Incredible vacation in Nantucket
Sachem Corner is located in a perfectly private corner of one of the loveliest areas in the US! We spent the week of 4th of July there…..meandering the neighborhoods as we wound our way to downtown. We’d come home from a day of adventure and then run down to the beach just steps away to lay on the beach to read a book before dark. It was glorious! The accommodations were just great! We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday so we had plenty of room to hang out and enjoy what the house had to offer! Owner Steve was incredibly responsive and answered any questions…..we probably didn’t fully use the house and bikes and beach goods but it’s there if desired! Had a fantastic vacation!! Thank you to Steve and his family for allowing us a peek into the incredible life on Nantucket!

Cottage Stay in Nantucket
We stayed in the cottage July 2022, we are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teens. The house was lovely. The description of the house is accurate but I don't think the pictures convey how really beautiful the house is. In some ways the house is a step back in time - but in a good way. There are enough updates that it is a convenient place to stay. Sitting on the front porch or playing in the yard is wonderful and the beach is walking distance. I already looked at next year to book the same week, however they are already full for the entire 2023. Well done. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. It was a pleasure to stay.

A True Nantucket Gem
If you are looking for a true Nantucket cottage, look no further than the quaint “Sachem Corner” hidden behind the privet. Sachem Corner was built in 1935 and maintains the charm of yesteryear; however has all the modern amenities and is only a block from Cliffside beach. It is on a private road so although the beach is public, we are often the only ones there! We love watching the ferries come in while hanging out in the calm, shallow water on the sandbar. Sachem truly has become our family tradition; we have watched our two babies grow up on the steps of the front porch. We are so thankful Steve and his family share this ‘gem’ with us and are already counting down the days until next year.

Nantucket Magic!
From breakfast on the patio to evening conversations on the front porch enjoying the sweet salty breeze, Sachem Corner doesn’t disappoint. It transports you back to a simpler time with its cottage feel, but is fully supplied with all the comforts of home, including a new HVAC system for those muggy or a bit too chilly nights. We have been vacationing at Sachem for the last 5 years and love the location as it’s a quick ride to town, easy access for biking, and in our opinion just steps to the best beach on the island - great for kids; warm water, calm waves and an amazing sandbar at low tide. We cannot wait until next summer and our week at Sachem Corner ❤️

About the host

Hosted by Steve Reed

Host profile image
My name is Stephen Reed. I manage Sachem Corner on behalf of my family.

I have been coming to Nantucket since I was born and I lived on Nantucket from 88 through 91. I still have numerous ties to Island and make it down for at least three weeks every summer.

Why they chose this property

Sachem Corner has been in our family since it was built by my great grandfather in 1934. In the late 80s I spent considerable time at Sachem. During that time I added the gardens and laid the back patio. I have a tremendous attachment to Sachem Corner and hope you will as well.

What makes this property unique

When you visit Sachem it is easy to imagine what summering in Nantucket must have been like in the 30s. Sachem Corner is on secluded dirt road. The many large original windows have great light and let in a lot of fresh air. The widows walk is a delight for children.
