About this property

Vintage River Cottage on the Okatie River Between Beaufort Bluffton

Vintage River Cottage on 3 acres with view of the Okatie River. Ideally located halfway between Savannah, Beaufort and Bluffton...an easy drive to the Savannah/Hilton Head airport. The Lowcountry at its orginal best. Old live oaks, camellia forests, magnolias, a perfect location from which to explore the Lowcountry. This cottage is the original house on the property known as Cedar Bluff, and shares the 3 acres with the owners who live in main house steps away. Still private and quiet.

The cottage features a wonderful screened porch, hardwood floors, stone fireplace with gas logs, ceiling fans throughout. Dating from 1925, the cottage has lots of character that one would expect but with all the necessities like updated bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, streaming TV, internet. There are only a handful of authentic Lowcountry River Cottages left: here is your opportunity to experience the Lowcountry at its best: comfortable, nestled among large oaks, pines, camellias and azaleas with a tidal river seen from the front porch.

Please be advised that there is no room for guests to keep a boat at the dock, with the exception of kayaks which are welcome.

The owners also offer a small log cabin in Western North Carolina near Cashiers, Glenville, Sylva, VRBO #300192

Why they chose this property

The cottage was our original vacation home when we lived in the downtown historic district of Savannah, Georgia. Upon making our property on the Okatie our permanent home, we make the cottage available to guests who would enjoy 'old Carolina' or 'old Lowcountry'....It is charming, has all the necessities, not too many fancy bells and whistles, but many amenities such as 'old trees, pristine tidal river, one of the Lowcountry's best screened porches for sitting , reading or sippin'.

What makes this property unique

excellent location equi-distant between historic downtown Savannah (1733) and historic Beaufort (1711) and Bluffton....15 minutes off the bustle of I-95. quiet riverfront residential area, 3+ acres.
35 minutes drive time to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport
