We had a great stay. We were looking for a quiet, secluded spot to spend the week as a family and we really enjoyed this property! The hot tub was relaxing, the wildlife was great, and the home was cozy. We traveled to Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, Buc-ee’s, Massanutten Water Park and Monticello. All attractions were 45 mins- 1 hr 45 mins away from the cabin- depends on what you’re interested in doing.
We really enjoyed staying at this property, it's a wonderful and cozy spot and it's just what we needed to recharge. It's quite secluded, so bring whatever you may need (groceries, etc). The drive into town is only a few miles, however the steep hills make the trip take longer than you might think, especially if it's raining or otherwise precipitating.
This cabin was excellent. The view is incredible and I will definitely book it again.

Nice home, nice property. Access to the property was challenging in a sedan without 4 wheel drive, but doable. Recommend 4 wheel drive. House needs a good airing out (musty smell) and deep clean. Living room furniture is stained and worn. The only TV is in the main bedroom. Not a big deal for a couple but might be uncomfortable for a family or group. We did not use the kitchen so can’t speak to supplies, appliances, etc. Enjoyed the hot tub. Unfortunately, it was very wet and foggy during our stay so we really couldn’t see the mountains, but did enjoy the deer that visited a few times.
Very nice property and responsive host. Gravel path in neighborhood and driveway can be tricky if you do not have AWD (Honda CRV did fine on rainy days in spring). Access to Shenandoah is 30 minute drive away
We had an incredible stay at this amazing mountain cabin for my wife’s birthday getaway. The setting was peaceful and scenic, with a cozy yet comfortable cabin that had everything we needed. The hot tub was a highlight, perfect for relaxing under the open sky, and the fire pit made our evenings warm and inviting, even though rain cut one night short. The road to the cabin is steep and gravelly, so I strongly recommend a truck or SUV with good ground clearance. It adds a sense of adventure and makes reaching the secluded spot feel all the more rewarding. The surrounding area offers plenty to explore, from scenic hikes to plenty of local breweries. While attractions require a bit of a drive, the experiences are well worth it and make every outing feel like part of the adventure. Our host truly made the experience exceptional. They were friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was smooth and memorable. Their thoughtful touches and attention to detail made us feel welcome from start to finish.Overall, this cabin is the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure, and outstanding hospitality. It’s an ideal choice for anyone seeking a mountain escape, and we couldn’t recommend it more.
The house was adorable and cozy! We loved the big open kitchen and island so we could set up some big puzzles. Both rooms were comfortable and we slept well. The cabin was close to attractions in Stanley and Luray when we wanted to venture out.
My review is based on my experience staying at similar properties. The location was great, and the view was beautiful. I gave the property 4 stars because there was no option to give 3.5 stars. Here are a couple of things I believe the host should work on to improve the guest experience:The HVAC system: The air vent in the bedroom was extremely noisy, making it difficult for me to sleep during both nights of my stay. The living room vent also blew air directly and forcefully onto the sofa, making it very uncomfortable to sit there for more than a minute. The hot tub: I would recommend replacing the hot tub with a newer, more modern model. The control panel did not work properly, and the filtration system did not appear to be functioning either. The jets were weak and worked in only two of the four seating areas. Overall, I would rate the hot tub 5 out of 10.There were also a few other things that could be improved, but the issues mentioned above had the biggest impact on my stay.
Our stay at the The Whispering Hillside was perfect! The home was everything we needed for our family vacation --- would definitely come back and recommend to others.
We had a lovely weekend away. The property was well maintained, the openness of the house and interior were nice, and we enjoyed the deck, fire pit and hot tub. We would stay there again!
The cabin was situated in a secluded mountain setting, exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was perfect, cozy with all the amenities needed. This was the perfect getaway place from the demands of everyday life. It was perfect, absolutely perfect.
Beautiful house and area. Loved the layout of the kitchen. Internet service is spotty, but is expected for the secluded area. Overall a great experience.
