About this property
Smuggs Mountain House w/Hot Tub, Sauna & River
Escape to the mountains at this spacious 3-bedroom Vermont retreat set along the Brewster River at the doorstep of Smugglers’ Notch Resort. With mountain views, room for the whole crew, direct trail access, and a riverside Nordic spa experience, this is an incredible four-season home base for families and groups.
Cross our suspension footbridge over the Brewster River for direct access to the Smugglers’ Notch Resort trail system. Spend the day skiing, hiking, or mountain biking, then come home to a soak in the shared riverside hot tub, warm up in the barrel sauna, or cool off with a natural cold plunge in the river.
A TRUE VERMONT MOUNTAIN RETREAT
This comfortable single-level home combines rustic Vermont character with everything you need for an easy mountain getaway.
The primary bedroom features a king-size memory foam bed and dedicated workspace. The second bedroom has a full bed, while the third is perfect for kids or additional guests with a full-over-queen bunk bed plus a fold-out twin chair.
After a day outside, gather in the living room on the plush leather couch, turn on the electric fireplace, and stream a movie on the 64” Roku TV.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, gas range, oven, dishwasher, cookware, dishes, and everything you need to prepare meals at home. An expandable dining table seats up to eight for family dinners, games, or morning coffee before heading into the mountains.
The home also includes a full bathroom with both tub and shower, in-home laundry, high-speed WiFi, comfortable memory foam mattresses, and soft linens.
CROSS THE BRIDGE & HIT THE TRAILS
One of the most special features of the property is our suspension footbridge across the Brewster River.
Walk across the bridge directly from the property and connect to the Smugglers’ Notch Resort trail system—giving you incredible hiking and mountain biking access without getting in the car.
In winter, Smugglers’ Notch Resort is just minutes away for skiing and riding. In warmer months, step outside for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and exploring the Green Mountains.
RIVERSIDE HOT TUB + BARREL SAUNA
After your adventures, follow the path down to the Brewster River and unwind at our shared outdoor spa area.
Soak in the year-round hot tub while listening to the river, warm up in the barrel sauna, then take an invigorating dip in the Brewster for a natural cold plunge. It’s our Vermont version of a Nordic spa—surrounded by forest, mountains, and rushing water.
Or skip the cold plunge altogether and simply relax in the hot tub beneath Vermont’s star-filled skies.
A FOUR-SEASON VERMONT ESCAPE
Winter means powder days at Smugglers’ Notch followed by hot tub and sauna sessions. Spring brings rushing water and quiet trails. Summer is for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and long evenings outside. Fall transforms the surrounding Green Mountains with spectacular Vermont foliage.
You’ll also be close to the restaurants, breweries, shops, and attractions of Cambridge, Jeffersonville, and the greater Smugglers’ Notch area.
GOOD TO KNOW
This home is the upper level of a duplex with a separate private apartment below. Each unit has its own entrance and private indoor living spaces.
The riverside hot tub and barrel sauna are shared with other guests on the property and available year-round.
Quiet hours begin at 11pm to preserve the peaceful setting for everyone. Parties and unauthorized guests are not permitted.
During winter, Route 108 through Smugglers’ Notch closes to vehicle traffic beyond the resort. Although Stowe is geographically close, the winter driving route around the mountain takes approximately one hour.
Whether you’re planning a family ski trip, summer adventure, foliage weekend, or simply want a few days surrounded by mountains and the sound of the river, this is a Vermont getaway built around enjoying the outdoors—and having an amazing place to come home to afterward.

The piece of property this house sits on is so beautiful. We enjoyed our stay so much and the host Tyler was very friendly to work with. We would stay again.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Emily. I’m glad you enjoyed the beauty of the land and found our house welcoming. Looking forward to hosting you again whenever you’re back in the area!
Overall great experience and beautiful place to stay with convenient places to hike and explore with family. I’m sad to see development for multi units on site since my ideal getaway doesn’t involve talking to others but as an investor it is a great spot to do what their developing on site.

Thanks for the lovely review — I’m glad you enjoyed the setting and nearby trails during your stay at our house. I appreciate the note and we’ll use your feedback as we continue improving the experience here; hope to host you again.
We had a great stay at the mountain house. The house and accomodations were very comfortable. The sauna was fantastic after a day of skiing, and the view over the stream was perfect. Just minutes from Smugglers Notch we didn't need to rush to get on the mountain, and quickly back at the end of a full day. We'd definitely stay again on another trip.
Absolutely unreal location particularly for a great weekend of skiing. The spot is fab and the host could not be a kinder, more on-top-of-his-game guy. We loved it and would be back in a heartbeat!
Great place to stay 2 minutes to mountain we had snow every day everything you need very clean and always responded immediately would definitely stay there again 5 year old grandson didn't want to leave
My family stayed here for the kids’ winter break. House was very clean and wonderfully decorated. Location is excellent for trips to Smuggler’s Notch - resort is just a 2 minute drive. Tyler was an excellent host - great communication and very responsive. Would definitely book here again!
Place was very clean and comfortable. There’s a large couch in the living room that’s is very comfortable and big enough for 2 adults to sleep comfortable on need be. The hot tub and sauna were both very clean and easy to use. You have to walk about 50 yards to access them, and they are shared with 3-4 other units on the property so just be aware they might not always be available and having crocks or some type of slip on boot is ideally needed to get to them from the house since the driveway gets a bit muddy or snow covered depending on the weather. All in all very comfortable place. Beds were all very comfortable.
