Really cool little place good value for money Only a couple minor things they could improve on the mattress isn’t good the shower temperature wall over the place and the soaps were basically empty at the sink which is all minor things but good setting and good value
Our second time here and will be back. Such a perfect hideaway for a few days recharging. Lovely and cosy. Its very rustic in style but has everything needed for a few days off grid.
Property was beautiful! Great views, comfy bed. The cabin is amazing and really well equipped. The host was fantastic and helpful. Very cute dog on the property. Would recommend 10/10
Mike is an excellent host and both the property and the location are great! Don't expect all the mod cons because this is a rustic escape to simply switch off! We did find the bed to be quite uncomfortable, unfortunately, but the stars at night were amazing.
Absolutely perfect for a few days away from it all. Warm, peaceful and had everything we needed. Loved being able to bring the dog as well. We will definitely be back.
The converted cottage has been curiously constructed with what seems like not a single straight line in the place. While the facilities sre not overly modern, we weren't left wanting for more - which was lucky as the heavens opened and leaving the cozy log fire was not that appealing in any case ! Would highly recommend.
we (grandparents, 2 grandsons and dog) all enjoyed our stay at the old stables. We loved the quirky building, the peaceful environment, the ambiance. we appreciate the attention to detail, with all the vintage items that decorate this cosy place.
Great place perfect to get away from city rush the sounds of the birds is so relaxing an the host are very nice and helpful would recommend this to anyone
The perfect farm stay and so beautifully and rustically restored! Peaceful, with everything one needs for a relaxing 'get away from it all' getaway. "Perfectly imperfect"! Thank you.
This is a quaint cottage, tucked away in a beautiful forest clearing. It was welcoming, comfortable and warm. Mike was a good host.
We will certainly come back here.
This is a gorgeous rustic bach. If you are looking for a spot away from it all, and love the simple things, this is perfect. Its clean, welcoming and has everything you need. It was perfect for our wee family. If you are after a hotel like experience, I wouldn't recommend!! Thanks for everything Mike!
Owner very accomodating and friendly, it’s a great location far away from everything, beautiful bush and farmland. We hiked up to Mt Herbert and there many other walks and rides in the area. Cottage is very old and character-filled. Double bed in the main living area and a loft with two single beds. No privacy if that’s important for you, but we love it and will return

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Good
Over all was ok but could do with a bit of love.
Could be cleaner.
Otherwise the location is beautiful.
Maybe a table out the front would be good.
Thanks so much Mike, we had a lovely time staying in the old wood shed stables. The work gone into this space is awesome, gorgeous native timber, insulated walls and ceiling at least, comfortable bed with electric blankets, hot shower, coal range stove used with wood, electric heaters if required also. We stayed in wintery july in stormy weather and we were toasty warm. Beautiful spot to just read books, play cards, have some wine n cheese etc. Close to DOC walks up on the ridge with old tōtara rejuvenating forest.
