The Isabella - A stunning historical adobe condo in Barrio Viejo
The Isabella is an inviting, warm and cozy one bedroom adobe condo in Tucson’s Barrio Viejo or “old neighborhood”. Her charms include Saguaro cactus rib ceilings, thick adobe walls and brick paved floors. She is located in the Ochoa Court condo complex dating back to at least 1888. Cook yourself a gourmet dinner in her old meets new kitchen, lounge in the intimate back patio, relax and stream some movies in the desert chic living room and sleep well in the luxurious King Bed with memory foam mattress. This adorable historical condo is located within walking distance to downtown, the SunLink Streetcar to U of A, local brewpubs, coffee shops and restaurants including easy walks to 5 Points Cafe, the Meyers Cafe and lounge, and the Coronet. New to VRBO, but our first guests wrote...."The Isabella is stunning inside and out. It is beautifully furnished with everything you could need. ....We enjoyed relaxing on the back patio in the evening with snacks and cold beers."

This is a beautiful neighborhood and a beautiful home. I would stay here again. Walked a short ways to transit lines and went where I needed to go easily.
Beautiful row house home in the heart of 5 Points! Love the outdoor areas, designated parking, and all the kitchen amenities. Outstanding host to boot!
This is our second one month stay at The Isabella. The home is lovelier than the pictures and very comfortable to be in. The location is so fun. We enjoyed walking to town, going to historic sites, and the restaurants and galleries close by.
Up and coming nice little neighborhood. Extremely well apportioned small house with great king size bed. Perfect for 2 person getaway. Easy check in, easy drive to all of Tucson. I highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a central Tucson stay.
All good, well equipped kitchen, even sharp knives, Weber grill on the back patio. Comfortable king-size bed. Recommend without any reservations and would stay there again.
Beautifully decorated home within 1 mile of downtown Tucson and many restaurants and museums. Kitchen is very well stocked handy washer/dryer if needed.
The Isabella is wonderful! Perfect place for a weekend stay! We enjoyed the place as it was like our own place! All the little touches make this the best place for your money! Will definitely stay again!!
This is a very charming place to visit!! The home has so much character, the location is great for restaurants, and the owner did a wonderful job of thinking of everything u might need!
It was comfortable, clean, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The manager was great to deal with and very responsive. It has a lovely courtyard. We enjoyed walking in the neighbourhood. Overall, it exceed our expectations.
The home could not have been more charming. EVERYTHING that you could want was provided, down to coffee and Loofahs for the shower. It was just charming. We had to check in early and the host/owner could not have been more accomodating. It was a a wonderful stay. The only hitch was that the Smeg Oven/Microwave was not intuitive and was hard to figure out but other than that, I would highly recommend this charming home.
We have nothing but rave reviews to share regarding our stay in this lovely Barrio Viejo casita! John and Jennifer were excellent hosts and quick to respond to any questions. The property was immaculate, easily accessible and so very appealing in decor and comfort. The courtyard and gardens are so pretty and well maintained. A special thank you to neighbor Michael, who was so helpful and hospitable. We have every intention of making this our first choice of lodging in Tucson!
The place was cute, comfortable and literally had everything we needed. There was a selection of teas and coffee available. Also snacks and some great basic staples. The water filter in the fridge was a nice touch. We used it constantly. Quiet street and a good location.
The only thing I would mention is if you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs since the trains run at night.
A sound machine is provided in the bedroom.
I think I did this previously. We needed directions for Washer/Dryer/, television, microwave. We thought the unit was too cluttered and used space we might have used ourselves. We used the patio and did leave doors and windows open and turned off the AC and only turned it on one night. Screens be nice although no insects ever came in.
Check-in: there was a little mixup and didn't receive my check-in instructions/codes. But the homeowner was immediately responsive and extremely apologetic. She rectified the situation ASAP and all was well!
The house - I am obsessed with historic houses and neighborhoods. This cute little adobe was perfect. I didn't use the TV or living room area, as it was just me and I'm more interested in roaming around. The kitchen has absolutely everything in it you'd need. For coffee lovers - there is a coffee pot and french press. For tea lovers (ME!) there was a SMEG tea pot! Cute area set up in the kitchen for tea/coffee. plenty of utensils, potts n pans, ettc. I didn't cook as I like to eat local. And Tucson is a UNESO Gastronomy city - so you have to eat local lol! The bedroom is located in the back of the house - really comfy king bed. Bathroom is sufficient. Water is hot! Nice shower. W&D included - the dryer is loud. Adorable patio out back.
The neighborhood "barrio" is walkable and I felt safe. I walked back from downtown many evenings in the dark and never felt unsafe. (Conference center is approximately 10 mins walk) If you love architecture - roam the neighborhood and take in all the beautiful colorful homes! 5 Points Market & Cafe is a 5 mins walk. Delicious.
To other areas of Tucson, it was an easy drive to 4th ave for shops & food; Gates Pass is 15 mins away - must do for sunset!
The only negative: the bathroom - I did do a quick wipe down and clean.
Loved it here
Darling space, beautifully furnished with everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable! Very clean all over and instructions were helpful and clear. It is on two levels, one significant step to the bedroom, which was a little difficult for me. Otherwise our stay was perfect!
The Isabella is an absolute delight. It is impeccably designed and very comfortable. I highly recommend this property!

I am so happy to introduce myself! I've lived in Tucson for over 35 years and absolutely love the Sonora desert. I have raised my five children here and am so happy to wake up every morning to the beautiful sun and mountains. I love hiking Tucson's varied hiking trails and have just started mountain biking. There is so much history here with wonderful restaurants and plenty to do outdoors.
Why they chose this property
Dating back to the late 1800's, the Isabella has such charm and unique historical features that it felt like a place I'd like to stay as soon as I entered for the first time. The Saguaro rib ceiling and thick adobe walls offer the experience of staying in an old adobe home, but with modern conveniences. While the Isabella is cozy at 850 Square Feet, each room is spacious and inviting. Finally, I really enjoy evenings spent on the back patio, grilling and just enjoying the Tucson nights.
What makes this property unique
The Isabella is located on a quiet street with historical buildings all around. I really enjoy walking my two dogs around to see the sights. The food in the neighborhood is terrific, Coffee at Exo Roast Co., breakfast at Five Points Market or the Meyer Avenue Cafe, dinner at the Coronet, El Minuto Cafe or Cafe Desta. She is also an easy .7 mile walk to the light rail taking you to the University of Arizona campus. Continue a couple of blocks on Cushing Ave and you are right in the midst of Tucson Gem Show activities. As a cyclist, I can be on The Loop (one of America's best bike paths) in a mile, go climb the "A" mountain, road bike Gates Pass or ride the extensive MTB trails in Tucson Mountain Park. Finally, when I'd rather just sit and reflect, Parque De Orlando y Diego Mendoza is right on the corner next to Ochoa Court.
