About this property

Cubs Cabin - 180° Mountain View, fire pit, pets ok!

Imagine total seclusion w/a picture window of the mountain after a day of hiking in this cozy hideout hovering over downtown Bryson City… less than 5 min from town, the river and the GSMR train that takes you on a day trip scenic tour through the western NC Smoky mountains. The Smokey Nat'l Park is 10 miles to the Cherokee entrance. A quiet, clean home base centrally located awaits you in this Hallmark mountain town of less than 1500 residents.
The space
This chic modern cabin is packed with luxury amenities! She sleeps four with a brand new queen xtra comfy mattress. Got kids? Pull out the sofa couch it sleeps two very well. You'll have a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, Keurig & K cups, blender, dishes & silverware. Need internet access? The WIFI is steady. Sip your hot coffee and chilled wine on the front deck in the crisp, cool air...that's why guests enjoy it here, a mighty stellar view of the mountains. Please keep in mind there is no stove or dishwasher in the cabin. We do offer a hot plate, dish towels, paper towels and dish soap.

The driveway is flat gravel, with no incline. The drive up from town is well paved, maintained with somewhat of an incline however you do not need a 4WD. Parking at the cabin is plentiful, pull right under the covered front entrance.

The Great Smoky mountains are waiting for you! Nearby is Cherokee Harrah's casino if you are feeling lucky, Maggie Valley & Sylva. Asheville, NC is an hour away. The Nantahala river gorge and downtown are minutes as are so many locally owned restaurants and breweries. Bryson City is also where the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad home base is, you will hear the sound of the train horn from the cabin…remember to buy tickets in advance! Pets-
We are pet friendly! you are welcome to bring your well trained dog (max 2) with you. The 1x pet fee of $60 is required at the time of the reservation. This cost goes to clean/sanitize the entire house as pets create hair, dust and dander that take additional time to clean. Please bring their bedding and a sheet to cover the bed if they sleep with you. If you decide not to take the pet with you during the day, they must be crated. We provide bowl feeders & furniture covers please use them! Cats are not permitted due to owner and guest allergies.

Guest access:
Entire guest house which is about 500’ feet. You are free to roam any part of the property including the front deck and yard to see the mountain views!

My priority as your host is to provide a 5 star experience to my guests by being available 24/7. I manage my properties w/o the use of a management company. I answer your requests on Saturday night when the toilet won't flush!
Other things to note
Upon booking we will reach out to you with instructions that include address and keyless entry details. We are reachable just about all the time so never hesitate to send a message if you have a question!

Never again
I have stayed in many VRBO properties over the years and this was the worst I have ever seen. After driving 6 hours; we got to this cabin and opened the door the bed had dirty sheets on it, and the garbage had not been taken out. The toilet had pee in it and toilet paper. A blanket was in the bathroom sink and the floors are so uneven it is hard to walk. I called the property manager and was told she was sending someone to clean the cabin, So we sat on the porch for 1 hour while it was being cleaned. She said her cleaning lady would apologize when she got to the cabin. The coffee pot did not work, We could not get the cup that holds the filter and coffee to come out. so we bought one in town. When I told the property manager about the coffee pot not working, on the day we left so there would not be any issues with the next renters, I was told the coffee pot worked fine. I was sent a text by the manager that I owed a pet deposit and she wanted to take it out of my deposit. I told her I did not get a text at first and asked how much it would be. She said: well if you go to your text and scroll up you will see how much. She could have just said 35.00. But after all the bull and a 2nd text saying VRBO does not collect the deposit; and you are checking out and still no pet deposit. I checked my records and found out the 35.00 deposit was paid back in July when I paid in full.

An absolutely perfect getaway.
I had an amazing time with my boyfriend and puppy (love that it was pet-friendly because that is a need for us). The place has everything you would need, very clean, and a PERFECT location. We stayed for 3 nights, and one day we drove about 10 minutes to absolutely beautiful overlook and then did walking trails...very very beautiful area. The next day we drove 5 minutes away to the city and spent our whole day going to the museum, aquarium, train rides, and we also went to a lovely coffee shop (host left a gift card there for us and was very sweet!). Everyone in the town was extremely friendly as well. Lastly, we used the campfire and telescope to make hotdogs and stargaze. Perfect trip. I highly recommend this place. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

House was as listed on VRBO
My children and I had a great time while we visited North Carolina and the The Smoky Mountains National Park. The house we stayed at was as advertised on VRBO. The only recommendation I would make is to upgrade the microwave as it is very outdated and cooking times were much longer than normal. There was an updated toaster oven and coffeemaker but no oven or stove. There was a hot plate available to cook on.

I am an outdoor enthusiast, which is why I own property in this area. I love the outdoors, walking the trails and seeing wildlife. I live next door to the cabin so that I can be on site to handle whatever may come up. I also clean after guests having gone through unreliable cleaning services I like to know its been done correctly. This is a major advantage over Vacassa, Evolve or one of the property management companies! Try calling one on a Saturday night when the toilet won't flush!
I love being in the hospitality business and have had Airbnb's for 10 years. All have been successful! Not to mention I love meeting people and learning about other places in the country.
