About this property

Wide ocean views from almost every room.

Charming vintage cottage overlooking Penobscot Bay and outer islands. Spectacular panoramic views from living room, dining room, and all four bedrooms. Take a step back in time and experience at historic Maine cottage overlooking the water. Beautiful sandy beaches a 10 minute drive away and the nearby rocky beach a 5 to 10 minute walk away. Well stocked kitchen with gas range and oven with all the tools you need to create great family meals. Barbecue grill and lobster cooker available as well. Please note that there is no dishwasher at the house and dish soap and a drying rack are provided.

Sit on the seaside porch and watch the ever-changing sky and water colors and the boat traffic to and from the islands. Kayaks are available to rent at the nearby Snow Marine Park. There are many museums in the area, from the world-class Farnsworth Art Museum and Maine Center for Contemporary Arts to the Sail and Steam Museum right across the way and just down the road from the house the Owls Head Transportation Museum, just to name a few. 15 minutes from Camden and Rockport area and many wonderful restaurants and attractions nearby.

Note that the cottage is a short ways down an incline from the parking area, which requires one to go down 29 steps (with a railing), so access may be challenging for anyone who has issues with steps.

About the host

Hosted by Vintage Sea View

Host profile image
Doug and Sheila live just down the road in Portland and have had fun outfitting this classic Maine camp with many interesting vintage and modern amenities. Sheila and Doug have a passion for old buildings and vintage things, and aspire to re-creating a simpler time when one could while away the hours reading a good book and watching sea and and sky for the ever changing colors and patterns. They also like to explore the nearby museums and restaurant scene. Sheila works as a private practice LCSW psychotherapist, and Doug works as an electrical engineer at Texas Instruments.

Why they chose this property

Sheila and Doug wanted to create a home away from home, in a true Maine saltwater camp, and share their home with others. Being just over the line from south Rockland, the house is well situated for forays into town to the restaurants and museums, the South End grocery, Jess' Seafood Market just down the street, or Primo, among the finest farm-to-table experiences in Maine just around the corner.

What makes this property unique

Amazing views abound, fresh salt air, comfy beds and living spaces, and a wealth of Maine experiences all close by make this a prime destination property.
