Room was nice but there was a big problem that I never anticipated.
This is a review of a 1 bedroom suite in Myrtle Beach, SC. I think the unit had been recently painted and updated. I could see evidence of a few older things but overall the room was very nice. Never in a million years did I think to ask about/make sure it had window blinds or curtains. It had none. There was no way to block out street lights at night or the sun at about 5:30 a.m.😳 I also had concerns about privacy. I could see where blinds had originally hung. The little hooks were still there. I contacted the vrbo representative and was told the room only had curtains that could be pulled closed. Well, it didn't. I was then told someone would come in after 10 a.m. the next day to address the issue. No one showed. After several more back-and-forth communications I was told the owner chose not to have any window coverings. My husband and I started looking at all of the windows in our resort as well as others. They ALL had a window treatments. One comment I got was that they (vrbo rep) was sorry I didn't notice that there were no window treatments in the pictures. Really??? Who thinks to double check that? It's like making sure there's a flusher on the toilet. In my opinion, if you rent to other people you should have window treatments. It's just common courtesy. I have pictures of the room at night to show how much street light came in. I also have 5:30-6:00 a.m. pictures to show the amount of sunlight flooding in. Don't get me wrong, I love natural light. Just not at 5:30 in the morning while I'm on vacation. I had concerns about privacy as well. You could clearly see in other rooms at night if they didn't have their blinds closed. I felt like my concern wasn't taken as seriously as it should have been. And it was my fault I didn't see the absence of window blinds in the vrbo pictures. Had it not been for this issue I would have given all 5 stars. But again, I was made to feel like I should have noticed there weren't any blinds. So, if you like being exposed to the world, trying to sleep with bright street lights, and waking up at 5:30-6:00 every morning whether you wanted to or not, then this unit is for you.
