There was no communication with the host. Infact vrbo refunded our money after vrbo attempted to contact the host and they also did not get a response. Very disappointing. Should this property even be listed?
This cabin was a lovely little place to spend a few days exploring the surrounding park and activities. The setting was picturesque with the river so close. Luckily, some of the best hiking is very near the cabin (Glen Creek Area), but the other hiking areas are about 30 minutes away and all the best restaurants are in Fayetteville. Since the park is so spread out along the New River, you can't be close to everything, so this was fine for us. The cabin was clean as can be. The shower temp varied between scalding and cold, and we asked the owner about it and he gave us a few tips to keep the water temp consistent the entire shower.
What an absolute beautiful place to stay! Our grandkids from Florida wanted to see snow. This place became available and I'm beyond thrilled every thing turned out as it should! Not a bad drive to the Ski resort. We loved it all! Super clean and fully stocked! Looking forward to future stays! Joe was great!!
Very nicely remodeled property right on New River and close to several sections of National a park for hiking. Had everything we needed for peaceful weekend. Rafting was out for us this weekend due to very high waters.
We loved the location. The only bad thing was the driveway was too steep to park on so you have to park at the bottom and carry everything up when you get there and down when you leave. The house was great and the views are even better.
Amazing Cabin in the New River Gorge National Park
This place is amazing. Waking up to the sound of the river rushing over the rapids was heavenly. It's conveniently located inside the park. Hiking, fishing, rafting, anything you're interested in doing is close by.
Wonderful cabin by the river! Beautiful location in the country. Close to towns for dining out and shopping. Lots of outdoor activities to participate in, if you like. The host was very responsive to questions and suggested several great local places to eat. We will definitely visit again!
We stayed for two nights at Granny’s Cabin. Everything was there to make our stay comfortable. We visited different parts of New River Gorge NP for two days. We also visited Tamarack which is an artisan venue all with hand made items from West Virginians. Very unique items. Good place to explore the National Park and the River.
This location was the perfect home base for us as we explored the New River Gorge National Park. Mornings and evening were spent sitting on the lovely porch listening to the river while we drank our coffee or cocktails. The cabin was really nice and comfortable. Like others mentioned there is no cell service and spotty WiFi but that was perfect for us since we all disconnected from our addictive rectangles. Just a heads up to bring a jug of water for the coffee maker in case like us you stop at the store before checking in. Oh and it was an honor to learn the history of Granny Tabor!
This site is simply amazing. Clean, out of the way, and beautiful setting. The communication with the host was amazing! He was responsive, knew the area well, and offered many helpful suggestions about the area (like the hidden beach down the road). He went way above and beyond making sure our stay was perfect.
I have read some reviews about the Wifi; no, there is no cell reception, as you are on top of a mountain! But the Wifi hotbox worked just fine! We had a wonderful time, and created great memories.
If your looking for a quiet, secluded, riverside cabin this is the one for you. We visited the Grandview, New River Gorge bridge, Endless Wall trail, and went white water rafting on the Lower New River(short drive from them all). Loved waking up in the morning, drinking coffee on the front porch, watching the humming birds and listening to the sounds of the rippling water. Only regret is that we didn’t stay longer!
Overall, it was a great stay. The only downside was that we did not have internet or cell service (we have verizon). The owner did let us know that there was a problem with the wifi on our first night and after talking to some of the locals we gathered this is a common problem. Unplugging was part of the plan for our trip but we couldn't even google information on the local attractions or even pull up a map without driving away from the cabin where cell service was better (kind of embarrassing how reliant on the internet we are!). I would still recommend this rental but if you are planning a stay I would recommend you do research ahead of time on any places you want to go and bring a map just in case.
We rented this cabin to celebrate my birthday weekend, and had the loveliest time! The host worked hard to accommodate our early check-in request, and was eager to help with any questions we had.
The location is right in the national park, about 30 minutes from the Bridge and Canyon Rim Visitor Center. The street is very quiet and right across from the river and mountains, absolutely beautiful. I loved sitting on the front porch with my coffee every morning, and also in the evening to watch all the fireflies!
The only thing to note is that wifi and phone service is very limited. This ended up being a plus for us, loved getting to unplug, but would be an issue for anyone trying to work remotely.
Overall, I highly recommend! Gorgeous spot, lovely host, very clean: great little retreat.
