The Space:
A quiet ridge wrapped in woods, where crisp mountain air drifts through tall windows and evenings settle in with the soft glow of string lights and a fire close at hand. Snow-dusted mornings invite slow coffee moments indoors, while nights are made for soaking under the stars and listening to the stillness that only a remote mountain setting provides. This is a place to unplug, gather, and ease into the rhythm of the season.
The space
Hummingbird Ridge is a newly renovated four-bedroom cabin designed for relaxed group stays. Step through the red front door into a large living area with high ceilings and expansive windows that bring the outdoors in, even on colder days. The pellet stove adds a cozy focal point for evenings, while electric heat and window A/C units keep the space comfortable year-round. A Smart TV and WiFi support movie nights and video calls, with a reminder that speeds may vary due to the cabin’s peaceful, remote location. A dedicated workspace in a private room offers a quiet spot to focus when needed.
Sleeping arrangements
The cabin comfortably sleeps up to ten guests across four bedrooms. One bedroom features a double bed. Two bedrooms each include twin-over-queen bunk beds, ideal for families or mixed-age groups. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds. Bed linens, extra pillows, and blankets are provided to keep everyone comfortable through cooler nights.
Bathrooms
Guests have access to one newly renovated full bathroom along with an additional half bath located upstairs. Bathroom essentials are provided for convenience.
Kitchen & dining
The kitchen is fully equipped and set up for preparing meals together after a day of exploring. With ample counter space and seating nearby, it’s easy to gather indoors for shared meals, or a relaxed breakfast before heading out.
Outdoor spaces
The large deck, accented with string lighting, offers a scenic place to step out for fresh air. The hot tub remains a favorite in colder weather, perfect for unwinding while steam rises into the night air. The private backyard is open and grassy, though not fully fenced, and includes a children’s play area and space for outdoor games when weather allows.
Location
The cabin sits within easy driving distance of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, known for scenic hikes and seasonal beauty, and is about twenty minutes from Bryce Resort.
Perfect for
Hummingbird Ridge is well suited for families, friends, and small groups looking for a pet-friendly mountain retreat with room to spread out, reconnect, and enjoy a quieter pace. Whether you’re gathered around the pellet stove, soaking in the hot tub on a cold evening, or enjoying the calm of the surrounding forest, the cabin offers a comfortable base for a Shenandoah Valley escape.
Note
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but because of the natural mountain setting, you may still notice leaves, pollen, or other outdoor elements—especially in certain seasons. Nature has a way of leaving its mark, no matter how often we tidy up.
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Wi-Fi is available, though due to the remote location, service may occasionally be slower or spotty. We recommend downloading any essential content ahead of time, just in case.

You can not beat the tranquility of this secluded spot in the mountains. And the owner's communication was fast and efficient. The bed was super comfy and the view of the stars at night was sublime. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Thanks again for staying with us. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. :)
It was surprising what the cabin did and did not have. It was better than most as far as cookware, kitchen supplies, shower supplies and so forth.
It was under supplied in tea towels (for a week of cooking), electrical outlets near mirrors (to style one's hair - no outlet in the bathroom) and no dresser, closet or even a luggage rack in the smallest bedroom. Linens were nice.
We enjoyed use of the deck grill, fire pit and hot tub and grilled and cooked daily.
It is pet friendly but no gates are on the porch. They say to bring your own baby gates (2) which we do not have. I would've rented 2 if they made that an option.
We had a blast zip line riding and my 10 year old grandson could not stop taking pics at Luray Caverns. Fantastic place.
My favorite pants badly snagged on a rough spot on the deck .
Some safety issues exist. The steps up from the driveway to the deck steps are unsafe and steep. We are retired, not young, and my husband has 2 ribs still healing from a past injury. He had to drag two ice chests and one large suitcase up those unsteady steps to the deck steps.
The lose stepping stones up to the hot tub are dangerous for children and adults.
The deck around the hot tub is to narrow to safely uncover and cover the tub. Narrow deck exists at the tub entry.
Two chairs were broken. The rocking chair inside; we reported quickly. It was not repaired during our stay. A lovely wooden deck chair was also falling apart.
The shower curtain is hung to low and drags on the shower floor. Another fall risk .
We will return to the area one autumn; when my youngest grandchild is big enough to zip line on Mamma Bear. They will want to see Luray Cavern again. We will look for a different cabin. A safer one.
realyly wanted to take the kids on a weekend adventure so we rented this great chalet with brand new hot tub and fire pit. updated furniture and fully-stocked kitchen was the perfect place for a weekend away. It's really close to Bryce resort and not far from major attractions.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was bigger than expected and the rooms were nice. Communication with the owner was easy. The hot tub was an added bonus. AND, the firepit in back was nicely setup.
My family and I had such a lovely time! We had a lot of fun star-gazing and sitting around the bonfire while make s’mores! Tony is the best; super responsive and took time to check on us as well!
Perfect if you have a group of friends that just need an escape. The cabin is great, the fire pit is very nice, and it’s secluded enough where you have a sense of privacy.
Thanks again for staying with us. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. :)

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Hummingbird Ridge in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
