Turn off the country road onto a lane that takes you across Button Lake and you’ll catch your first glimpse of Cute as a Button Cottage. The big patio and sliding glass doors looking out over the lake welcome you home.
If you are looking for tranquility, you’ve found it. Nestled among the trees, you can enjoy the solitude from the glider on the patio or the swing on the hill. As you’re enjoying the trees reflected in the lake don’t be surprised if a doe and her fawns show up for a drink or the visiting Great Blue Heron strolls across the dam looking for a snack.
You’ll enter the cabin on the lower level where the large open concept kitchen/dining/living areas are perfect for family and friend gatherings. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, tableware and appliances, including microwave, coffee pot, toaster, blender and more. With the large sliding glass doors all across the front you’ll be able to prepare and eat a meal while watching the wildlife. The comfortable love seats and recliners in the living room allow you to kick back and watch your favorite show on the flat screen Roku Smart television. There is also a half bath.
A spiral staircase leads you upstairs to a sitting room with Roku Smart television. On either side of the sitting room are the two spacious bedrooms. One has a bay window so you can enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of your bedroom which is furnished with a queen size bed. The second bedroom, equally as spacious, has one queen and one double bed. Both bedrooms and the sitting room have sliding glass doors that take you to a deck overlooking the lake, a perfect place to watch the early morning mist rise from the water and enjoy your first cup of coffee. Full bath with tub and shower.
Downstairs, the large patio leads out to the lake and has plenty of seating, including a glider and table with umbrella. A flat bottom boat is on the water’s edge and available for paddling around the lake. Be on the lookout for painted turtles sitting on logs and all kinds of frogs along the edge.
Mornings are especially delightful. You’ll be awakened to the sounds of hundreds of birds beginning their day. And evenings are special, too. The pair of barred owls often talk to each other at dusk and the chorus of frogs will lull you to sleep.
Wildlife abounds here at Button Lake and being a part of it is a special gift.
Just fifteen minutes from the quaint village of Nashville where you’ll find great shopping and restaurants this little cabin is the perfect get-away.
This cottage has plenty of usable water supplied by the lake well. The water is safe, tested and filtered, but, it is not "city water". You might want to bring some drinking water with you if you do not like the taste of well water.
**Please Note:** A narrow spiral staircase connects the home’s two levels and adds to its unique character. The staircase may be challenging for guests with mobility limitations or those who prefer wider, traditional stairs. Photos are included so guests can determine whether the layout will be comfortable for their group.

Not as described - it is not on a lake it’s a small pond. The spiral staircase is very narrow an average size person couldn’t use it. To go up to the bedrooms you have to go outside and go in the back door or up the stairs from the patio. Very inconvenient and stressful. The bathroom was not clean. We were to stay 2 nights, we stayed 1 night and left early. Needs TLC. We would not rent again
We stayed at the cabin in the woods with some friends! It was so peaceful and quiet. The cabin was roomy and clean! Also, so much character and history! We absolutely loved it and highly recommend! We definitely will be coming back!

Perfect place to stay for a long weekend. I live out of state and had to work the weekend in Morgantown my husband and dogs joined me. Perfect place for them to relax while I was away

This place really is “cute as a button”. TBH I’m a city girl, not a camper so it’s not normally the type of place that I like to rent - but oh my gosh, I can’t tell you how much we loved the house and the property. My husband even caught a couple of fish in the pond. The decor is straight from a grandparents cabin in the woods, but the rooms are good sized. My early 20s aged kids loved the space. It was super clean and the kitchen was stocked with whatever you would need to cook. There were plenty of misc supplies like shampoo and toilet paper as well. It is away from everything, although there are neighbors on the street, you can’t see them. We woke up hearing birds and no cars every morning. We’re both bedrooms and the downstairs house sliding doors. You can just walk out right to the beautiful view and Woods and feel alone, but you’re not all that far away from the road. There are lots of interesting knickknacks in the history of the land and house really made you feel like you were at your beloved grandparents house. We stayed for Indiana U’s graduation so it was a bit of a drive to and from, especially in the dark on winding roads, but GPS does work the entire time. And we had cell service with no issues in the house. I would just suggest leaving some lights on when you leave because it makes it easier to find the driveway when you can see the house We would definitely rent the house again.
This was a cute little private property. Love the games that were available to play, the view of the sunrise in the morning, over the pond, the privacy, and the trails in the back of the house to take a walk. Overall good experience!

Cute little house on a gorgeous little pond. House is everything it looks like in the pictures. It takes you back to a stay with grandma in the woods. Would recommend f you are truly looking to get away with no one around.

Brown County itself is wonderful. The cabin is in the rural part of the county with a nice pond in front of it. The cabin is two story with two bedrooms upstairs and most of the living quarters downstairs. There is a spiral staircase that is neat and funky but not very functional. You have to go outside to bring in bags to the bedrooms. There were some things that need to be fixed.
