Amazing accommodations and location

Can’t say enough on how perfect the accommodations were. Beautifully built Villa with an amazing view, very large outdoor patio, with a nice sized, clean pool for laps or play. The area was, and felt, extremely safe. Short walk to the beach, which has a couple of restaurants for food or drinks. We were amazed on how short of a drive into the main town of Sagres was, under 5 minutes. Location was ideal for that short drive into town, or good take off spot to all the more remote beaches/attractions. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the yard is well maintained, and the pool was clean and well cared for. The home itself was spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities you could need. Short walk to the beach! Restaurants, Gas and groceries a 5 minute drive! We especially appreciated the complimentary Friday cleaning service a thoughtful touch that made our stay even more enjoyable.Richard and Lena were exceptional hosts who truly went above and beyond. One of our friends accidentally left his passport at the house after checkout, and Richard arranged for someone to drive three hours to Lisbon Airport to deliver it. That level of service and care is remarkable and speaks volumes what kind of hosts they are, so greatly appreciated.The only drawbacks for us were the lack of air conditioning and the firmness of the beds. The listing states AC but you need to read the fine print. There is no AC at this property. Despite the evening breeze, the bedrooms remained quite warm at night, making sleep somewhat uncomfortable. The mattresses were also firmer than what our group is accustomed to, though we understand this is a matter of personal preference.Overall, this is a beautiful property with outstanding hosts, and we would happily recommend it to others. Lovely House and Pool Near Beach

A very nice property within a 5 minute walk of Martinhal beach. The pool is amazing and kept comfortably warm, which is especially nice in the evenings when temperatures turn cooler. Grocery store is a 5 minute drive away. Richard and Lena are extraordinarily nice hosts, who live on the property in a separate home and eager to help with anything. They will meet you upon arrival to tour the house and again when you depart to hand off the keys. A few things to know: 1. As stated in the listing, there is no air conditioning. We're told that is not uncommon because of typical weather in Sagres. But, we were there during a heatwave and it was unbearable at night. Because all the windows and sliding doors are without screens, we closed them at night. There are no fans circulating air inside and it is quite uncomfortable in high temperatures. 2. Bedding does not include top sheet, so sleeping is either with a duvet or blanket. With hot weather, it is not ideal. No extra bedding of any kind is available. 3. Unless you want to use body wash as shampoo, bring your own. Overall, a very nice property and experience, but we would be wary of staying again in the Sagres region without A/C.

Well, the unprecedented heat wave in so many countries in Europe including places, which never get such heat waves has affected you and us indeed! - you because it spoiled your first two nights of your holidays and - us as we are blamed for not installing AC and the fact that such weather event was completely unlikely in Sagres so far does not excuse us. We are very sorry for that and started to take precautions to avoid such problem just in case it happens again. Nevertheless, please excuse us when we regard your statement "we would be wary of staying again in the Sagres region without A/C” as an overstatement - kind of: "we would wary to stay in Great Britain without AC” after an even more severe heat wave took place at the same time and knowing that there is only a very small percentage of houses having AC. Further, it’s a pity you were reluctant to use our help and advise that we kept offering to you: - yes, there are sliding doors but nobody has to close them for the night as you have automatic shutters that can be semi closed (leaving the small space between slats for better ventilation); - we never heard that you would need any extra bed cloth, pillows or even soap (though, there was soap for the shower) - everything would be delivered instantly if you had only asked. *Most of the houses here in Sagres do not have AC since this place its known for rather cold nights than warm (never hot) due to the proximity of the cold ocean and the cooling winds.

Paradise in the Algarve!

Villa Verde was a wonderful place to stay during our trip to the Algarve. Richard and Lena were attentive hosts who provided excellent recommendations during our stay. The property was clean, spacious and well equipped and the location was perfect to explore the south and west coasts of Portugal. We wouldn’t hesitate to return if we are lucky enough to visit Portugal again.

A casa tem camas confortáveis, a cozinha está muito bem equipada com tudo da mais alta qualidade, uma boa piscina e uma vista maravilhosa. A casa também é super perto da linda e tranquila praia do martinhal. Sempre que precisávamos o Richard estava pronto para nos auxiliar. E no aniversário de um dos nossos familiares, o Richard nos presenteou com uma deliciosa garrafa de vinho. Lugar perfeito para quem quer descansar e recarregar as baterias.

Relaxing and quiet week in Martinhal

Thanks so much to Lena and Richard for providing such a well-equipped villa for a truly relaxing week's holiday. The high point is the beautiful pool. The 12.5 metre length makes it perfect for swimming and the salt water makes it kind to your skin. Both girls really enjoyed improving their diving skills over the week! Casteljo beach and restaurant are well worth visiting.

Great Place to Make Memories

Lena and Richard were great hosts for our visit to Sagres. Their Villa could not have been more perfect for our family. Everything was pristine and well organized. We loved waking up and looking out over the huge pool to see the ocean in the distance while we ate our meals on the patio. The owners were very helpful with suggestions for dinner and other places to check out around Sagres and beyond. Out favorite was Nortada right on the beach - such great fresh fish walkable from the house. We could go to the beach and dinner without ever getting in the car. Best of all Lena and Richard went out of the way to make sure that our almost year old son had everything for a fun trip - not just a crib and high chair (the crucial things) but also beach toys, pool toys and even flaoties to swim. We hope we make it back to Sagres to stay at this villa again!

blissful end of summer getaway

We had a week at villa verde at the end of September. What a wonderful place. Exceeded all expectations. Perfect location just a couple of minutes walk from a tranquil beach and a 15 minute drive from some of the best surfy beaches we've visited. The villa itself is equipped with everything you could possibly need on holiday, great gas BBQ outside and water in the pool was just wonderful. Thank you so much.

Amazing Villa

Firstly, the Villa was absolutely immaculate, a huge amount of care and attention to detail inside and out. If you are looking for a Villa within easy reach of Faro this is a great choice. Restaurant Nortada, within 5 minutes walk and sitting on the beach, sells fresh fish and plenty of other options for our 9 year olds. Richard and Lena were the most gracious hosts, waiting for us on arrival to run through the Villa and local landmarks. Great tips for restaurants too, Selema had some fabulous options for fish and meat alike. A great villa, thank you. Richard and Janette

Perfect in every way!

It was a successful holiday. This is due to the owners of the villa, the location and the beautiful villa. First, the owners are very kind and generous ... helped us in every way. They have recommended us many places that we wouldn’t have seen them if they wouldn’t told us about them. Second, the location is a dream, with a beautiful and quiet beach where you can do many water sports (on the recommendation of the owner-Richard, we made wind surf with the best surfer-Dani ... was a unique experience). Thirdly, the villa is very well equipped, very modern and located just 3 minutes from the beach. The wind is quite strong in the area, but due to location of the villa, doesn’t feel at all. The pool is also great, the water is 28 degrees and is based on saltwater-perfect for our kids. We had a great time there and even if we stayed 3 weeks we didn’t tired of the beauty of the place. So, if you want to go…go because you will not regret it. Thanks for all Lena and Richard and see you in the near future! We promise that we will come back! Ramona and family

GREAT PLACE!!!!!!!

We spent a memorable week at villa verde. the villa is one of the closest to the beach within the whole neighbourhood, with a magnificent ocean view. Also worth mentioning is the fact that the property consists of 2 houses (a one bedroom cottage, and two bedroom main house), both very well equipped and nicely furnished. The swimming pool is 13 metres of length making it ideal for both swimming and relaxing. The water in the pool is warm and slightly salty. The white sandy beach which is a 3 minute walk from the property is very wide, perfect for windsurfers and is home to a very nice local restaurant Nortada. Sagres town which is full of restaurants and bars is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive and the supermarket is located on the way to town. There are a lot of interesting places to visit in the surrounding areas and a lot of small, picturesque towns between the red cliffs with hidden beaches. For golfers, there is a very nice golf course a 10 minute drive from the house. Finally, but perhaps most importantly, the owners of the property are extremely helpful in all respects and are very interesting and charming people. I definitely recommend Villa Verde for all of the above mentioned reasons - it is the ultimate location for both relaxing and spending time actively.

Just perfect

Everything amazing! We have stayed in the Cottage of the guesthouse and it was just amazing. When you arrive you are blown away by the amazin view. Just al little walk to the beach with nice dining and lunch restaurants to enjoy the local kitchen. The accomodation is even worth zeven stars! Amazin shower, Amazin pool with heated water. The use of a full equipped kitchen, BBQ and everything you need. Some times you dont even feel the need to go away for a day, since the stay is unbeleivably comfortable. The hosts are great, friendly and make you feel very welcome. They live just less then a minute away and are there when you need. A big recommendation, for families, group of friends or just with the one you love.

Sun, sand and luxury

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Verde; the house is spotless, beautiful and is equipped with top tier facilities. Only a couple of minutes away from a stunning beach, and only a short beach walk away from Sagres. A great place to relax and take in the scenery, excellent location and extremely gracious, welcoming hosts. A real treat!

Million Dollar View

We were welcomed by Lena and Rich after arriving late night, who were fantastic at making us feel great from the start. The place is gorgeous, extremely top standard! The property made us feel like a millionaires. The view is breathtaking, every day blue sky and light breeze. We stayed in resorts of Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Bora Bora and Fiji but this place is definitely must to visit. Short walk to fantastic beach, top rated restaurant nearby, historic places and charming small towns around. There is everything you need. Thank you Lena and Rich for having us. Awesome view, great villa

I really enjoyed my stay at Villa Verde. The owners are very nice and will give you great advice on where to eat - ask for the best fish in the country in a small village nearby(!). The villa has view on the sea and the beach is a minute away. We also really enjoyed the swimming pool. Sagres is a short walk away and if you go there and want to club, look for Topas, the local nightclub. I went with a few friends, it was awesome!
