Great single-family home for get-togethers at the beach! Short walk to the ocean approximately 1800 feet. Newly renovated, amazing kitchen, bathroom, and flooring! Originally, a two-bedroom flat roof cottage the "Kneas Family Cottage" has evolved into the perfect beach vacation location for families hosting five bedrooms and 3 full baths, one-half bath + an outside shower. With a beautiful deck overlooking a large grassy lot, it is walking distance (1800 feet) to the beach, you may also drive and park at the 5th street beach access. Short walk to the Sound, and shopping making it the ideal affordable rental home for large families.

The first-floor living area and newly renovated kitchen are a large open "L" shaped area with plenty of seating for dining, TV, reading area, and gaming. Two bedrooms and one and a half baths are located on the first floor. One of these bedrooms is ideal for children as it hosts 2 full-size beds and three singles. There is also an outside shower to use when returning from the beach. On the second floor, the cozy living area with TV opens to the sun deck. Two of the bedrooms (one queen and one full) are off the second living area with one full bathroom. The third bedroom (queen bed) and bath (master)is separated from the living area for more privacy. Great house for a large family

Our family of 15 loved staying here for our week-long summer vacation. The property is in an ideal location for easy access to everything OBX has to offer. An easy walk to the beach, grocery stores nearby, pretty much anything we needed was very close. Looking forward to coming back again!

This property was fantastic! Plenty of space, close to great restaurants, entertainment and the beach. Everything we were looking for and at a great price! I loved checking out the owners pictures of the house being built and their fishing charters. We will certainly be back!

Thanksgiving Holiday Retreat

This year my family decided that we wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving at the beach. We had a great time. The house was well stocked and close to lots of amenities. There were lots of conversation spaces. This property was built with family in mind.

Wonderful time

We have a wonderful time at this home! Would 10/10 recommend! It was far enough away from the beach for some peace and quiet but close enough to walk to! The inside was big enough to allow my family, sisters family & our father to all be under one roof for vacation. Absolutely amazing!

Family Getaway

This property is spacious and ideal for a large family and/or friends. It was perfect for my 91 year old mother because of the 1st floor bedroom/full bath (no steps). Also, she could go to bed early and the rest of the family could stay up and visit in the upstairs living space and outside deck. We loved the property and location and would definitely rent this property again!

Great time at this property in Kill Devil Hills. The host was available and helpful whenever needed. Vrbo didn’t contact us till the day before we were to access the property. For over 40 years the Kneas family has vacationed at the Outer Banks in Kill Devils Hills, NC. Elizabeth and Harvey Kneas purchased this vacation home in the 1960s just after the historic Ash Wednesday storm. The Kneas' brought the house as a vacation home while residing in Portsmouth, Virginia, about 1 1/2 hours north of the OBX. Originally, a two-bedroom flat roof cottage, the family has designed and remodeled the home into a perfect family gathering location. The Kneas family has spent many years at the 'cottage' hosting reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, and just summer fun beach time together. Sons Butch and Jim grew up spending lazy summer days at the beach and later working as lifeguards, bartenders, and other odd jobs through high school and their college years. Now the Kneas' grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy the cottage; this third generation is learning to body surf, build sandcastles, play putt-putt, and enjoy all the OBX has to offer.

Walking distance to both the beach, sound and shopping makes it the ideal OBX home. Located at mile post 6 1/2 it is close to the Wright Brothers Memorial, several miles of bike paths, and Jockey's Ridge for hang gliding and kite flying. Minutes away from Oregon Inlet where you can drive on the beautiful beaches, fish from the shoreline or charter a deep sea fishing boat.
