Wife me and friend stayed for jazz fest. The house is old and has old New Orleans house issues which is part of the charm of staying in New Orleans. Great backyard patio. Beds are not so comfortable. However complain about this regularly in rentals. Large layout. Also as it’s an old house the bedroom doors do not close. I mean they don’t even stay part way shut. So you need to enjoy changing with open doors fyi. Great to have grocery and liquor across the street. Neighborhood is safe and lovely.
This house offered a great location and New Orleans experience. The living room was comfortable and the kitchen had everything that we needed. The location is very convenient, and the grocery store across the street is a gem.
We loved the location and the house but we did not love that the same lockbox code gets used with all the guests. We did not feel safe leaving our valuables in the house when we were out. We were fine at night because of all of the extra locks on the doors. We also had to time out our showers due to limited hot water. The owner was very responsive on all communications with us during the stay.
This was our second time staying at this property. The place was clean. Stephen was very responsive and friendly. I look forward to staying there again.

Cleanliness detracted from the stay
This house deserves some love. Seems as if the owner/management co. doesn’t visit and the cleaning crew knows it.
Pros: good location walking distance to shopping & restaurants, grocery store across the street, nice front porch with seating, nice dining room with large table, off street parking.
Cons: moldy air mattress wadded up on the bedroom closet floor, unwashed/food encrusted utensils in the silverware drawer, used/very dirty dishwashing sponge for the sink, prongs from a broken plug protruding from the outlet next to the kitchen sink, all towels in the 1st bathroom were stained/dirty, insect droppings in a trail along the bathroom window sill, couch is stained & dingy despite removable slipcovers, bed pillows when cases were removed were grossly stained, sheets for pullout couch were covered in dust & paint chips. The house was 60 degrees inside when we arrived - we turned on the heat & went to dinner to allow it to warm up. The back bedroom & bath were in better shape, so if you only need 1 bed & bath and won’t be using the kitchen, you’ll probably feel ok.
Almost perfect! Great location in a beautiful uptown area that is safe and close to St Charles Ave and Magazine St where transport and restaurants are; well equipped kitchen; big spacious bedrooms and bathrooms; conveniently opposite a local grocery store. Small imperfections include having bedroom doors that cannot close or are difficult to close, not providing enough toilet paper, and being opposite a cemetery. But overall a most pleasant stay.
In town for a graduation - love the ability to begin our mornings with a walk to and around Audubon Park. Backyard is lovely for having drinks in the evening and of course the front porch is so inviting. We have stayed at this location before and will return.
First, the good:
This is a charming, old home with a very New Orleans feel. We enjoyed the chandeliers, moldings, and large rooms. The location can't be beat. We were in town for our daughter's graduation from Tulane and this was so close to campus and local sites. The grocery store across the street was great. Check-in was easy as was parking for our rental car. Ample towels and linens were provided. I wish the sofa bed had been made up (as we communicated that it would be needed before our arrival), but we found the bedding and made the bed ourselves.
Needs improvement:
The home requires refurbishment and more detailed cleaning. Those who slept in the master bedroom and sofa bed said the mattresses needed to be replaced. The paint is peeling in several places, furniture coverings and bedding have stains, the curtain rod in the front bathroom is rusty, not all furniture is functional, and there are cobwebs in the closets. There wasn't any soap in the bathrooms as we had expected based on the property listing. Luckily, we had brought soap from home. There also wasn't enough toilet paper for our stay. I messaged the owner to ask for more and didn't hear back, so we purchased some from the grocery store across the street.

Property needs a refresh
This is a beautiful old house in a great part of town; however, it is clear that some things have fallen into disrepair and could be improved. The mattresses need to be updated in both bedrooms, the shower curtain in the hall bath was scummy, back porch light was out, dirty window shade in back bedroom, no toaster in kitchen, and backyard patio was in disrepair. It is clear that this property needs a refresh. I had contacted the owner a few months prior about modifying my reservation, and did not hear back until I contacted him again. By that time it was too late. That was frustrating. The grocery across the street was very convenient.
Great location
Third time we have stayed there. On arrival unit had not been cleaned from previous renters. Called owner and cleaners came out in about 2 hrs. Overall it is a great space and location but is getting somewhat shabby with furnishings. Back bedroom mattress has no support at all and whole unit poorly cleaned with lots of dust and crumbs. Definitely could be better maintained.
We loved being right across the street from Langenstein's, a great little market where we grabbed breakfast each morning. We wish it was warm enough while we were there to take advantage of the outdoor area! Great location in a sleep neighborhood, but still walking distance to Magazine. Loved the spacious rooms, and the master shower was awesome!
Wonderful week-long stay for our family of four adults. Quiet neighborhood. Easy walking distance to much of what we like to do in NOLA. Responsive owner -- even when something quite unexpected happened on the day before a major holiday. And, if you like details only found in older homes, you'll love this property. Thanks again!
Unfortunately, we did not end up staying in this beautiful home. but I wanted to share our experience with this host forthe benefit of others looking at the property.
The night before we were to check in this host contacted me to let me know the Air Conditioning was not working correctly and given that the area was experiencing record heat, he gave us the option of staying and seeing if we were comfortable or canceling for a full refund. Based on the forcast for record high temps, we opted to cancel.
We did receive a full refund. This host handled a difficult situation in a thoughtful and fair way, we appreciated his honest phone call. I will definitely look this property up for future trips.
We had a wonderful stay for our daughter's graduation week at Tulane. The house is in a wonderful location and easily accessible to the University, and to both Magazine and St. Charles. Walking distance to restaurants, like Saba! and to the best ice cream at Creole Creamery. Cute local grocery and liquor store across the street!
The house is large and has ample room for a family with 2 large bedrooms and nice bathrooms. The living room is very comfortable and the dining room has a beautiful table. The front porch is great! The house has old New Orleans charm and the Jazz Fest posters throughout the house are awesome.
The only negative comments would be that the back bedroom with the nice attached bathroom needs a new mattress and the pull out couch is not very comfortable.
Pros: Lovely old house with the uptown feel I know and love. Spacious rooms, lovely living room and delightful porch, a well equipped kitchen. Appreciated that there were some basics, including coffee (no decaf) in the kitchen. The yard is lovely as is the loggia. Our son lives around the corner so he provided a few things lacking.
Needs improvement: New coffee maker (we're not Keurig fans and the basic Proctor Silex didn't work). Towels were clean but a bit thread bare. No sheets to be found for the sofa bed. Master shower is lovely but needs a good scrubbing in the corners (otherwise very clean). The garbage disposal didn't work and the dishwasher backed up the day before we were leaving. We were eating out so we dealt with it. Owner was responsive and jumped on the problem after we left. The patio needed to be cleaned up and the grill did not work. There's great potential for that outdoor space which was once quite nice. Get some new towels, pillow protectors, new coffee maker, fix up the outdoor space, water the planters regularly and you have a 5 star property. SO convenient to have Langenstein's across the street.
Ok, the property is in an excellent location for getting around. We didn’t have a car so we used Lyft and the local bus and trolley and walking. The house is large with very open rooms. The kitchen worked well for us. Both bathrooms are ok. We did request a bath mat for bathroom with the tub so that we could shower and not fall. Steven responded quickly, which was much appreciated. The one problem we faced was that the room where the washer and dryer is had a roof leak and at first we thought it was a gas leak because of the smell so again we contacted Steven and he came by and told us that he couldn’t fix the problem but he thought it was because of the water damage. While we tried to adjust between having the doors open to air out the house and running the air conditioning the smell persisted our whole stay and some of us had allergic reactions to. All in all a good stay but would like to be sure that the water damage problem is resolved before staying there again.
My husband and I stayed here with another couple, all 4 of us retirees. A great place for a reunion with old friends. The weather was lovely, and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch. A few blocks from Audubon Park & the St. Charles trolley; Langenstein's grocery store across the street very convenient. Beds were comfortable, kitchen very nice. A few issues: one toilet was draining slowly when we arrived, & completely stopped up our second day in the house; we notified the owner he sent out a plumber to fix it the next day. He also came by with a couple of others things we needed. Towels, some linens rather old. The outdoor barbeque area needed cleaning and refurbishing; we did not use it.
Great location and house. A group of 5 came for the Jazz Fest and enjoyed the weekend. The house is lovely but in need of updating. From mattresses, sheets, towels, etc to the outdoor seating area.
