About this property
Lakeside Getaway with 300 ft on Lake Ontario
Imagine a lakeside getaway on the shores of Lake Ontario, enjoying 300 feet of mowed waterfront, featuring spectacular sunrises, sunsets, and waves. They must be experienced to be fully appreciated. Most of all it is very relaxing. Good swimming and fishing.
To further enhance your stay with us we make every effort to minimize time-consuming problems that could interfere with your getaway. Our grills never run out of propane and there is a laundry room for your exclusive use, right next to the cottage – no need to run back and forth to the local laundromats. We’d rather have you enjoying your lakeside getaway. For fishing the NY State boat launch is just ¼ mile down from the cottage. NY State provides parking free of charge and when you return to the cottage there is plenty of parking for your boat, trailer, jet skis, kayaks, etc.
The property is available to rent by the week starting on a Saturday at 4:00 PM through the following Saturday at 11:00 AM, beginning June 14, 2025 and ending on October 25, 2025.
More features have been added to provide an environment that is relaxing and helps you to get away. More are listed below.
Features
• Cook outs – use a Weber Spirit grill hooked up to the 100-gallon propane tank installed by Suburban Propane; no more running back and forth to town to get 5-gallon refills as they always seem to run dry when you have friends and family with you celebrating summer holidays.
• Water - We recommend you bring your own bottled water for drinking and cooking. We have a shore well and you will have a very reliable water supply, good for any of your other needs. Moms and Dads enjoy bringing small inflatable pools for their toddlers and we have plenty of water to fill them.
• Fishing –During the day the State Boat Launch has parking for your boat trailer, while you go fishing and parents like to bring their kids to fish off the state docks. At night, the boat launch is closed.
• Swimming – it is great. In the summertime the lake is warm, and the kids love it. But be sure to bring your water shoes because wet rocks are slippery.
• Laundry –Busy parents love the laundry room, especially drying swimsuits, and beach towels on those hot humid summer days when it seems to take forever. We also have a clothesline if you want to hang your towels in the sun and breeze.
• Lawn games – plenty of room for lawn games for kids and adults. Currently, Cornhole is a popular game, so we have provided this lawn game for your enjoyment. Of course, feel free to bring your favorite lawn games.
• Fire pit – located roughly ½ way between each of the neighbors so it is safe to use, for those evening S’mores kids love
• Cable TV – we have Direct satellite TV; there is no Internet
• Sleeps 4 - The cottage is fully furnished. It sleeps 4; it has a double bed, twin bunks.
• It also has a fully equipped kitchen. The refrigerator and oven are full sized appliances.
• AC - The living area features high-tech Fujitsu AC (no more window ACs). Because humidity accumulates in cottages on hot summer days, the AC both cools and dehumidifies your whole living area. Seniors really love it!
• Heat - We open late June this year through end of October so the living area also features a new high-tech Rinnai furnace to keep you comfortable on the chilly days we may get in the early summer and in the fall after Labor Day. We welcome guests in the off-season at reduced rates.
• Insects – Because winged nest building insects and web building spiders are very common along the shores of the Great Lakes, we utilize All Pest’s (Adams, NY) “state of the art” insect control services. They are effective and control harmful nest building insects e.g., wasps, hornets, and spiders. Don’t worry about honeybees that continue to pollinate our plants and flowers (Thank God); and the treatment does not harm people, wildlife, pets, etc.
During the summer, we live nearby and available to help make your hard-earned vacation cottage a great experience. Please come join us this summer and early fall.

About the host
Hosted by Nick Skinner
I grew up in Depauville, NY equidistant between Chaumont and Three Mile Bay, graduating in 1965 from Clayton Central High. Lake Ontario is very special to me. I was just 3 years old when my parents started taking me over to Sherwins Bay on Lake Ontario. Back then the lake was crystal clear so that I could peer over the side of the boat and see all the way to the bottom while the bass my parents caught seemed huge to a 3-year-old.
When I was older, my siblings, parents, and I went fishing in the spring, swimming and fishing in the summer. Swimming was especially appreciated because we lacked AC, not widely available in the early 1950s. I became familiar with Pillar Point (Dexter, NY) and Point Peninsula (Three Mile Bay, NY) by “riding around the lake” to cool off.
After high school I attended SUNY Oswego. The campus is located on the shores of Lake Ontario facing the open lake. Once again, the Lake was a part of my life for 4 years and continues to this day.

Why they chose this property
If you choose to come join us, your vacation rental is located in the Three Mile Bay area. I acquired the cottage because all my experiences with Lake Ontario made it easy for me to see its potential. The cottage, at the time, was run down but it had the “million-dollar view” of the lake. Over the years since, I have upgraded and updated the cottage; and extended the shoreline by acquiring parcels next to it to create 300’ of shoreline. The cottage sits right in the middle. The result is spectacular sun-ups and sun downs and beautiful waves; indeed, it makes the Lakeside getaway possible.
