Great Getaway Mountain House

We had the entire family of 12 there. Had plenty of room. The beds were awesome. Loved the huge great room, awesome for everyone to hang out in!

The cabin was very nice and the family was comfortable throughout our visit. The only minor issue was the stove did not always work properly taking a long time to warm up to temperature and cooking food. Outside of that, it was a wonderful holiday!!

Blowing Rock Retreat

We all enjoyed our stay and appreciated the driving directions once we entered Blowing Rick. The Lodge is well located between Boone and Blowing Rock , easy to get to both. Our phone call regarding fire wood and internet connection was answered promptly. We look forward to returning for another stay.

Grad celebration

Our family (11 people) enjoyed our time at Colonel Webers Lodge celebrating our App State grad. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their private space but also a large common area for us to spend time as a big family.

Spacious layout

Plenty of room for everyone! Amazing view. You can hear the Tweetsie Railroad train whistle throughout the day and even see the smoke/steam down in the valley.

Perfect for family

My family has been traveling to the Blowing Rock area every year for over 30 years. As our family has grown… so has our the need for larger spaces. This house was very spacious, good location to access restaurants and things to do. Being close to Appalachian ski mountain, the roads stayed accessible even though we had a nice snow and very cold temperatures. We have already booked again for next year.

Like Grandpa’s lake house

This house has wonderful character. It feels like the old family lake house, just up in the mountains. The location was great and it was easy to find. Lots of lounge space in the living room and comfy beds for everyone. Everything was very clean. My only gripe was that a house this large needs a larger hot tub, but that’s just me being picky. Great place!!!!

Easter weekend

We enjoyed our stay. The only problem was we didn’t have heat for the first night and it was very cold. They did respond quickly and brought us some space heaters until they could get a repair man. They were very friendly and got heat working our second day. We will definitely stay again.

Family vacation

The house was easy to find and although you felt tucked away it was convenient to nearby attractions. Communication with rental agency was top notch. Parking was plentiful and flat. Wifi worked great. Plenty of space to spread out with our large family and dogs. My only negative was the lack of towels and wash cloths. It would have been nice to have at least 1 towel and 1 wash cloth for each person. Overall, its a nice home for an extended family vacation.

Wonderful cabin to gather friends and family to celebrate our daughter’s college graduation ! Perfect for disabled guests.Bathroom grab bars and high toilets are a plus for disabled. Not quite zero entry which was difficult for wheelchairs. Recommend bringing personal mini ramp which can be purchased on Amazon. Beautiful stone wood burning fireplace was so Cozy! Great handicap friendly rental

This home is in a good location and a has great layout. I will say that it is in definite need of a DEEP cleaning and repairs, especially the deck for safety reasons. I would like to point out that if you work from home or need Internet upstairs, you will have a lot of trouble but downstairs the Internet worked well. However, the management was wonderful and helped us with any issues we had promptly, which was greatly appreciated. I would definitely stay here again. And if you need firewood make sure to take a quick trip down the road back past the ski resort....You can support a great local guy who won't sell you wet wood.
