Private Cliff Location; 7 min walk to Beach; Enchanting deck and Enclosed Yard
Ideal Nantucket home for couples or an extended family. Very private renovated house with carriage house. Main house sleeps six, 2.5 baths. Carriage house has separate studio with bath (Sleeps one) and one-bedroom private apartment with kitchen, living room and bath (Sleeps two). Perfect for additional couple or in-laws. This is a 5 bedroom 4.5 bath rental sleeping 9.
Private enclosed backyard, ideal for children. Outstanding location just off Cliff Road; 7-minute walk to beach, 15-minute walk to town. Close to the Westmoor Club, bicycle paths, Something Natural, Steps and Washing Pond Beaches. Main house has been recently upgraded to include Central Air and Heat throughout. Carriage house has central air and heat.
Surrounding Area: Our house is located on a charming rural country road (unpaved) at the edge of town, but an easy walk to beaches and a 15/20-minute walk to town center. We overlook a wetlands conservation area, the Westmoor Club beyond, and are just far enough off of Cliff Road so there is minimal traffic noise, yet easy access. We have mature landscaping, so in season the house cannot be seen from the road. Both the front and rear yards are exceptionally private - the rear yard is enclosed and has two gated entrances, so it is perfect for young children (we have two). We are also quite near the Cliff Road bicycle path, so that is always an enjoyable activity and a good way to see more of the island - especially the bayside beaches (Steps, Washing Pond, etc)
Restaurants: We are within a 5 to 15-minute drive of all the resort restaurants, but given the privacy and setting of the house, we find both ourselves and guests frequently dining and relaxing on the rear deck with a barbecue, or a more formal meal if desired. We have a restaurant pedigree DCS oven suitable for all professional cooking purposes, and a Weber gas grill for great fish and meats.

Why they chose this property
I have known Nantucket since my college days when I worked as a waiter at The Club Car. It's always been a special place, and I wanted my young daughters to enjoy the same experiences I have had there. The house appealed because of its flexibility (the property can handle a large family or just a couple), has a private, rural feel, but is also very close to town. I travel too much to get here often, so I like to relax once I've arrived and not worry about driving miles to town. The bicycle path on Cliff has been a great treat for my children and an unexpected location bonus. So too is the Westmoor Club - located within walking distance, where we were early members.
The property has mature plantings so during the summer it is difficult to see any neighbor from the house. That makes dinner on the back deck even more special. The outdoor shower gets a lot of use, too, on those many great beach days.

The property is close to town and a hidden beach (Town center - a few minutes by car, or a 15/20 minute walk; Hinkley Beach - 5 minutes on a bike, or an 8-minute walk at the end of Hinkley Road), yet the property is very private, with mature landscaping on a rural road.
