If you've read this far, we know you want the long version (and allllll the details!) When you stay here want to set your mind at ease, lessen your stress about traveling, packing, and logistics, and give you a place to truly unwind. Let rolling countryside mountain views, and the quiet charm of the Holler take you to a place of relaxation. Or plan your adventures - explore Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park; hike trails in George Washington National Forest or Andy Guest State Park; book an outing on the Shenandoah River, zipline, go horseback riding, or tour some local beverage spots!
A covered front porch welcomes you to take your boots off a rock for a while. The stylish but cozy main living space has an open plan for connection in the living room and dining room. An open doorway separates you from the spacious kitchen with a custom island, coffee and tea station, and all the amenities you need for cooking. Stash all your supplies for your stay in the walk-in pantry alongside our gear and paper goods, which you are welcome to use during your stay. Head through the mud room and laundry to the covered side porch, where you'll find a great outdoor dining space (Steph's fave spot for a morning cup of tea). Other main-floor amenities include a full bathroom and first-floor primary bedroom with an attached office and private en suite bath.
Outside, enjoy the fenced-in yard with your crew - playing lawn games, soccer, or football (we suggest two-hand touch ;D ), explore 16 acres of mountainside farmland, or take a long walk on private trails around the property. We invite you to bring your well-behaved dogs to enjoy the fully fenced property (bowls, paw wipes, and poop bags provided). Wander up the hill to a gorgeous view and drift along the lighted path to the "upper" fire pit. Stick close to the house to relax in Adirondack chairs next to the grill area and lower firepit, roasting marshmallows and enjoying a campfire before falling into cozy beds.
Upstairs settle the kids into the attic playroom, with two twin beds and some comfy chairs for bedtime stories. Two bedrooms are just down the hall with a full bath upstairs between them. The front bedroom even has private access with a balcony that overlooks the side yard and garage.
Each room has updated, quiet AC units for those hot summer nights - though we love to open the windows, turn on the ceiling fan, and listen to the summer peepers! In the winter, snuggle into our premium linens and fluffy warm duvets while the radiators keep you just the right amount of toasty!
We try to provide all the amenities you could hope for to make your stay as easy and restful as possible - towels and linens, coffee and tea, paper goods, blackout curtains, and toiletries. We're also big fans of small surprises and the thrill of the hunt, and we've made a custom treasure hunt to get you right into the adventuring spirit! We hope you'll come join us at Hollow Hill!
We're proud to offer the full farmhouse and property to you and your group. If you're a small group of 4 or less, we also have a reduced rate option that provides access to just one bedroom and the office and is intended to be available only for bookings with shorter notice. Such a wonderful stay! Our dogs loved the completely fenced in property. Hosts were incredibly welcoming and set up a treasure hunt across the property. Super fun, we will be back!
The property was perfect for our group of nine (seven adults and two toddlers). It was even more kid-friendly than we expected, with multiple play rooms, toys, and of court plenty of room outside. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates, etc. One of the best and most thoughtful VRBOs I've had the pleasure of renting!
The owners have done a great job of providing all the amenities needed for a fun, relaxing family vacation. The house is extremely clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. Their Welcome Book was very informative and helpful. Our grandchildren, ages 2 and 4, had a great time using the children’s playhouse, and their dog loved running around the fenced-in yard. We all enjoyed sitting out on the porch (love the swing) watching the deer and turkeys, birds and butterflies; and toasting marshmallows in the campfire. Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns, river rafting, the town of Luray and other fun activities are all close by. We had a wonderful time!
We loved our stay here with four adults, two walking 1 year-olds, and two big dogs. There was plenty of space for us and for the kids and dogs to explore; Lots of toys for the babies, pack-and-plays, a high-chair, etc. Great kitchen, beds, and showers. We loved the fenced in front yard for our dogs, although there were some chunks of the fence that had fallen that we weren't expecting from the listing, so the dogs were not as contained as we hoped, but it was great for being out there with them. The house is very close to Shenandoah and to downtown Luray, although the yard is immediately adjacent to a road with other houses and cars so despite the large yard and woods behind the house, it didn't feel remote as we expected. We came in the winter and would love to return in the spring or fall (or winter!)

Thanks Caroline! yes, unfortunately a contractor knocked over the gate to the additional 7 acre fenced side yard prior to your stay - sorry for the inconvenience - we're in the process of getting it fixed! I hope the fence and stream separating the yard as well as the 200' to the house from the relatively quiet dead-end road gave you enough sense of seclusion. While we don't take photos of our neighbors houses, I hope the couple of the front yard photos that you can glimpse them across the street were enough to give you a realistic sense of the yard. We'd love to have you back soon!
We had an incredible stay at the farmhouse! With 8 guests we expected it to be a little tight, but we had more than enough room to spread out. We made good use of the firepit and kitchen (which was incredibly well-stocked), and everyone had a blast!
The property feels very secluded and private while only being ~10 minutes from the nearest grocery store. The house itself is beautifully renovated. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated with modern appliances and the furnishings are rustic and cozy, perfect for an intimate stay with family/friends.
Our dog loved the place too, with plenty of space outside to explore and a path going up the property to a beautiful view!
The house is incredibly thoughtfully put together and makes for a really memorable experience. We'll definitely be coming back!!
This charming renovated farmhouse is the ultimate haven for those seeking comfort and relaxation in nature! The grounds offer endless opportunities for exploration with an onsite trail that brings you to a gorgeous vista of the surrounding area.
The inside of the farmhouse is captivating with its exposed wooden beams and tastefully curated decor that seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Every part of the house invites you to unwind and savor the simple joys of country living while also catering to the modern needs and wants that we are used to!
Above all, what sets this farmhouse apart from others is the genuine hospitality extended by the hosts. The ease of checkin/checkout, the way the house is setup to be dog/kid friendly and recommendations for activities in the area made our stay extraordinary!
I highly recommend this location for a getaway!!
Visited the farmhouse last weekend with my mother, husband, sister-in-law and two dogs. The main purpose of the trip was just to have a little getaway to do something with Mom at a location where our 14 month old Australian Shepherd would have plenty of room to run around. We all had a wonderful time, especially our pup, who played to her heart’s content. Communication with the host was outstanding! And the inside of the house was immaculately clean. While we enjoyed having 16 acres available to us, it is worth noting that the majority of the property is wooded with a lot of tall grass and at the time of year we were traveling ticks were a huge issue. So unfortunately, after pulling a bunch of ticks off of ourselves and our dogs, we really limited ourselves to the front yard, which was more than adequate. Of course the tick situation was no one‘s fault. Nature is nature. It’s just worth noting, and during other months of the year would not be a concern at all. I might even consider returning in the winter to enjoy the fire pits and snowy trails with the dog.
Beautifully updated farmhouse in a charming valley setting. Great for families!
We had a great stay at the Farmhouse! The property was easy to find and provided easy access to Skyline Drive / Shenandoah National Park and Luray while still feeling secluded in an idyllic valley setting.
The entire house has been thoughtfully renovated and strikes the perfect balance of rustic farmhouse charm with modern amenities. Very clean and well stocked throughout, with comfortable furnishings and a variety of places to gather. The house had lots of games, puzzles, and books to keep you busy as well.
The property itself is huge and completely fenced in, making it a great place to let the kids and dog safely roam and play. Ours especially enjoyed the creek and tire swing. Make sure you follow the path to the top of the property for some gorgeous views of the valley!
The hosts/owners were very responsive and have added a lot of personal touches to make the place even more special. The treasure hunt in the welcome basket was especially fun and a great way to begin exploring the property. (It only took us about 10-15 minutes)
Overall, we would definitely stay here again when visiting the area and would recommend it without hesitation!
