Unplug and reconnect with what really matters at this unique and tranquil getaway. During your Juniper Creek Cottage stay, you will enjoy some of the original charm and details of the updated 1950s home, along with the beauty and excitement of nature just outside the doors. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch while watching the horses play across the street. Follow the babble of the creek, just steps behind the house. Explore local trails at the nearby Blackwater Forrest State Park.
This is a beautiful home built in 1950. The home sits on the front of the 10 acres, with Juniper Creek running through the middle of the property. We have worked to keep the home’s original charm, by exposing the stick built vaulted ceilings and heart pine floors, and refinishing the original claw foot tub. The ceilings are not enclosed (see photos). Many of the furnishings in the home are original to the time period in which the home was built. If you see something you like, it just might be for sale! Message the host to ask about pricing. Originally there was no central heat and air in the home so we installed a mini split unit, which heats and cools the home. There are additional fans and heaters in each bedroom, if needed. The bedrooms tend to get warmer in the summer and colder in the winter. The kitchen boasts its original cabinets, with a new butcher block top. There is a vintage style mid-sized refrigerator, a full size stove/oven, microwave, and drip coffee maker. There are additional kitchen items. The bathroom boasts a beautifully restored claw foot tub. We have high speed WiFi available via Starlink. There is a smart TV available in the living room. You can also stream to your own devices, using our high speed internet. The cell and internet service is great. There are books and games available, as well as plenty to enjoy outside. There is a shower nozzle that can be used in the tub as well. The intent of this property is to be a place to unplug and connect with one another and with nature.
There is a wooden picnic table and small charcoal grill on one side of the house. On that same side of the house, there is a nice fire pit area. Perfect for enjoying the outdoors!
The wooded area at the back of the house is where you will find signs directing you to Juniper Creek. The trail leads to two rustic wooden benches at the creek. The benches and signs are made from cedar trees harvested from the property. Breathe in the fresh air and smell of cedars while listening to the creek flow!
There are many deer, raccoons, squirrels, and rabbits that roam freely throughout the property.

Definitely a farm house. Would be great for kids with the 10acres. At the end of the road so was very quiet and serene. Could be a little more organized but overall it would definitely give it two thumbs up overall.
Such a great quiet spot! We loved the affordability of this spot to stay as a family of five. It was a great get away and still close enough to access the beaches and museums in Pensacola. The house was also clean and decorated cute. Thanks again!

My daughter and I stayed at the cottage and loved it! We enjoyed the spacious living room, comfy beds and well appointed kitchen. There was plenty of room on the large table to play board games and cards A very peaceful and lovely place to stay.

This property is very relaxing and we really enjoyed the cabin feeling. The decor was great and the open ceilings look pretty cool. The host was very nice and communicative when we needed. Very well taken care of and clean

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! You were wonderful guests and are welcome back anytime!
Great place to stay especially if you like your privacy. Very accomodating to our traveling pets who we didn’t have to leash every time we went outside. Clean, convenient and relaxing.
This little home was cozy and pretty comfortable. We liked it was pet friendly and secluded. The price is good and the host easy to work with. There are some neat furnishings there that give the home a 1950s era feel. Not exactly as specified in the listing but we did enjoy our stay.
I enjoyed staying in this cute, quiet house with my kids as a way to get away (but not too far away) from our busy lives. Kids enjoyed exploring by the creek and watching the horses. Host was great with communication, we had no issues.

Thanks so much for your review! We loved hosting you and your kids and are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
I loved this property it was so cute rustic and perfect for a getaway from electronics for my kids. I would stay here again the only downside was there is no washer or dryer
We had a great one night stay as we traveled through on our way across the country. Everything was as it said on the listing and there were no issues. Thank you!

My family and I needed a spot to have a small family gathering. Unfortunately, there were some things left out. Around the house was multiple wasps nests and we had a person that is severely allergic, the fridge was not clean with noticeable hair and the bathroom contained a bathtub with a hose not an actual shower. When I sent a message about renting the house, I let the host know we would be having a small Thanksgiving, but the host did not make me aware that the house did not have a full kitchen that the description says. There is a mini fridge, a small stove, and only like two pots and one pan. Also, there were no curtains for the bathroom window and a large window in the dining area. However, the living room and bedrooms were decent. There is also no insulation, which should’ve been written in the description. The air conditioning unit worked well, but I feel like that should be noted.

Thank you for your stay and feedback. We hope you had a wonderful stay and time with your family. The house and property details are clearly listed, as well as clear photos of the space. With it being in a wooded area, unfortunately insects are out of our control, although we will definitely take care of any wasp nests visible near the home. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Overall okay
We loved the charm and rustic, but feel that it lacked in bed comfyness and trash was still in the trash can outside from previous ppl. Overall house was pretty clean, and air conditioner worked very well.

Thank you for your feedback. We have upgraded our mattresses since your stay and have gotten wonderful feedback on the comfort of the beds. The outside trash is picked up once a week so unfortunately it cannot always be emptied before the stay. We hope you enjoyed your stay!
Private location but cannot recommend due to unsafe and unsanitary conditions. Dirty sheets!
I regretfully have to say that our stay at this VRBO was extremely disappointing. The biggest concern is that the sheets were visibly used, dirty, with hair and bugs and dirt on the top and fitted sheets (we have pictures) and bedding. It was gross and unsanitary and we ended up sleeping on top of a blanket on top of the bed. Disgusting. The property was in unacceptable condition, and I feel compelled to share my experience. The floor had holes allowing outside air and bugs nto enter the home. It was cold overnight and we tried to use the space heaters which didn't provide much heat and blew the fuses making us feel unsafe, so we had to turn them off. The concern over electrical and fire issues made this an even more stressful stay. The lack of ceilings in the home or between rooms allowed every sound to be heard by everyone, severely compromising privacy and rest. The bathroom was not functional—there was no shower curtain, no drain stop, and not even a shower head bracket to hold the shower head, making it impossible to properly use the tub or shower. Pillows flat and worn out. Kitchen items dirty. Unsafe outlets. Kitchen sponge was gross. We cleaned up dead roaches from kitchen. Cleaning and maintenance of the property were sorely lacking and we just cannot recommend that anyone risk their health or safety to stay here. We left as soon as we were able with minimal sleep and no bath or shower and wer're on to clean off the "yuck" of this stay.
Lovely rustic place with plenty of outdoor room to roam and view the creek! Great place for a couple of friends or just for one and your furry friend to just relax like we did. A/C is great, space to relax in the rooms is nice. Simplistic, rustic and just the right amount of out of the way! Bathtub is fun, fire pit stocked and boutique front porch is perfect to relax and recharge. Good value for the pricing. Want simple and away??? This is the place.
Booking and check in/out communications with the host were quick and simple. The property is exactly as described and pictured. The place is quaint and perfect for anyone who values peace and quiet. The yard has plenty of room for parking and pets if you bring them. The fire pit area is cute and there is a great little grill. There is fire wood and charcoal and lighter fluid for those who don’t plan ahead. The fridge inside is small but mighty and there is a stove and small oven for cooking. We drank and made ice with the tap water which had no off taste. Super cute glassware. The beds were actually super comfortable. Now, full disclosure yes the pictures are accurate, in case you don’t notice, there is no shower and open rafters throughout most of the house. It’s 2 bedrooms directly next to one another so sound barriers or not, your kids will hear you. The tub is great for kids or any perfectly capable adult or romantic couple. I’m 5’5 and had no issues sitting and washing my longer length hair with the hand sprayer. If you require a stand up shower, keep looking at other places. The coffee pot worked well and they even had coffee/filters that I’d forgotten. The check out instructions were super simple. No stripping linens and starting laundry. Lots of places charge cleaning fees but expect you to pretty much clean the place before you leave. Oh and they have a record player with lots of old country artists. WiFi worked great as did the AC.

About the host

Hello from the beautiful sunshine state! We were born and raised in the panhandle of Florida and are proud to call it our home. We are grateful to share this little slice of heaven with you!
Why they chose this property
Our family purchased this property at the end of 2020. We fell in love with it as soon as we walked around the woods and saw the creek. 2020 was a difficult year and we found peace and rest in nature. Our hope for Juniper Creek Cottage is that it will always be a place of rest and rejuvenation for everyone who visits. We hope you have the best experience possible. We have added some of our favorite local spots for dining and exploring. Feel free to ask questions!
What makes this property unique
Unplugged. Surrounded by nature. Too many cedar trees to count. Remote. Peaceful. An opportunity to take a step away from the hustle and bustle.
