Communication with the host, Lee, was excellent and we enjoyed our conversation with him after our arrival. Unfortunately, we did not meet Amy, however, we enjoyed the delicious homemade bread, farm fresh eggs and OJ she left for us as well as little touches throughout the cabin that made us "feel at home." Cabin is very rustic, and it was clean and comfortable. Weather was perfect during our stay and we enjoyed walks on their beautiful property and being able to exercise our dog after a travel day. Thank you for our relaxing stay, Lee and Amy, and we hope to return again.
We had a perfect stay at the cabin. It is thoughtfully decorated and packed with attention to detail. Lee and Amy are exceptional hosts and made sure everything was perfect!
We had a great stay here on this beautiful property! The host Amy and Lee are amazing! They even left us some complimentary eggs, OJ and Banana Bread! We loved the country feel! We are definitely going to be back!
What a fantastic weekend we had at the cabin. Lee and Amy are fantastic hosts! The property is exactly as described, rustic, serene, and full of relaxation. My wife and I can’t wait until we’re able to return.
The grounds of the cabin were wonder. We saw deer , squirrels and many birds . The cabin was very rustic but very clean . Our only problem was the fireplace smelled the first day and night .
The Portico Cabin and property was an absolute delight! Lee and Amy were amazing hosts. The communication was excellent, the cabin was very clean and well appointed with everything we needed. The decor was a cozy vibe and very welcoming. Lee gave us the history of the cabin and area which was much appreciated. The cabin tucked us into nature and was very serene. I highly recommend the Portico Cabin and will absolutely be returning for another relaxing stay. Thank you!
Clean, beautiful setting with birds and deer at sunrise/sunset. Warmed by two mini-splits, heaters, and an electric blanket.
This is not a Merriott. This is a 1900’s cabin with amenities in a beatiful setting. The innkeepers are gracious and love to talk about the history of the property. Lovely get away!
The property is absolutely beautiful, bringing an overall sense of peace and joy to my demeanor. The owner met with me upon arrival explaining the place and everything the property beyond the cabin has to offer. Its even more magical then the pictures, so many thoughful details were put into this place, bringing together a combination of the past and whimsical present. So many things to do, and beautiful things to see without leaving the driveway, as if your in another world. Im already planning to comeback in the fall. Thank you to the hosts for providing an exceptional experience.
Lee and Amy’s cabin was an incredible getaway! We stayed because we were attending a wedding in nearby Athens and we can already not wait to go back for the cabin itself! The bookshelves have all kinds of hidden gems in them, from farming guides to folklore, and everything in between.
The owners are so kind and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the property, and they had local eggs, juice and banana bread waiting for us at the start of our stay.
It was the first really cold night of the season, and the heaters were wonderful at keeping us warm. We had the best time sitting on the couch reading to one another and eating the short ribs we braised in the amazing vintage oven in the cabin.
I can’t picture a better place to stay than the Portico cabin, and we are thankful to have stayed there this weekend.
Book this cabin to sit back and relax and bring your four-legged friend too. The refinished quaint cabin is well stocked with AC/Heat with a nice size bathroom. Lee and Amy are wonderful hosts with Lee personally meeting you when you arrive.
This cabin is exactly as cozy and relaxing as it looks. Finding it was very easy and Lee and Amy were so kind to meet me and show me around when I arrived. Every detail of the cabin is thoughtfully curated to give you a feel of leaving the stress and rush of today behind for something simpler. If you're used to big luxury cabins with high tech and modern amenities, this is not it. But what you do get is a time for quiet connection with yourself or partner, a chance to rid yourself of distractions, and a step toward peace and serenity. I enjoyed cooking on the little kitchenette stove and eating breakfast on the porch while I watched a family of 7 or 8 deer play in the field. There's an easy walking path around the property that gives beautiful views of a pond. At night you can step outside and practically touch the stars on a clear night. Take something warm to sleep in and some thick socks or house shoes to keep your feet warm at night in the winter. There are fun little towns all around to visit and it's not far from a lot of historical sites. This was my favorite place to vacation so far. I will definitely plan to be back. Many thanks to Lee and Amy for their kind hospitality and ease of communication.
