Kona Reef Ocean front Resort sits a few steps away from the Pacific Ocean and a short walk to town, where shopping, dining, beaches, family entertainment and nightlife are all nearby a perfect location for a holiday, honeymoon, or anniversary.
Enjoy beautiful sunset and, if you happen to stay during the peak season - January to March where Humpback whales visit the Hawaiian waters each year you will be able to catch a glimpse of Hawaii's Humpback whales/Dolphins from our Lanai.

Enjoy your morning coffee, or your favorite tropical drink, or a glass of wine while watching and listening to the waves. Hang out by the oceanfront pool and spa, or the beach next door. Enjoy the tropical gardens with beautiful blooming Hibiscus and swaying palm trees.

Swim, surf or sunbath on the white sand beach (Honl's Beach) or hang out by the oceanfront pool and spa. You'll enjoy the famous Hawaiian Breezes in this sought-after end unit with extra windows on the side.

This is a second-floor unit at Kona Reef with only one flight of stairs. Or, guests can use one the elevators thus making this unit easily accessible.

Kona Reef complex is very popular on the well known Alii' Drive and sits back off the main roadway making it very quiet. The only thing you'll hear is the relaxing sounds of the waves rushing ashore.

The unit is recently upgraded with brand new kitchen stainless steel appliances, furnitures in the bedroom, new W/D and 50 inch HDTV in living room with surround sound and Blue Ray player!

Enjoy the Hawaiian Tropical gardens with tables, chairs, and several Barbecue grills. Beautiful blooming Hibiscus and swaying palm trees complete the tropical grounds. Free onsite 'Wi-Fi' is included at no extra cost. Long distance call to US mainland and Canada is free.

Our Oceanview Condo includes all the special extras known to all our properties including beach chairs, small cooler, beach towels, and flash lights if you plan to visit Volcanoes National Park.

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED Inside the Condo or Outside on the Lanai/Patio of the Condo. Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor smoking areas at the Kona Reef complex.

Nightly Rates do not include tax, cleaning fee, property fee, and damage deposit/insurance fee (as applicable). Sale or Special Rate Offers are only valid for new reservations, and not valid for existing reservations.

Guest access
The entire condo, except 1/2 of the bedroom closet that is locked off as the 'owners’ closet', but there is still plenty of space in the closet for our guests to utilize.

Other things to note
After booking and prior to arrival guests will receive directions to get to the condo, codes to access the condo, 'Wi-Fi' information, and any other pertinent info. regarding your stay.

Checkout Instructions prior to departing the condo: as a minimum place used towels in the Washing Machine and start the Washer to clean the towels, and place all dirty dishes in the Dishwasher and start the dishwasher to clean the dirty/used dishes; and empty all trash and place in the trash dumpsters provided on the complex property.

NOTE:
DURING THE IRONMAN RACE -- MINIMUM STAY OF 10 NIGHTS IS REQUIRED.

Any stays booked that do not meet this requirement are subject to cancellation if the guest does not meet the minimum stay requirement.

Wonderful spot for Kona adventures.

We had a very good experience with this lovely condo. Everything was just as advertised in the listing. The location can’t be beat, and the property is well maintained. Parking can be a bit challenging at times, but nothing that was too inconvenient. We recommend this spot, and would come back if we ever get back to Kona area.

Nice condo with view of ocean

Nice, clean condo on a quieter end of Kailua Kona, but easy to drive to restaurant area on Ali’i and grocery stores in the surrounding area. Could walk it if we were younger ;) Well stocked kitchen, nice view from balcony and we got to hear and see pretty strong waves, as well as see some surfers!

Amazing condo in Kailua-Kona!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights and wish we could have been there longer. The condo was clean, comfortable, and had an amazing view of the water. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you need. The patio is perfect for enjoying coffee in the morning and the bed is super comfortable. Easy walking distance to fun shops, restaurants, bars, and beaches. We will stay here again!! Highly recommend :)

Two weeks in paradise

We loved our stay at Kona Reef Resort-Condo F-16. Sue was a great host. This little gem was very clean, fully stocked with all kinds of thoughtful details. The condo has a very comfortable bed and the bath has a luxurious rain shower. The kitchen had all accessories needed to easily prepare breakfast or a dinner before settling onto the lanai for a sunset evening. Great location with easy access to the airport, local shops, farmer’s markets, big box stores like Costco, Safeway, Walmart and Target. Perfect location for awesome day trips to Volcano National Park, Hilo waterfalls, Hilo Botanical Gardens and many many beaches. The Condo has tons of beach toys; sand chairs, cooler, umbrella etc etc. We truly had two weeks in paradise!

We enjoyed our stay in this unit very much. The bedroom was very nice. Comfortable bed, plenty of room and storage space. Loved the tall lanai table & chairs, allowed for looking over, not through, the railing. Full-sized washer & dryer were great. Everything worked well.

Amazing apartment

We spent 5 nights at Sue's beautiful place. Thank you for your kindness, hospitality, and warm heart. It meant a lot for us, we felt like home!! The apartment is excellent, modern, clean and as described. The balcony with gorgeous view is a bonus for both day and evening. The apartment is very conveniently located close to the beaches, with great restaurants nearby, shops, and supermarkets. Parking and washer/dryer are a big bonus. Thank you Sue for everything. What a great condo!

We have stayed at the Kona Reef condo complex several times over the years and love the proximity to the ocean and the quick walk to Kailua-Kona. This unit is superb because of its location on the end of the building, which allows for windows on two sides. With the windows open, you get terrific cross breezes and lots of light. The decor was beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, and the bathroom is gorgeous and functional. The owner was super easy to work with, quick to respond, very accomodating, and check in was easy with a keypad at the door. We never had to carry a key with us, which we loved. This unit is a little set back from the ocean, but you can see and hear it quite well from the patio. You can also walk down to the grass front by the ocean, and there are great lounge chairs there to use while reading and napping in the sun. Some ammenities we thought worth mentioning - in the condo there is a closet with 2 folding beach chairs, a beach umbrella, food coolers, pool noodles, and some snorkeling fins. In the unit, there is a large TV, standing and overhead fans, and a decent blender for smoothies. I believe there is also an AC unit on the wall in the living room, but we didn't need it in December. We would absolutely consider staying here again if it is available

The condo was super clean, modern , well appointed! We liked everything about it! The bed was very comfortable!! The only negative of the entire experience was the adjacent torn down building next to the complex. But nothing the owner can do about that. We would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic location and View

The property is very well maintained and though built in the 80’s, every bit of it is kept clean and maintained to current standards. Sue’s place is clean, modernized, with WiFi, full sized washer/dryer, full sized kitchen with everything needed to cook and dine at the condo ( saving lots of by not eating out as much). Loved the location. Away from the noise of town but very easy walking distance. The views of the ocean and reef waves were spectacular. We saw whales and Spinner dolphins almost daily. Watching the sunset each night from the grassy area in front of the resort was a sight to be treasured. Highly recommend the Starfish (Sue’s condo) BTW, her communications with us were outstanding!

Great view inside and outside

Kona Reef is one of our favorite places to stay in Kona. Location is within walking distance of shopping and places to eat. This particular condo has a good view of the waves and the ocean. The owners have nicely remodeled the entire unit. It’s open and bright. The kitchen is well stocked. Everything was as described. Except the view. It changes every night and that keeps me coming back! Enjoy it

Big Island Getaway

Remarkable Condo!!! Amazing location and wonderful amenities. Walking distance to shops, dining and beaches. Condo was immaculate with beautiful ocean and sunset views, upgraded appliances and very comfortable. Had everything we needed with added bonus of beach chairs, cooler and accessories. Pool was beautiful with lots of lounge chairs and BBQ area. Property was very well maintained, with ample parking. Would definitely stay again and recommend this unit to anyone wanting to stay on the Big Island.

Amazing condo!

This remodeled condo is very clean with very comfortable furniture and bedding. The kitchen is well stocked to cook meals and there is a great box of beach supplies on the lanai. We have stayed at the Kona Reef multiple times and this is my new favorite unit!

In 2022, we acquired Kona Reef F16. The big island is so different from the other island in Hawaii. It is unique in its own way and characteristics.

For years we've been going to Hawaii and we've had our home away from home in Maui, until 2022 when we visited the big island of Hawaii. We wanted to share with you the joys that we found when we first came to the big island and we hope that you will find the same magic that we discovered recently.

As we get closer to retirement, the plan is to live in Hawaii and continue to share with you our little cozy home at Kona Reef. Whatever happens in the future, our little Starfish home will be here for you. Welcome to Starfish Home and we hope that you will continue to come back.

Why they chose this property

It's a walking distance to downtown Kailua that provides shopping, night life and plenty of restaurants for those who don't want to cook. Yet, it is a little far if you just want to lounge and view the sunset in front of the resort.
