About this property

Gorgeous Nantahala Lake Front Log Home Retreat, SEE VIDEO #3 in pics

A traditional log home, completely wood inside and out. Just a small glimpse of heaven from this beautiful lakefront log home with breathtaking views of Nantahala Lake and the mountains surrounding it. The majestic mountains rising out of the crystal clear mountain lake waters are the backdrop for a wonderful vacation. This large body of water towers at the height of 3013 ft above sea level.

The spaces inside are large and comfortable for 10 people. The kitchen is fully equipped and modern with a Jenn-Aire dual fuel gas stovetop cooking and electric baking. The dining table will seat 8 people comfortably and has a view of the lake. The bedrooms all have queen or king beds. The basement has a pool table, a TV and a table top shuffle board table, all for your entertainment. It also has an additional bathroom with a shower/tub combination and a laundry room with a washer and dryer.

There is an outdoor fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores or build a fire outside and enjoy. If you choose to bring a boat, there is deep water, concrete, public ramp for launching nearby, and we have a deep water dock for keeping your boat during your stay. The lake is lowered by Duke Energy beginning around the middle of September, and it doesn't come back up until the spring. During these times, the dock will be resting on the lake bottom.
The gentle slope from the house to the lake and dock is easy to walk along the gravel path, which has a few landings. Enjoy sitting outside and watching the lake's water activities.
Photos of the interior can be relied on for a general feel of the furnishings; however, the furnishings may be changed from time to time. Photos of the exterior can be relied on for a general feel of the walk down to the dock. Don't think that they were taken yesterday, they weren't, but it is still the same backyard. The summer months have more foliage on the plants and trees than the winter months. The exterior photos were taken in the cooler months, and we don't show all the seasons in our photos. Heavy rains will cause the pea gravel to move, and that is unfortunate, but we don't have a lawn maintenance person to add more gravel. The mountains are natural, and we want to keep it that way.

There is a Harrah's Casino within a 45-minute drive.

Must be 28 years or older to rent.

The drive to the cabin is about 20 minutes of gravel, single-lane road, and is not conducive to low-riding vehicles.

Keywords: Lake Front Log Home, very private dock, easy access to the dock, lake frontage, nearby rafting, casino, secluded.

Perfect family vacation spot
From the breathtaking lake views, to the cozy yet spacious cabin everything is absolutely amazing. My family and I stayed a week, and didn’t ever want to leave the cabin. Such a relaxing spot and perfect for quality time, everything in the cabin is set up for an unforgettable stay. Highly recommend! The owners are amazing, and so helpful when needing questions answered as we are from Florida and things are a bit different down there. Can’t wait to plan another stay and come back.

Private great house, amazing lake
Our second time at Nantahala Lake, again amazing. We had a great time at this house, which was the perfect size, and loved the visits from otters and ducks. The dock was great, and allowed us to enjoy our boat and the lake to the fullest extent.

Wonderful Property
We rented this property for a gathering of close friends. The house is very well appointed and the location is amazing. We were able to rent a boat that was delivered right to the dock. Would highly recommend this for any large family.

About the host

We are from Central Florida. We have two children, both married. We are fortunate enough to have our children living near us and they all love to visit the lake house. Doug and our daughter are both Electrical Engineers and our son is a systems designer. I stayed at home and raised our children and have dabbled with interior design and I work from time to time on projects. We are looking forward to the time that we can stay at the lake house for longer than a week or 2 at a time. That will have to wait for now. Retirement is not in the near future for us.

Why they chose this property

We searched every camping vacation we planned in North Carolina for a piece of land to purchase and dreamed of building a log home on it. We saw an add on the internet one Christmas Day and went up the following April to take a look with the realtor. The lake was crystal clear, so big. We decide to buy right then and there. Looked a few pieces of lakefront property but settled on this beautiful hollow on a large cove along the shoreline of the lake. This story was established in 1998 and we have enjoyed it ever since.

What makes this property unique

We love this property for it's secluded feel and gentle slope to the water, no steps. That is much better for us flat landers. As we turn into the top of the driveway from the road we see our decorative gate and the emblem that says "Est. 1998". As we drive down the 1st part of the drive we are closed in by the beautiful and thick leyland cypress trees that line the driveway. It isn't until we make that first turn that we see the lake and the house. It's always a "wow" moment. The newest feature is the porte-cochere that we just built. A place to park the car without the rain or snow falling on us and covered steps to the front door. The concreted drive make is a breeze to get in and out of the drive now with our 4-wheel drive vehicle. Once we open the front door and walk into the house there is this expansiveness with windows all looking out to the back and the lake. We love the coziness of the exterior gas burning fireplace on the enclosed porch, the wood burning fireplace in the living space and the wood burning fireplace in the back overlooking the lake. The three levels give it the feeling like you may be the only one there while groups of people are playing pool and watching TV on the lower level, some napping in the upper level and hanging around the kitchen and the living space on the entry level. The enclosed porch is where I am most of the time, either reading or browsing the internet with a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers.
