Dream vacation!!

We loved this property and it was the perfect fit for our group (2 couples + 1 baby). Monica was extremely communicative and beyond helpful in arranging things such as airport transportation and car rides. The area is beautiful and very quiet and extemely close to the beach! If you're looking at a tulum trip but want a quiet getaway I highly reccomend this property!

Johnson family vacation

Autumn’s retreat is a peaceful, bueatiful escape from the hustle bustle of beach towns to white sands and jungle fanta and flora in Tankah bay. Everything was pristine and well stocked with soft sheets too. The long bumpy road to the house is worth the seclusion and privacy. We loved it and will be back!

Great House

House is super clean. Caretakers were excellent in tending to property and cleaning house each day. Isabel did an amazing job preparing us two Yucatan style dinners. Some of the best food we had all week.

January visit

The house in Tankeh was beautiful. We especially enjoyed sunrise with coffee on the rooftop deck. Monica, the manager was friendly and very communicative. Our family was very happy here, as we used it as a base to explore the local cenotes, snorkeling in Akumal and restaurants in Tulum centro.

Perfect House for relaxation and family time

We had 6 adults and a two year old for one week at the bungalow and it was fantastic. Isabel and Wilson the caretakers came by each day to clean and tidy and we had Isabel cook two dinners and one breakfast. So worth it! The house is about a 15 min drive from old Tulum but we appreciated the peace and quiet and loved lounging by the pool. Well stocked and very comfortable! Highly recommend booking!

Holiday vacation

Booking, check in and communication were great. The mangers sent a packet of info about the area that was very helpful. There was staff at the house everyday for cleaning and maintenance that I was not aware of at the time of booking but made the stay much more enjoyable. The property is in a great location to access other resorts and activities. It’s across the street from the beach but with the world class beaches in nearby Tulum we didn’t spend any time there.

A great place to get away from it all.

This property killed us all. Great sized BRs, great layout, set up well. We sat at the pool a lot and uses the location as a launch pad to Cozumel, PlayaDC, Tulum proper, the Coba ruins, and Bahia Solimon (there are also cenotes, Tulum ruins, Xcaret, etc., within driving range, but we've already done those); but mostly we just took it easy in this quiet, enjoyable abode. Only reason we gave a 4 on location is the beach is rocky and shallow, so not good for wave jumping, body surfing, frolicking.

Great Spot

We enjoyed our stay very much. Power did go out a couple times and lost some grocery’s due to that but no big deal. Oven didn’t work for us, but we informed them and they had to order a part. Hot tub on the roof top is more of a cool tub/dip pool. If they ever get it heated it would be amazing in the evening! Izabella and the groundskeeper were great, they def don’t need to be there all day. Just a great off the Highway little neighborhood, with restaurants and a Cenote. We walked the beach and picked shells, but for swimming we went to Tulum and the other neighboring beach. Overall a great place!

Christmas Week Stay

The house is lovely and well appointed. The check-in procedure could not be easier. The kitchen is large and has most things one needs, and can accommodate several adults cooking at the same time. Everything was clean and well presented. We would recommend it. Access to a washer and dryer would have been helpful for a week-long stay. The housekeeping showed up for a couple of hours twice during our stay. If more attention was paid to the rooftop terrace it would have really enhanced the experience. There is so much potential there to catch sunrises and sunsets. A small counter with sink and storage for cups and more comfortable seating would help, but not having a heater on the "hot tub" really impacted the use of the house, given the season. If the "hot tub" was not frigid it would have been so much more enjoyable.

great family week

Enjoyed our week on Tankah Shores. The house is as described. Three king-size beds. It is an open-air house. The kitchen/living room area and all the bedrooms are air-conditioned. We really enjoyed the outdoor showers. There is a pizza oven on the patio which was fun. The backyard is a mangrove so heard lots of birds. We enjoyed the rooftop spa and stargazing at night. It would be beautiful for the sunrise as well. Isobel and Wilson were very sweet and accommodating It was a family vacation with children 12 and 10 so they wanted to go, go, go! We rented a car so driving along the road every day was a trial. Potholes everywhere. I understand they will fill them in after the rainy season which has been longer than normal and there is a lot of trash that needs to be cleaned up. We ate at almost all the boutique hotels and the food was delicious, the service was perfect and the setting on the ocean, beautiful. Despite the road conditions and the trash, which can be remedied, our stay was perfect.

A beautiful and unique vacation

5 of us stayed at beautiful Autumns Retreats. The house is spacious and comfortable. All the bedrooms are large and comfy, the master is huge. The surrounding landscape is relaxing and private. We returned every afternoon from adventures to unwind and enjoy the pool. The location is a short drive from downtown Tulum but thus away from hustle and big resorts, a peaceful road with private villas and some small hotels - it is growing though! The rooftop is amazing anytime, but especially at night for the cool breezes and star-gazing. I would note that the roof jacuzzi is not heated, but air temperature, so not too useful after dark. The local beach is accessible from a couple points on the road, although most homes beachside wall off access to walk through. The local beach is pretty rocky and a bit rough for other than strolls - but beautiful swimming beaches are within driving distance. Isabel and Wilson were very competent and friendly, and the managing agency was extremely responsive when we had a slight water pressure glitch. Tip: use a local grocery delivery service to begin your trip. We placed a "breakfast food" order as we arrived late at night, thus we had groceries in house the next morning and much of our week. We agreed this rental was a wonderful base to explore Tulum and an excellent value.

Three week stay in Feb/March

We stayed for three weeks in Feb and March. We were a family of four with a 3 and 5 year old and my parents were also with us. This house is very large - the three suites were more than what we needed. We would have loved cotton sheets, especially with the heat. We liked the ease of the pool and loved that it was in the shade (although the water was sometimes too cold for our kids). The kitchen is big and well-appointed. Would have been amazing to have a little box of toys for families with kids, it it’s always just a bonus when homes have that for families. We were told the beach in front of the house was swimmable, but it is not (very rocky and rough - we saw no one swimming our entire three weeks) and that was maybe our biggest disappointment. We ended up spending our beach days at hotels and beach clubs where we had to pay a fee for access. We liked Casa Altamar down the road, and the food was great. The road to the house is VERY bumpy and in poor condition and it was a little tedious to drive in and out every day - and groceries are a 30 minute trip into the main grocery store. The staff was very responsive, kind and helpful but we would have appreciated the ability to do our own laundry - especially because we were there for so long. The roof is beautiful and we loved the wildlife on the property - hermit crabs, capybaras, birds, scorpions and iguanas. So fun for the kids. Overall, we love enjoyed our stay.

castle in the Caribbean

I write castle as it felt like a little fortress. From the pool to the rooftop there were great spots to convene as a group or find one's own space. There was attention to detail and quality in setting up this getaway. It is the Caribbean remember. Power outages happened. The beach while close was not swimmable. It was shallow and choked with sargassum seaweed (this is not the fault of the owner or property manager). The power outages were not the fault of the owner or property manger either however, there was nothing we could do and it was hot for those wishing for AC. Not to mention those in need of an internet connection for work (we hot spotted as much as we could but tricky). Apparently the water pressure in the showers on first floor and the one above are too low. I do not think this had anything to do with the power. My shower outside overlooking the mangrove was out of this world (it does take a very long time for hot water—one day not hot—that may have been a power issue.) All in all I would stay again! For my liking Autumns Retreats was just right. The caretakers of the property were most helpful and thorough as well. Our property manager was attentive and did her best to resolve issues that really were out of her control. Thank you very much. Maybe we will be fortunate enough to come again.

Unique Property

We were a family of 5 adults. 2 couples and 1 single. The house was more than adequate to accommodate us all comfortably. We loved the pool, the backyard wood grill, the lovely landscaped yard and location. Roof top views were incredible. A vehicle is most desirable as the location is outside Tulum. The house provided us a comfortable retreat after adventuring to ruins, cenotes, beaches and dining in Tulum. Lots of bottled water was provided. We found the couches in the living room to be a little uncomfortable for movie watching but we were generally too tired at night to be able to stay up late. I’m picky about bedding and found the cotton/poly sheets uncomfortable. I was the only traveller who felt that way so if you don’t mind polyester sheets just ignore that 😝 Some of the sheets and towels should be replaced due to staining, we were provided with only 1 bath towel each for the entire week, the fridge was not cleaned, the microwave and dish drainer were dirty and there were no cleaning supplies. Food debris on dishes. Only 1 kitchen cloth and a used sponge supplied. House could use a deep cleaning.Monica and her brother were quick to respond and empathetic to the issues. She sent the maid back but the issues were still not addressed completely. We didn’t want to complain anymore so ended up buying our own cleaning supplies. I broke a glass coffee pot and they quickly replaced the entire appliance. I offered to pay for it but she graciously said “things happen.”
