About this property

Bitter Creek Villa Suite - Hilltop Oasis—hot tub & free kayaking

Your private guest wing of our home faces due east, with windows onto magnificent sunrise and sunset views toward the Sedona red rocks. This hilltop oasis is watered by a small spring-fed creek, and features a peaceful koi pond. Enjoy the stars from the hot tub!

The guest suite is attached to our home (like an in-law unit) but has its own private entrance. We live in the main part of the house. There’s a cozy living area (approx 15’ x 11’) stocked with snacks, games, books, 42" TV with Dish Network, Netflix, etc...: everything to make your stay comfortable.

Breakfast bar (in living area) includes mini fridge with small freezer, a sink for washing up, microwave, toaster oven, electric skillet, toaster, coffee and tea service. This is not a full kitchen but suited for making breakfast (e.g eggs, pancakes), sandwiches or simple meals. A gas grill is also available.

Double-sink bathroom with standard tub/shower. Both bedrooms feature custom closets with plenty of storage space, and unique wicker sleigh beds. Portacrib is provided for families with small children.

Two patio areas, just outside your door, are yours to enjoy: an outdoor couch with a fire-pit under the shaded porch and a loveseat next to the hummingbird feeder.

The real star of the show, though, is our one acre of quiet country living, where you can relax on green grass, under mature shade trees to the sounds of running water and birdsong. Feel free to roam around the property and enjoy the gardens. Two hammocks are available to relax in.

We have two kayaks available for your use at no extra charge. The Verde River is just minutes away. If you want to go kayaking AND it fits my schedule I will transport you to the river and pick you up when finished. If we happen to be gone on vacation when you come then this won't be available. This is beginner kayaking. Very easy and fun! Takes about 2 hours max.

Away from it all
Had spent the past 2 weeks hiking in Utah. Wanted a place to rest and relax and this fit the bill perfectly. Andy took us to the river to kayak and picked us up. Perfect out of the way place but close enough to Sedona if you want that. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and Peaceful
What a beautiful property! The house was comfortable and private. It’s attached to the main house but has a private entrance. We had the whole yard to enjoy and explore. A small creek runs through the yard, relaxing hammocks hang from the trees, koi pond around the back, hot tub to view the stars at night, hummingbirds and quails all around. And the VIEW!!! Wow, just spectacular! The house was super clean and very comfortable. There’s coffee, granola bars, a parking pass for Sedona, plenty of towels and fresh linens, a cooler, games and more. The owner is super nice and responds quickly. Sedona is less than 30 minutes drive and Jerome is about 5 minutes up the hill. Cottonwood is less than 10 minutes away or you can just stay on the property all day, relax and enjoy the view! Truly an amazing experience!

Excellent Retreat!!
Our hosts were very helpful and friendly from booking, through to checking out (and after when I thought I left something). The location is close to town but sitting up a bit above in a quiet little enclave of homes. We were wowed by the incredible panoramic view looking across the valley toward the rim where Sedona is. Incredible sunrise/sunset from living room window and from the great large yard with grass and shade trees!! There's a comfortable bench just outside the door, and chairs in the yard to choose seating. We had fun watching a very active hummingbird feeder hung outside the living room window too. There's a beautiful pond with koi behind the house but we hung out in the hammocks the most, enjoying the relaxing sound of babbling water flowing by from the pond. We were also thrilled with the amazing dark night sky of stars (even staring up at the Milky Way straight above). The indoor accommodations were set up great! Comfortable, clean and really nice decor in all the rooms, nice extra touches of pillows and throws, plus a nice collection of books, games, puzzles and so forth. The kitchen space was equipped with the right items for what we needed short term. All in all a very perfect stay!! The town of Clarkdale has a incredible copper museum telling the story of the local copper mine in Jerome (a few miles up), and amazing collection of gorgeous copper ware and functional copper pieces. We also enjoyed the Tuzigoot ruins only a few miles away, and Violette's French Bakery in town is fantastic!. The Brewery had great listening music we enjoyed. Andy and Kay were great to offer suggestions, tips and insights of the area - so helpful and great people! We hope to stay again, and take the Verde Valley train ride (depot is right in Clarkdale by the river), plus this location is close enough to head for Sedona adventures. Absolutely loved this listing... highly recommend.

About the host

Hosted by Andy Bruner

Host profile image
My wife and I lived in the South Pacific for over a decade before settling in Duncanville, TX in 2007. With our four children grown and gone, we love to travel, and often use Airbnb ourselves, having wonderful experiences with hosts all over the world. Our favorites so far have been in Italy and Ireland. In 2021 we moved to Clarkdale, AZ and are enjoying the great outdoors and figuring out where to find the best queso, fajitas, and margaritas!

Why they chose this property

Our property stands out from others due to a small spring-fed creek (from an old train tunnel) that runs through it. This just doesn't happen much in Arizona! Due to the creek water we have luscious green grass, a koi pond and fruit trees.
