Historic 'Cottage at the Cove' at Lover's Point - Your Home Away From Home

Cottage at the Cove is a lovely recently refurbished 1884 vintage Victorian located just steps from Lover's Point park and beach in the Retreat District. The oceanfront recreation trail leads you to the Point Pinos Lighthouse to the west and the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row to the east. The wonderful Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is just around the corner. A 3 block walk to town will find you in the midst of Pacific Grove friendliness: shops for any and all necessities/frivolities, antiques and curios, grocery store, pharmacy, banks, bookstore, delightful restaurants and bakeries, library, museum, art galleries, historical gardens, various parks, and the four screen movie theater. Pacific Grove is a town without stoplights, still! Park your car at the cottage and enjoy Pacific Grove by foot.
Cottage at the Cove's broad sunny front porch with wicker furniture is the perfect spot to begin the day with coffee or tea. The charming rear garden is intimate and lovely.

Everything is wonderful about Barbara’s cottage! Close to the ocean, downtown, restaurants, etc. it’s a hidden gem that we love to return to every year. And Barbara is a dream to work with!

Wonderful, homey stay! One could make a Thanksgiving Dinner in the kitchen with all the spices, beautiful plates, wine glasses etc on hand. She thought of absolutely everything one would want not to mentioned all the wonderful books to read in addition to the information on the area. And the bed was very comfortable! We spent 5 days there and if we ever returned to the area, most definitely would stay there again. Of mention as I'm not sure it was stated but there is only off street parking. As we visiting in early October, it wasn't an issue for us however in the busy months given the beach is close, I could see it being an issue.

Great Visit!

We stayed at Barbara's cottage for a week and loved it! It was very clean and comfortable and close to all the places we wanted to go. Communication with Barbara was easy and effortless. We would definitely stay again!

Fabulous!

This was a repeat visit for us simply because we LOVE this cottage! The location is fantastic for easy walking to the beach, trails, downtown shopping and restaurants! The cottage feels like "home" and has everything you can possibly need! Highly recommend this property!

Great Visit!

This is our second time staying at Barbara's lovely cottage. We can't say enough good things about it and the host. The cottage is so cute, and the kitchen is very roomy. Love the fireplace in the living room and best of all is sitting on the front porch and watching deer walk by. We didn't want to leave!

Cottage by the Sea

This cozy, light-filled 1884 cottage is just a block from Lovers Point in Pacific Grove so we were able to walk along the sea every day accompanied by egrets, pelicans and harbor seals. Even walked to the Farmers Market, restaurants and museum. Our host Barbara was so thoughtful and easy to communicate with.

We loved our stay at this lovely cottage.

We loved this clean, comfortable cottage. It was so close to everything we wanted or needed to do. I am really picky about staying somewhere clean and this was not a disappointment. The furnishings, kitchen appliances, comfortable bed, clean well kept bathroom and laundry all contributed to a great home away from home stay!!! We will come back. Thank you Barbara.

Wonderful gem!

The cottage is perfect - the kitchen has everything you could need. The Owner has thoughtfully provided a selection of bags and thermoses for while you're exploring. The library has all the John Steinbeck books you still need to read (and many other books as well). The proximity to Lover's Point is a definite plus.

Beautiful cottage near Lovers Point

Just returned from a 4 day/3 night stay at this well appointed cottage. Barbara was so easy to work with and allowed us to have an early check in and late checkout. Perfect location just a block away from Lovers Point. We walked the beachfront, golfed at Spanish Bay and Pacific Grove, visited the aquarium, Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. PERFECT location that was near everything while also being quiet and peaceful. We would highly recommend this cottage. Thank you Barbara!

The most amazing place!

We stayed two weeks at Barbara's cottage in PG. We were there to visit our kids and for work. We loved every moment of our stay. Barbara was welcoming and answered any questions immediately. The cottage was super set up - warm, welcoming and fully stocked with everything we could have needed. The location was only one short block from the most beautiful coastline and beach and only one (or maybe two) short blocks from amazing restaurants and shops in historic PG. We absolutely loved sitting on the front porch and chatting with neighbors as they walked by. We were so comfortable; we could have stayed forever! Thank you so much. Charming Cottage

We really enjoyed staying at this cottage. Everything you need without the pretension that goes with a more “glamorous” place. The cottage had beautiful art and books to read while you are there. Tastefully done. Great place to relax for the most part. The only negative was people staying near us partying to all hours of the night. However that in no way can be controlled by the owner or manager. They did a wonderful job.

Quiet, Clean & Peaceful

We’ve stayed here numerous times and it is always such a great place to stay and Barbara is the perfect host as she is always readily available if needed. The house is in very short walking distance of the beach & crashing waves & the Beach House Restaurant is also very close by with superb food & with tables looking out over the ocean. Barbara has guest passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium so we always visit there & then enjoy the wharf & other attractions of Monterey. The house is very cozy with books and antiques and Barbara keeps “The Cottage at the Cove” well-stocked with essentials. This is about the most stress-free, easy to stay in place we have even been. Quaint little cottage in a great area

The house is quite comfy. The bathroom is a little small, but we managed. The front porch is a nice feature. I even witnessed a female deer and her two babies came walking past the house while sitting on the porch. The location of the house is perfect. A quiet street, only about 2 blocks to the Ocean View Blvd where we are able to access the pedestrian/bicycle trail very easily. It's about a one mile walk to the aquarium on the trail. Once we parked our car, we never used the car except for the day we drove to Carmel. Walking to restaurants on Lighthouse Avenue made it very easy to find delicious meals.

Cottage at the Cove

Barbara's Cottage at the Cove is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Monterey Peninsula area. The cottage itself was charming, clean and well maintained and had everything we needed to make our stay a very pleasant one. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a nice note from Barbara. The aquarium passes were a bonus as we had never been to this wonderful attraction in the 5 years we've been coming to the area. Barbara was so easy to communicate with and very accomodating. She even sent us an item we'd left, along with our damage deposit refund. We would definitely give the cottage a big thumbs up and a five star recommendation to anyone who is luck enough to be visiting Pacific Grove in the future.

A Good Choice

Life is full of choices and staying at this lovely cottage will force you to make lots of them. For instance, which pretty dishes should you set on which table? Should you relax on the porch, in front of the fireplace or watching the birds out the kitchen window? Then there are the book choices, staying for a year might give you a chance to exhaust the library. Those decisions happen when you stay IN the cottage. Open the door and there are more choices. Will you walk to the water's edge, the aquarium, a restaurant, a shop, a bakery or a local market? Finally, you could even decide to drive to wander nearby sights. Are you getting the picture? It would be a good choice to stay here, but it would be a much better choice if you could avoid the dates when we hope to come back!

Classic PG cottage

The floor is a bit higgledy-piggledy, but that's part of the charm of an old cottage. Very quiet neighborhood. No earplugs needed! Very well equipped. Very clean. There is a natural gas heater in the dining room, and another natural gas "ambiance" heater in the entrance room. Turn the overhead fan on, and you'll be very comfortable.The bathroom is in the back, so it gets a bit chilly. Turning the electric heater on a few minutes before a shower takes care of that. The best part is how many things are within walking distance --- the ocean, a grocery store, restaurants, take-out places. Even the. aquarium is within reach. We parked our truck and didn't touch it for days. Super-fast internet (300+ mbps). Thanks, Barbara, for a memorable stay. We'll be back.

This was our fifth stay at the "Cottage at the Cove." We always feel so at home and comfortable while staying in this beautiful historical cottage. We enjoy sitting on the front porch, sipping our coffee and green tea, listening to the sounds of the seashore. Lovers Cove is less than a five-minute walk away. We look forward to our return!
