Step outside to lounge in the verdant backyard with expansive mountain views or cozy up at night to sip whiskey fireside. The property sits 2 miles from Pioneertown Mountain Preserve is which is 25,500 acres and descends from the piney ridges of the San Gorgonio Wilderness down to the valley of Pioneertown. The Preserve is a short drive or walk/run to multiple hiking trails that sit within the Sand to Snow National Monument. The Preserve is one of our favorite attractions as it is very well maintained but remarkably quiet most of the time. Other nearby excellent hiking options are in the Sawtooth Mountains which sit directly behind downtown Pioneertown proper. Of course, our favorite morning or evening jaunt is to Joshua Tree National Park which is a 25 minute drive from our home to the gate. The property itself is also just a wonderful place to unwind and simply take in the desert energy. The backyard is the perfect venue for practicing yoga, meditation and breathing exercises as you overlook the serenity of mountain vistas in the distance. Reconnect with your circadian rhythm as the early morning and evening light draw you to bask in them.
An outdoor bbq is provided along with a fully stocked kitchen to provide for comfortable meals at home. The nearby world-famous Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace is a 10 minute drive, as is Red Dog Saloon if you’re interested in enjoying some bbq or Mexican food, spirits and live music on certain nights. With little ambient light, night skies are extremely quiet and dark here so star gazing is one of our favorite pastimes. Sundown Ranch welcomes you to create your own memories and adventure here.

Beautiful property with awesome views.
We arrived in early April, so the evenings are still relatively cold. We couldn’t use the outside fireplace, as the gas tank was stuck. And the jacuzzi water was stagnant and it smelled so we just couldn’t find the courage to use it. It would have been nice if the property was better prepared for the guests, considering we had many options, but we chose this property due to outside amenities. Considering the price we paid, we definitely were disappointed.

Hi Keith, I wanted to apologize again for your experience. Unfortunately on the one night stay I didn't have the opportunity to correct this huge error and oversight (nothing else to say about it but it was a mistake and this has never happened before) made by our new cleaning team during busy spring break week but we did reach out and offer to have the guest return for another visit at no cost for us to make up for it or a partial refund. I did learn the gas tank was stuck on the ON option and did work but was understandably confusing for our guest.
