Enjoyed another wonderful stay at Algonquin Whispers which has become an annual tradition. Our granddaughter and fiance joined us this year for the first time and loved it.
Amazing location! We could stay and play on the lake all day. The enclosed porch was a great place to relax. It was obvious we were renting someone's home, though - no frills, clean but a bit cluttered. The private access to lakeside was worth it though
This house has the most beautiful views. It has its own dock, and several kayaks. The screened in porch is wonderful. When I had a question, Brian responded to me within minutes. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it for families.
We appreciate the variety of watercraft and had fun canoeing and kayaking at the end of the beautiful lake where we saw families of ducks and beaver swimming. The big screened-in porch was especially good for watching the rain during our stay. And what would our time in the Adirondacks be without roasting hotdogs and making smores over an open fire. Algonquin Whispers has it all!
We had a wonderful time at the Murphy's cottage. The variety of watercraft was great for our family, from a child's kayak for our youngest grandchild, to the paddle board/SUP for our teenager and the canoe for us. And everyone had fun on the floating foam raft—a new experience! The beautiful high screened in porch surrounded by trees was a special place to be in all kinds of weather. We enjoyed many meals outside, and what ADK family vacation would be complete without cooking Smores around a campfire! We appreciated the firepit, ADK chairs and two picnic tables. From the deck overlooking the lake, I loved watching the sunrise in the early morning, the moon rise at night, ducks swimming by and even three otters one early morning! Having two ADK General Stores within a few minutes of the cottage made it easy to get a few needed things as well as ice cream cones on a hot afternoon! Brian was very responsive to all our questions. We hope to return next summer.
Our family had a wonderful time at this location. It was an ideal getaway for people looking be in a remote location. The screened deck and deck overlooking the lake were perfect!
Great week away from home to relax and boating! I'd definitely stay there for another week!!!
Well maintained and many upgrades to the home to make it comfortable!
Lake was small enough to keep the traffic down while boating but big enough to enjoy yourself! Great deck going down the stairs to the lake that has a place to relax and look at the scenery!
Awesome screened in porch that had plenty of room for the whole family and very inviting!
Great week and great time at this cabin and I definitely would stay there again!
The owners of this beautiful lake house couldn't have been more accommodating. They wanted to make sure that our family enjoyed our time together, and strengthening that family bond is what is most important. The owners clearly get this fact and value it.
The lake house is conveniently near attractions of all sorts: waterfalls, mountains hikes, beaches, good restaurants, and more. Lake George and the Adirondack Experience Museum are easy drives to reach. Both offer plenty to do for a day trip.
The lake house itself offers plenty of activities, such as swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, board games, campfire activities (s'mores and ghost stories), grilling, and simply enjoying nature on the lake.
Awesome location right on the lake. Very relaxing, loved the deck overlooking the lake, spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the view. House is spacious and very homey feeling. Everything you need is there and you feel at home. Loved our time here.

Family time
We enjoyed time with our family with direct access to the lake. We love the town of Wells, as it is ATV friendly and there were some small hikes close by to enjoy with the kids.
This property is nice with beautiful screened in porch and outside deck area. We used the kayaks, canoe, and fire pit. It was cold a few of the nights so we also used the wood stove in the living room.
Brian was easy to communicate with and good about answering questions and making sure we were set.
We’d stay here again.
We had a wonderful weekend here. The location was perfect, we had lake access, access to kayaks and canoe, and were close to other towns for shopping and restaurants. The home was clean and accommodating, perfect for the 5 of us.
Well kept house with ample room for our family of 5. We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the canoe, kayaks, and SUP daily - followed by lots of swimming and a campfire every night. The view from the new deck was amazing!
This was our first experience in the realm of renting a house and was completed during the Covid19 pandemic.
Brian, the owner, was fantastic. He did a great job of communicating before and during our stay.
The outside was great. There is a beautiful deck overlooking the lake. Our family greatly enjoyed taking advantage of all small boats available (2 kayaks, 1 stand up paddle board, and 1 canoe). It was fun traversing the lake, and also relaxing reading a book on the deck.
The house has been remodeled a couple of times and was plenty large for our family of 3 (there was certainly room to be able to accommodate a couple more children). The fact that there was central AC was very refreshing. Anywhere we go we appreciate having access to the outside world via internet and the house had a good connection that allowed us to bring our Roku and stream shows. Additionally, we found it nice to visit the enclosed screened room in the evening / night to play games.
Algonquin whispers was a great cozy place to stay with our family of 5! Brian, the owner, was extremely helpful answering all my questions (I had a lot, sorry! 😊) He even overnighted my daughter's tablet that she forgot! Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need. The screened in porch and new deck over the water were gorgeous and where we spent most of our time! The blow up raft was nice to lay and relax on and there were enough boats for all of us to go out together on the lake. We saw 2 bald eagles the first hour we were there. Lake is peaceful. There is a little public beach within walking distance or 1 minute drive but not too close to the house to disturb you. We couldn't rent a pontoon boat on the lake but Lake Pleasant is a 10 min drive away and we rented one there in Speculator which is a quaint, cute little town. Had everything you would need: grocery store, pizza place, couple ice cream places, coffee shops, restaurants, liquor store, public beach, playground, and a great souvenir shop (Speculator dept store). We were lucky to see a 2 man band singing right by Lake Pleasant one night at sunset, it was so cool and beautiful. Something to be aware of is the only bathroom in the house is upstairs which wasn't a big problem for us (except for my broken toe) but might be for others (like my parents). Having AC was helpful too and rare in most places we rented. There were 2 charcoal grills there which added to the camping experience, food just tastes better over charcoal! The fire pit was great and overlooked the lake! We fished off the dock, caught perch, pumpkin seeds, and sunnies mostly! The views were just fantastic everyday! Thank you Brian for everything, had a great time, you made it easy! Take care!

Loved the hikes and vistas
A cosy, compact house. We were very comfortable and favored the deck area most of all, as weather permitted.
Brian was very helpful about the activities in the area and having use of the kayaks was fun.
