Evenings drift into a calm glow as the pellet stove crackles and the hot tub steams against a backdrop of budding trees. Here you can truly unwind, reconnect, and let the rhythm of spring set your pace.

Kitchen & dining

The fully equipped kitchen provides ample counter space and a nearby dining area for shared meals, coffee, or a relaxed breakfast before heading out. A Smart TV and reliable WiFi support movie nights and video calls, though service may vary due to the remote setting.

Outdoor living

A spacious deck, accented with string lighting, invites you to breathe in the crisp mountain air. The hot tub remains a favorite, offering warm soak under a sky brightening with spring clouds. A fire pit with seating encourages evenings of s’mores and stories, while a BBQ grill stands ready for outdoor cooking. The grassy backyard includes a children’s play area and space for games when the weather permits.

Location

Nestled near Mount Jackson, the cabin is a short drive to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, where scenic hikes showcase seasonal wildflowers. Bryce Resort lies about twenty minutes away, offering year‑round recreation and local dining options.

Perfect for

Families, friends, and small groups seeking a pet‑friendly mountain retreat where dogs are welcome but cats are not due to allergies. Whether you gather around the pellet stove, soak in the hot tub on a cool evening, or explore the surrounding forest, the cabin provides a comfortable base for a Shenandoah Valley escape.

Additional notes

Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but natural elements like leaves and pollen may still be present, especially in spring. WiFi is available, though occasional slower or spotty service can occur; we recommend downloading essential content ahead of time.

You can not beat the tranquility of this secluded spot in the mountains. And the owner's communication was fast and efficient. The bed was super comfy and the view of the stars at night was sublime. I enjoyed my stay very much.

It Is What IT IS.

It was surprising what the cabin did and did not have. It was better than most as far as cookware, kitchen supplies, shower supplies and so forth. It was under supplied in tea towels (for a week of cooking), electrical outlets near mirrors (to style one's hair - no outlet in the bathroom) and no dresser, closet or even a luggage rack in the smallest bedroom. Linens were nice. We enjoyed use of the deck grill, fire pit and hot tub and grilled and cooked daily. It is pet friendly but no gates are on the porch. They say to bring your own baby gates (2) which we do not have. I would've rented 2 if they made that an option. We had a blast zip line riding and my 10 year old grandson could not stop taking pics at Luray Caverns. Fantastic place. My favorite pants badly snagged on a rough spot on the deck . Some safety issues exist. The steps up from the driveway to the deck steps are unsafe and steep. We are retired, not young, and my husband has 2 ribs still healing from a past injury. He had to drag two ice chests and one large suitcase up those unsteady steps to the deck steps. The lose stepping stones up to the hot tub are dangerous for children and adults. The deck around the hot tub is to narrow to safely uncover and cover the tub. Narrow deck exists at the tub entry. Two chairs were broken. The rocking chair inside; we reported quickly. It was not repaired during our stay. A lovely wooden deck chair was also falling apart. The shower curtain is hung to low and drags on the shower floor. Another fall risk . We will return to the area one autumn; when my youngest grandchild is big enough to zip line on Mamma Bear. They will want to see Luray Cavern again. We will look for a different cabin. A safer one.

Nice Chalet in convenient location

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was bigger than expected and the rooms were nice. Communication with the owner was easy. The hot tub was an added bonus. AND, the firepit in back was nicely setup.

A very cozy cabin

Perfect if you have a group of friends that just need an escape. The cabin is great, the fire pit is very nice, and it’s secluded enough where you have a sense of privacy.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Hummingbird Ridge in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
