My first impression was I thought I was at the wrong home. Too nice! The place was beautiful inside and out! Looked like it was just built in the last year. Directly across the street was the beach that had very good snorkeling and plenty of coral formations. Not a fluffy light sand but a darker denser volcanic rock sand. Easy walk-in from the Sandy Beach. Just under 20 minute walk down the road were larger and more well-known Coral and rock formations. You can see this all clearly from the surface or dive down and get a different View. Found two resident black and white lionfish along with a large school of very friendly zebrafish.I would have loved to have given this place a five-star review but unfortunately could not. I was woken up and kept up by the owner's many dogs five out of the seven nights I was there. I have traveled to similar Islands and fully expect to hear roosters at any time of the night along with possible neighbors dogs. I did complain after the second night and had two quiet nights after and then it came back. The owner did offer to let me leave early but with the late notice there weren't many other options locally. It would have cost me quite a bit more and I would have lost all the food I had bought to cook for myself along with the hassle of packing and unpacking again. I did choose to stay

Thank you for your lovely comments on the Cottage. As to the issue with the dogs for other readers, perhaps some clarification is required. At the time of your visit there was a dog on heat, hence every male dog far and wide visited the area. This then upset all the other dogs, of which there are many in the area, ours included, which for everyone resulted in lack of sleep. This is Fiji and people do keep multiple dogs for a variety of reasons, which unfortunately are not always looked after well! I did explain this to you at the time and was happy for you to relocate. You choose not to relocate as you said that you were aware there were other dogs further along at the places that were available to fit your time frame. I am happy to report that this is not an issue at the moment and the only barking at night is done for security reasons. I do hope your time in Pacific Harbour went well and you enjoyed the diving.

We have been travelers for many years and now enjoy the beautiful Fijian lifestyle here in Savusavu. After having visited the Western side of the Fiji Islands some years ago, when we were looking to relocate to somewhere warmer, Fiji was the destination of choice. We made the decision to share this lifestyle with travelers who, like us, love to enjoy more of the Country they visit, other than the Resort lifestyle frequently available. We choose Gingerbread Cottage to be able to offer the real beauty of Fiji to like minded travelers to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

Why? This property is very cute, charming, and unique. Originally built along the concept of HRH Princess Margaret’s Mustique holiday villa 'Les Jolies Eaux', naturally it now has a Fijian twist. It is light, airy, well equipped and offers stunning views across the Bay. There is good snorkeling directly opposite the Cottage all with a gentle and welcoming vibe. It is the perfect place to simply unwind and be.

What makes this property unique

Gingerbread Cottage is located on the edge of Savusavu Bay, close to town but not to close and has ease of access to Flora Botanica, Kokomana, for chocolate lovers, the local bus service and seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables. Excellent snorkeling of a high standard is just a short walk to Split Rock, a well known site, as well as the waters in front of JM Cousteau Resort. The lifestyle is that of the everyday Fijian with a lovely relaxed vibe that is perfect for writers, Artists or simply those who need to take time out.
