We loved the property and we were so close to the restaurants, shops and ferry! The beach was glorious! Definitely want to come back. The host was quick to respond and very helpful
Our stay was wonderful and we really enjoyed the location of this house. The great beach was a short walk away and we were also a pleasant bicycle ride from town. We almost felt like locals as were out exploring! The bikes were in good shape and perfect for our family members. The host was great at communicating and we would love to come back and stay at this property another time.
This property was better than advertised in a perfect, peaceful location. It is a wonderful beach cottage that my family is already locking in for next year when we return to ACK!
Lovely home in a great location! 2 minute walk to the beach and easy walk or bike ride into town. Steve was easy to communicate with before and during our stay and could not have been more accommodating. Sachem corner had everything one would need from kitchen appliances to beach chairs, fishing gear and lawn games.
Our week was truly magical!
Quintessential Nantucket Cottage in the heart of Cliff with a water view and walking/biking distance to town. The house is full of antiques and lots of windows to hear and feel the summer breeze. We have stayed here for a week every summer over the past 4 years with our family. We truly count down the days until we return for our next Nantucket adventure.

Great stay on Nantucket!
We had a great stay at Sachem Corner in Nantucket. As others have noted, the house is older but it's in amazing shape. This is a great space for a family; the house has a nice yard, is close to the beach, and close to town as well. Beyond that, Steve was incredibly responsive to any problems that arose. We had a few small hiccups - it was a bit colder than expected - and Steve quickly had an extra space heater brought over. All in all, we'd be happy to visit again.
We had an amazing stay at Sachem Corner a few weeks ago. We've been coming to Nantucket for years and this is by far the best location of all the rentals we have had. The beach access around the corner is perfect for a family with young kids.
The house itself is good space and the extra cottage in the back works well for extended family.
Communication with Steve was A++. He's extremely responsive and wanted to make sure our stay was perfect.
Thank you for letting us bring our dog too!
Overall a great stay for those looking for an excellent location and a taste of what Nantucket used to be.

Classic Nantucket
My family stayed at this adorable little cottage in June. It is filled with charm from a simplier time. The location cannot be beat as it is only a 2 minute walk to the beach and a short bike ride to town. It made it easy to come back to for lunch or a quick nap for our toddler. The guest cottage was perfect for our aunt who stayed with us on the trip. It allowed for privacy, but togetherness all at the same time. I highly recommend this property if you are looking to experience quintessential Nantucket - a front porch, peace & quiet, amazing views, and no need for TV. We hope to make this cottage a new family tradition!
From breakfast on the patio to evening conversations on the front porch enjoying the sweet salty breeze, Sachem Corner doesn’t disappoint. It transports you back to a simpler time with its cottage feel, but is fully supplied with all the comforts of home, including a new HVAC system for those muggy or a bit too chilly nights. We have been vacationing at Sachem for the last 5 years and love the location as it’s a quick ride to town, easy access for biking, and in our opinion just steps to the best beach on the island - great for kids; warm water, calm waves and an amazing sandbar at low tide. We cannot wait until next summer and our week at Sachem Corner ❤️
My husband and I stayed at Sachem Corner for just under a week and loved it! The house was clean and comfortable. The yard was a perfect spot for relaxing and playing with our dog. There are bikes and a few yard games in the garage which we enjoyed using. The best part about the house is its location. It's an easy 2-3 minute walk to the beach and a short ride into town. We loved being so close to the beach and were back and forth frequently. The house has plenty of beach supplies including chairs, towels and an umbrella. Steve, the owner, was super nice and responsive. We really enjoyed staying at Sachem Corner and would definitely go back!
We recently had the pleasure of staying another year at this charming little cottage on Nantucket! The cottage itself exudes old Nantucket charm, instantly making us feel like we had stepped into a timeless retreat. It even has a little guest cottage allowing you to have guests, but still offering privacy. Steve stocks the house with kitchen supplies, paper products, and even an assortment of bikes to explore the island.
The location is simply unbeatable – just steps from Cliffside Beach, which feels like your own private oasis most days. We spent countless hours enjoying the sun, searching the sand for Whelk shells, and a swimming in the calm surf with a sandbar for our little ones to play without worry.
One of the highlights of our two-week stay was the widow’s walk. Every evening, we were treated to breathtaking sunsets that painted the sky with vibrant colors.
Our kids cry every time we leave and are already counting down the days until we can return to this perfect Nantucket haven. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a quintessential island experience!
We hesitate telling our friends about this gem of a home because we love it so much! My family could never imagine staying at any other home on the island. The proximity to the beach and town is perfect! We love the convenience this location offers, yet you feel so far away from the hustle and bustle of town offering so much privacy. My favorite is to wake up early and sit on the porch listening to the waves crash and birds chirp.
Sachem Corner is a classic Nantucket home filled with so much charm. You can tell how loved this home is and well taken care of it is. The layout is amazing for families with a large kitchen that easily flows into the living room and dining room, keeping the conversations going while making dinner. The garage is filled with everything you would possibly need from bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs and more. We can’t wait to be back next year!

Honeymoon Bliss
My Husband and I spent a week of our honeymoon at this lovely cottage. We loved the location of this house, it was close to town and to the beach but very private and quiet. There is access to stairs that go down to the beach just one street over and because parking isn't permitted on that road there was hardly anyone at the beach. Swimming was fantastic, warm water and gentle waves. We loved watching the sunsets every night from the widow's walk while enjoying a glass of wine and some appy's. The view from the widow's walk is spectacular, one of the best things about this property. The cottage was really clean and everything was in well working order. We loved the historic feel of the home including the clawfoot tub upstairs and all the cool artwork and furniture throughout the house. The kitchen table was great for working on puzzles on cloudy days, the chairs were so comfy and unique. We also appreciated the abundance of towels, the awesome outdoor shower, and the backyard, and bikes. Steve was easy to correspond with and our deposit was returned shortly after our departure. We can't wait to return to this lovely cottage!
The cottage was very cute & nostalgic. Very close to ocean with private beach access. The owner was very attentive. Had a very relaxing time in beautiful location.
Sachem Corner is located in a perfectly private corner of one of the loveliest areas in the US! We spent the week of 4th of July there…..meandering the neighborhoods as we wound our way to downtown. We’d come home from a day of adventure and then run down to the beach just steps away to lay on the beach to read a book before dark. It was glorious! The accommodations were just great! We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday so we had plenty of room to hang out and enjoy what the house had to offer! Owner Steve was incredibly responsive and answered any questions…..we probably didn’t fully use the house and bikes and beach goods but it’s there if desired! Had a fantastic vacation!! Thank you to Steve and his family for allowing us a peek into the incredible life on Nantucket!
We stayed in the cottage July 2022, we are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teens. The house was lovely. The description of the house is accurate but I don't think the pictures convey how really beautiful the house is. In some ways the house is a step back in time - but in a good way. There are enough updates that it is a convenient place to stay. Sitting on the front porch or playing in the yard is wonderful and the beach is walking distance. I already looked at next year to book the same week, however they are already full for the entire 2023. Well done. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. It was a pleasure to stay.
If you are looking for a true Nantucket cottage, look no further than the quaint “Sachem Corner” hidden behind the privet. Sachem Corner was built in 1935 and maintains the charm of yesteryear; however has all the modern amenities and is only a block from Cliffside beach. It is on a private road so although the beach is public, we are often the only ones there! We love watching the ferries come in while hanging out in the calm, shallow water on the sandbar. Sachem truly has become our family tradition; we have watched our two babies grow up on the steps of the front porch. We are so thankful Steve and his family share this ‘gem’ with us and are already counting down the days until next year.
We just returned from our second stay at Sachem Corner - what a special home! After visiting 5 years ago we always talked about going back and were finally able to make it happen this summer. The house is as charming as they come, with a combination of warmth, character, and efficiency that is hard to find in a rental. It is well equipped with most things you will need. Steve, the owner, is so great to work with and incredibly hospitable. Cannot say enough about the location - steps away from a calm, quiet beach and just outside of town (yet very private).
We have five children ranging in age from 19 to 5 years old and they all love coming here. It is not always easy to keep teenagers and a 5 year old happy in the same place but we found it! From Great Point to Madaket and so much in between, we covered a large part of the island. But at the end of the day, we all loved "our" beach down the steps with the low tide sandbars and incredible sunsets.
We enjoyed morning coffee on the porch, lobster dinners in the backyard, sunset cocktails on the beach and lots of corn hole (provided!), walks and days at the beach in between. There is a tranquility about Sachem Corner that you will cherish and not soon forget. We cannot wait to return next summer!
Steve was a great host. The place was a perfect cottage close to town and the beach. I can’t imagine a better experience. The main house had a lot of living space and the back patio was a great place to hangout. The guest house was a great place to stay for extra privacy. Will be back.
We had a great time the last week in September! The weather was beautiful — warm enough for a beach day or two — and the property was perfect for our group of 4 adults. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived and well-stocked with paper goods, towels, beach gear, etc. The owner was gracious, answering questions quickly and letting us know when we had extra time to check out on our departure date. You can tell he really cares about the house and his guests. The house is cottag-ey and charming, and the kitchen and yard are the best — gorgeous wood floors and plenty of space for supplies, and a nice roomy yard for cooking out. We enjoyed strolling the neighborhood and it really is a short walk (plus stairs) to get to the beautiful, calm beach where we had picnics, cocktails, and watched people fishing. We went every day, it was such a treat to be so close! Highly recommend this place for location, space and proximity to town (without being surrounded by town crowds).
This was truly an amazing experience!! We want to thank the host, Steve, for an incredible stay on Nantucket and for his excellent communication before, during and after our stay. The house itself was very clean upon our arrival and came with everything we could have asked for for our beach weekend – bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, yard games, you name it! The location has to be one of the best parts about this property though, with the house situated right around the corner from Steps Beach – it was a 3 minute walk from the front door to the steps taking you down to this beach. I would highly recommend Sachem Corner to anyone looking to rent a beautifully kept home within walking distance to the beach and to town! We cannot wait to return in the near future and experience it all over again. Thank you Steve!
My three children (10, 13 and 14) and myself just returned from renting this amazing home on Nantucket! There are so many wonderful things to comment on regarding this property!
First, they have packed this home full with anything you might need. They’ve got beach towels, umbrellas, badmitten, beach chairs, bikes, boogie boards etc. The house and kitchen are also full of every size pot and pan, coffee maker, toaster, Tupperware etc. There was nothing we needed outside of our food and clothing. It was so refreshing!
Second, the communication with the owner was extremely prompt. Over our stay I only had to reach out a couple times, but each time the response was close to immediate. We had one issue where the internet seemed to go down and after trouble shooting, they had an appointment set up moments later for Comcast to come out. They absolutely want you to have a wonderful experience.
Lastly, the location. This location is the best of all of Nantucket. Essentially what seemed like feet from the ocean/beach, and an easy bike ride or walk to town. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better location!
Everything about this home made our summer vacation to Nantucket all that much more magical. We will absolutely be coming back! Thank you!!!

About the host
Hosted by Steve Reed
My name is Stephen Reed. I manage Sachem Corner on behalf of my family.
I have been coming to Nantucket since I was born and I lived on Nantucket from 88 through 91. I still have numerous ties to Island and make it down for at least three weeks every summer.
Why they chose this property
Sachem Corner has been in our family since it was built by my great grandfather in 1934. In the late 80s I spent considerable time at Sachem. During that time I added the gardens and laid the back patio. I have a tremendous attachment to Sachem Corner and hope you will as well.
What makes this property unique
When you visit Sachem it is easy to imagine what summering in Nantucket must have been like in the 30s. Sachem Corner is on secluded dirt road. The many large original windows have great light and let in a lot of fresh air. The widows walk is a delight for children.
