We had such a peaceful and relaxed weekend. The views of the lake were stunning. We did smore's by the fire pit while watching the sunset every night. The neighbors were so nice which was a plus. My kids could not stop chatting to their friends about our stay. We are planning on booking this fall again! Thanks Analee
We had a great time at the lake. Sunsets, fishing, swimming all of it. We used the neighbors canoe to take the kids to the little islands and they loved the adventure.
If you are looking for a place to completely forget the frenzy of every day life & reconnect with nature, family and/or friends, THIS IS IT….from the coziness of the cabin, playing board games, evening fires at the firepit, coffee on the deck watching the sunrise, fishing off the dock, watching the blue herons soar over the lake…what an amazing week we had ! Analee has thought of everything to equip the cabin with & the cabin certainly felt like home….so much so that we have already reserved a week for summer 2022 !! Thank you Analee for sharing your little red cabin with us, can’t wait til next year !!
Our stay at Analee's Little Red Cottage on the lake was just what we needed! Quiet and relaxing with a lovely (sunset) view of the lake. The cottage is rustic (what I prefer in a cottage), comfortable and with everything you'll need to make special memories. Analee was very responsive and pleasure to communicate with. When leaving the cottage my 4 year old grandson said, "goodbye lake, see you next time!" We all felt the same way, and long to return next year!
My family and me had the best vacation ever! This house had so many things, the kitchen was fully stocked, they even had games and books and everything you would find at home!
The views were like we were in heavenhere in this lake, never have we ever had a more beautiful vacation!
We can't wait to rent this place next year!

The views of the lake with the changing fall leaves were spectacular. The cottage is basic and cozy. We brought books and fishing gear and an iPad to watch movies. The WiFi connected easily and stay connected .
Communication with the owner regarding check in and location went smoothly .
We had no issues while at the cottage so had no need to reach out with any questions .
It was an easy drive to go exploring towards Freeport , York beaches and Kittery .
We found a flea market right next to two antique shops only twenty minutes away in Arundel.
The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay.
Beautiful spot on the lake!
Nice quiet place to stay. No problem getting there. Everything was as advertised with one exception. Info provided indicated that we had to bring our own bedspreads but bedspreads were already available. Good communication with owner. Place provided the pleasant and peaceful setting we needed.
We were so delighted by our stay at the Little Red Cottage! Our kids took the lake like ducks take to water. Serene views of sunsets, roasting marshmallows at fire pit, dining with family on the deck, playing board games and most of all... enjoying relaxation with loved ones. Memories to last a lifetime!

Solitude at its finest!! What a wonderful place to stay!!
This is definitely one of our favorites places so far!! What a wonderful mini vacation on memorial day weekend....We couldnt have aske for a better stay. Everything was excellent, very clean, plenty of room for this family of 6!! We didnt spend much time inside bc there was so much to do. Kids spent most if their time swimming, while I took to Estes Lake and fished the day away. Fishing was phenomenal. We look forward to visiting again next year.....God bless.

Quiet and beautiful rustic setting!
My wife and I stayed at the Little Red Cottage for four days after our son's wedding to rest and relax before heading back to Minnesota. We loved the beautiful setting and found the cottage to be everything we needed. We appreciated being by the lake as well as the proximity to the ocean.

Lovely cottage, beautiful view!
What a great place! Very roomy cottage with three bedrooms, and room to sleep at least 8, although there were just the two of us. The house was clean, and the owner was very anxious to solve any issues we had. (Analee is great!) The lake is beautiful, and there is a small beach with a dock and a floating slide for the kids to play in the water. There is also a small boat with life jackets and fishing gear if that is your desire. Our grandchildren loved the place - it's close to town, with shopping available within five miles or so. We recommend it highly!

The cottage was cozy, clean, and had amazing views of the lake.
When we arrived the cleaning crew was just finishing up. They were courteous and friendly. The cottage was very clean. It rained the entire time we were there but the large windows and sliding doors provided wonderful views of the lake and the vacation was very relaxing. The porch was especially nice. The beds were comfortable. We'll definitely be coming back.

This cottage is perfectly placed on the lake! Absolutely loved everything about this place. 10-15 minutes away from Shaw's and Walmart which was very convenient. Also the seller was so nice and made everything so easy! I will absolutely be going back here!

Lakefront bliss!
If you want seclusion on a lake this cottage has it! Absolutely lovely Estes Lake. My kids loved swimming, kayaking and fishing in it. The best part was it was very quiet and we felt we had the lake to ourselves. The sunset on the lake in the evening was lovely as well. There is a wonderful elongated dock that is not shown in pics that allow access into lake. There is also a very large deck. The home was about 25 min from Kennebunkport. The cottage was fine for the 4 of us. There is a list of things you need to bring that the owner informs you of when you send your deposit in. There was no cleaning service so we had to clean ourselves upon departure in order to receive deposit back. Which was not a big deal. But if you don't want to clean while on vacation, you may want to inquire. It would be nice to have a deeper professional cleaning in between renters as when we arrived it was tidy but could've have been a bit cleaner. The kitchen utensils could also use a bit of updating. Overall, we did have a wonderful time due to great weather and lake access.

A small piece of tranquility
Have you ever want the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere on a serene picturesque lake; but know that you 5 minutes from many amenities and 15-20 from charming Maine seaside villages? Than this is the place for you. The owner goes out of her way providing you with a wealth of information regarding the property and surrounding areas. The cabin itself is charming and gives you a warm feeling of being home. The large deck overlooking the lake is perfect for your first sip of coffee in the morning, to having a beer or glass of wine while the sun sets over the lake. If I could give the cabin more stars I would, it is the perfect location to find peace with nature and be centrally located around Southern Maine's hot-spots, ranging from outlet shopping on Route 1 in Kittery, seaside villages of Kennebunkport to Portland's bustling food and craft beer scene. With easy access to Route 1 and Interstate 95 you can get anywhere in the state with ease.

I love this place.
Our family has been going to this home for three years. It is right on the water which you can't find with newer camps. Our kids love the slide and dock. We also take the rowboat out to the island and look for blueberries. The fishing is great right from the dock and we got a "huge" bass. The owner is lovely to work with and we have never been disappointed.

A little piece of heaven
If you are looking for a comfortable place on a lake.... THIS IS IT!. It has a large, railed deck overlooking the lake with a nice gas grill and plenty of furniture. The raft is attached to the dock, so you can slide into the water. They have a row boat and inflatables for the water and wood for the fire pit. The swimming area is gradual and has a sandy bottom out quite a ways. They've thought of everything. The kitchen is well stocked, there are games and puzzles for a rainy day. We loved the open living/dining/kitchen area where we could visit, cook, dine and relax all together. It has a washer and dryer. The owner sends a great list of required items like linens and suggested items to bring which fills in for anything they don't provide. The cottage is located on a quiet dirt road culdesac great for bike riding with areas of woods to explore. Even though you are in a quiet, relaxing area, there are department, hardware, and grocery stores, mini golf, movie theatre, ice cream stands, and much more within a 15 minute drive. You are also within 25 to 30 minutes of the many Wells beaches, in case you wanted to go to the ocean for a day. For golfers the Sanford Country Club is within 20 minutes and the famous Links at Outlook, South Berwick is within 30 minutes. If you have a private plane, the Sanford airport is also within a 15 minute drive. You are also less than 1 hour from Portland and less than 1 1/2 hours from Boston if you wanted to take in some sites or museums. The White Mountains of New Hampshire are also less than 2 hours away. They say location is everything, but this has that and SO MUCH MORE.

20 mins away from some beautiful places
Enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Saw all types of wildlife, our favorite was the blue heron that visited the beachfront area. Kids caught fish all evening- bass & crappies. We brought kayaks and paddled around every day- the view here is really quite spectacular. 3 little islands out in front of cottage were exciting for the kids to explore. Felt very remote as well, but Walmart was just 10 mins down the street. The cottage was clean and had what we needed. The bedrooms have no "ceilings" - post and beam through the place, so we could say goodnight to eachother right from bed. Visit to Ogunquit was the highlight of our trip- tubing down the tidal river as the tide went out & walking the Marginal way. This was a great home base for us to sight see southeast Maine. If we had stayed at a resort the kids wouldnt have been able to kayak and paddleboard, fish & explore. It was nice to have them away from television and electronics for a week! Enjoyed our stay! Thank you

We didn't want to leave!
The cottage is charming yet spacious enough for a large family gathering. Seven adults slept very comfortably in the cottage. The owner was very accommodating and it was a pleasurable experience dealing with her. The pictures on the website gave me a good idea of what to expect when arriving, however, we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the cottage, lake, and amenitites are in person. The view of the lake is breathtaking and experiencing sunset on the deck is serene. It was too cold to swim so we didn't get to use the slide : - ( but we did row the john boat to explore the lake. It wasn't cold enough to use the stone fireplace inside the cottage : - ( but we did sit around the outside firepit discussing urban legends! There is a screened gazebo with plenty of chairs as well as a large open deck for entertaining. The lake is steps away from the cottage - there was no need to leave the property if you didn't want to. Upon arrival I bought groceries at a Super Walmart less than 3 miles away and then never needed to leave the cottage for anything else. I didn't feel like cooking one night so we ventured out and had the best pizza at Sanford House of Pizza. My family enjoyed our stay and our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. Would I recommend this property to a friend or relative? - Absolutely! Would I return? - In a heartbeat!

About the host
Hosted by Analee Wulfkuhle
I am a California transplant with New England in my soul. The cottage has been a wonderful place for respite and family fun, especially when my kids were younger. I am fortunate to have many Maine friends, including a couple who has stayed at the cottage for over ten years!
Why they chose this property
After vacationing for 4-5 years on Lake Estes, I snapped up this cottage when it became available. It’s been such a fun retreat for my family and friends, and I love sharing it with others when I can’t be there.
What makes this property unique
Our go-to activities: swimming; exploring the islands (a 200 ft swim from the dock); biking to Kennebunk/Kennebunkport; fishing from the rowboat (my son’s first fish is mounted in the cottage!); brunch in Portland; playgrounds in Kennebunkport; York beach with the penny arcade and salt water taffy; lobster boats and artsy shops & theatre in Ogunquit; movies at the Portland Art Museum. And of course, Shane’s of Maine ice cream!
