About this property

Cook Inlet Inn in Anchorage

Stay away from the tourist scene for a unique local Alaskan experience but everything is only 15 minutes away! Walkable to local resturants and coffee kioskis. Alaska Railroad Train comes right through the neighborhood! Perfect safe neighborhood for dog walkers and families with a park 2 blocks away with a full jungle gym, tennis court, sitting/BBQ area and sunset view of the inlet! Relax in the midnight sun with our huge 1000 sqft community deck space with separate seating areas and a grill. Plenty of parking. Excellent wifi for remote workers. Dog friendly!
This is a house that has been uniquely remodeled into 3 private units. You will have other people possible being on a different floor. Just keep that in mind when booking. It is NOT the entire building structure to yourself. Our place is pet friendly, with approved pets. Additional fees may apply with pets. Please message me for details.
The Unit
This particular unit is on our bottom floor basement area of our home with kitchen, washer and dryer, bathroom, bedrooms, and living space. Your stay here is more than just a place to rest your head. You will have coffee, fully stocked laundry supplies, and extensive kitchenware. We have plenty of parking for you to have guests as well.
The Neighborhood and Surrounding areas
The south side of Anchorage is the hidden gem location for those who like to live like a local! Walk just up the street to a diner (South Sife Bistro) or coffee kioski. Safeway/Carrs grocery store is 30 seconds away via car! Same with banks, gas stations, some fast food stops, local resturants and more. I have been told this is very convenient from past guests who like to cook from home.  We are located on the very edge of town, going South out of Anchorage to places like Girdwood, Portage Glacier/Whittier, Kenai, Seward and Homer. If you plan on heading south on your Alaska adventures, trust me when I tell you being on the edge of town really helps with getting ahead of traffic from everyone in town! The famous coast of Cook Inlet Alaska is just minutes from our home and is a beautiful scenic view of our mountains and reflective bay. It is truly a site to see! Walk to Oceanview Park with a full jungle gym for kids, tennis court, sitting bbq area and open space for dogs. An addtional entrance to the park has a nice sunset view of the bluff.  You will see and hear the Alaska Railroad train down 2 neighborhood blocks from the house! The neighborhood is known for many joggers, dog walkers and extremetly safe.
I would highly suggest getting a vehicle or plan on taking tours. While the 49th state does have transportation companies like Uber and Lyft to get you around town, it is short on ride accommodations that can take you affordably down the beautiful highway system. Alaska is just so big, with over 600 road miles from one end to the other, if you wish to tale in the scenic beauty, a rental car far outweighs the public transportation that is offered to take you out of town.
My vehicle is listed on Turo for my guests! If it is available, I would be happy to accommodate you with transportation to make your stay as stress-free as possible. We also have great hikes and trails in the mountain terrain just minutes from our house, I would be happy to fill you in on all the details!

Visiting family
We thoroughly enjoyed the place. Everything we had wanted. Our trip was to visit our son and family who live in area. I was delighted to find a place so close that felt homey. Carolyn was very responsive to questions. Very good communications. Definitely would stay there again

Anchorage
We stayed in room A on the bottom floor. It was super easy check in, beautifully decorated and super clean. They got back quickly to us with a few tv questions which I appreciated. Location is close to stuff for walking to also. It is a multi unit house so we did hear the footsteps from people in the unit above us, but it was not bothersome at all. Loved our stay! Thanks

About the host

My husband and I live on the 3rd floor with our little dog Luigi. I am available for questions at anytime by phone call or a knock on the door! I love to socialize with my guests! It is what I love most about Airbnb and being a host and Co-host! In the summer months, the deck and fire pit is a great place for us to hang out and let you know about local places to check out that are hidden gems from the tourist traps. I also LOVE being a tour guide for my guests to make sure they have the best possible experience while they are here in Alaska.
