About this property

Cox Homestead

Enjoy the atmosphere of the 50s but with modern amenities in our late model camper. With 50s inspired decor, a queen bed in it’s own room and bunk beds, this is a great launching point for a family vacation. Located at the Cox Homestead, you are not far from the action.

Sevierville-8 miles
Pigeon Forge-14 miles
Gatlinburg-24 miles
Knoxville-23 miles

The camper allows you to get away from the traditional hotel experience, and be surrounded by nature in a scenic environment.
The space
Although this is a camper, it won’t feel like camping. Amenities include:
A/C
Flat screen TV - rabbit ear reception
Full bath
Queen bed
Twin bunk beds
Kitchen
Games
Outside fire pit
Outside picnic Table

The camper is surrounded by farmland and breathtaking views. We are located minutes from tourist attractions, hiking trails, and Douglas lake.
There is room for kids to play and run around outside. The camper does sit on a busy road, so please keep a close eye on your kids.

We, the owners, live on the property in close proximity. It is a working farm, so we are often out doing chores. Please feel free to ask questions, but know our time must be respected. If you have questions about the homestead please consider scheduling a homestead experience.
Guest access
There's two entrances to the property. Parking is in a gravel parking space to the right of the camper. There is a sign labeled "Guest Parking."
Other things to note
Farm tour available with additional Homestead Experience purchase. It is $30 for one hour per family.

Minimum age for booking our camper is 25. Driver's license photocopy required upon booking to verify.
A signed contract is required before your stay. A contract will be emailed after booking. You will electronically sign the contract.
Key is kept in lockbox near the camper. You will be given the lockbox code prior to arrival.
Some differences found in a camper vs a traditional home:
Water heater is sufficient, but smaller, so multiple showers back to back may have to wait for more hot water.
Stove is propane, which has a pilot light to start. Electric griddle is available.
Height in the bedroom area is about 6 feet.

A Nostalgic Experience
We knew it was going to be a unique experience just by the listing, but I was not prepared. As soon as we opened the door we were hit with '50's-'60's music from a local radio station that perfectly set the tone. The place was very nicely appointed with everything you need for a stay. The whole thing was well thought out and executed. Communication with host was great. The place was immaculate. Very clean and tidy.

About the host

Hosted by Laura Cox

Host profile image
Hello! My name is Laura Cox. My family and I enjoy all things homesteading and hospitality. We raise rabbits, chickens, cut flowers, fruits and veggies on our 5 acre lot. We sell flowers and produce on a self-serve stand on our property. I desire to show others how simple life can be when they get back to the basics. We hope that you'll come visit and relax on our homestead.

Why they chose this property

We moved to this piece of property in 2019 when we outgrew our half acre plot in Knoxville. We fell in love with the beautiful rolling hills all around us. We also love how close we are to the "party" without being in the midst of it.

What makes this property unique

Our home and rental is located just 1/2 mile off the parkway that leads to Sevierville, Piegon Forge, and Gatlinburg. We are just 2 miles off interstate 40. We find our place to be very convenient for all our needs. We live to visit Seven Island Bird Park, Doulas Lake overlook and beach. We enjoy picking up Arby's and taking our dog for a picnic/walk by the Lake. Our Favorite Mexican Restaurant in the area is El Machete.
