birthday retreat away from the DC chaos.
Not a complaint but tip for sensitive skin folks- glad we brought our own sheets and an extra towel from home as I'm allergic to scented detergents.
We loved our stay at Rusty’s retreat. We felt out of the way enough to disconnect and enjoy the peace of the mountains. We visited Shenandoah National Park and loved out stay. Thank you for sharing your home!
The house was cute, clean, and well stocked. I had an issue with the keurig and the owner was nice enough to bring over a brand new coffee maker. It’s very secluded. We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
Definitely it’s a place to get away from the hectic life of the city. We really enjoy staying there. A short drive to the town which has a lot of history perfect place.
