Sweet Queen Retreat in Downtown Los Olivos.

This well-designed apartment with its private coded entry offers comfort and convenience whether you want to stay in and relax or take a quick walk to the town's renowned wine tasting scene just a few minutes away on foot. Inside this sweet studio you'll find a welcoming lower level queen bedroom and two separate raised areas: one with a tub/shower combo bathroom and the other a lounge area with a convenient counter and sink area including a mini fridge, microwave and a full stash of coffee-making equipment including K-Pod. Much of the art and furnishings were designed and handcrafted by the hosts incorporating deconstructed oak barrels to give it a one-of-a-kind wine country feel.

Outside you'll enjoy the peace and quiet of our lush back yard relaxing under the shade of two gorgeous mulberry trees in a semi-private outdoor sitting area complete with a mini propane fire pit for those chilly valley nights. While the hosts live in the front house and sometimes walk through the back yard, guests will typically have it to themselves - especially in the evenings. Feel free to wander out by car to enjoy the beautiful rolling hills of the surrounding Santa Ynez Valley and all it has to offer (wineries, casino, hiking and biking and Solvang "The Danish Capital of America" to name a few). Your dedicated parking space will be there when you return so no need to hassle with the limited parking in town. To make your stay extra special we like to bake delicious treats for our guests!

This was the perfect spot for our stay! We were able to walk everywhere in town we needed to be for the wedding we were attending at The Inn at Mattei's, and at a much more budget-friendly price. The room was exceptionally clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed and plenty of room to relax between exploring town by day and evening cocktail parties. Absolutely recommend!

This charming efficiency apartment was perfect for our stay, clean and comfy, and within walking distance of everything in town! Our host, Mia, was fantastic with suggestions for wine tastings and restaurants. She and her husband Brian even hung out with us for a wine tasting and dinner one evening! Fantastic experience! Exactly what we were looking for! Mia was a wonderful host and even made us delicious blueberry scones for breakfast and gave us warm chocolate chip cookies just out of the oven as a welcome treat! Highly recommend Casa Rivera for a weekend getaway.!

Mia and Bryan Rivera are your hosts at this family property where Bryan spent his youth. Delighted to be back caring for the property, they are making it available for visitors to enjoy its ideal location in the heart of Los Olivos. When not preparing for or greeting guests, both like to collaborate on crafting art pieces from deconstructed wine barrels, found metal objects and anything that can be turned into something new and visually intriguing.

Why they chose this property

Acquired by Bryan's Aunt Diane nearly 50 years ago, the property boasts a main house and two well-designed apartments which were originally built to provide homes for other family members. More recently the income generated from renting the studios has enabled her two nephews to support her cost of living at a nearby residential care facility. When Mia and Bryan met in 2012 and began dating, he was living in the upstairs space after having just retired from a long career in the military, so this place holds many special memories for the couple.

What makes this property unique

They say location is everything and this property definitely is in an ideal location for those who want to have easy walking access to all that Los Olivos has to offer. No need to worry about where to park or having to drive after too many tastings. And with the high priced hotels being almost the only in-town single room offering, this space offers parties of two an affordable way to hunker down in town and let it all go. The hosts have taken great care to create a clean and comfortable space with a pleasing color story to create a peaceful and memorable stay. At night when town closes down, the outdoor seating nook makes for a relaxing way to wind down the day with a little wine and a cozy fire.
