About the host
Hosted by Lex de Azevedo
Azevedo Ranch has been a long-time vision brought to life.
I’m Lex, and my wife Rose and I are the owners of Azevedo Ranch. I spent many years in the music industry in Hollywood as a record producer, composer, and arranger. After living in Hollywood, I relocated to Salt Lake City, but ultimately wanted something very different — a peaceful place where my family could gather, slow down, and enjoy time together away from the noise.
I found that here on this 101-acre “Garden of Eden”, Azevedo Ranch.
We were guided by divine inspiration and bought the riverfront property in 2018, Since then, we have built the barn, the Studio we live in, and the Cowboy Cabin; we expanded & stocked the lake, and added the sweeping front lawn for family gatherings. This gem in the desert has been thoughtfully shaped over the years into a rare and beautiful place I love, with trees, green space, and a small lake, which is not something you come across often in this part of dry-desert Utah.
We have built this as a place centered around family. Between us, we have eleven children, along with 40+ grandchildren and now even 7+ great-grandchildren. The ranch was created with all of them in mind: a place to visit, reconnect, and simply be together.
Rose is Brazilian and we spend much of the cold winters in Brazil or warmer places. We are both fluent in Portuguese.
Azevedo Ranch is our home and remains a central gathering place for family and beloved friends.
Today, we share the ranch with guests who are looking for that same sense of calm and space — whether you’re here to explore Bryce Canyon and the surrounding parks, or just to enjoy a quieter, more grounded stay. Many guests who stay with us plan to visit Bryce… but they never leave our Ranch! It’s truly unique and peaceful.
This isn’t a resort. It’s a family-owned ranch, built with intention, and meant to be experienced that way.
We’re glad you’re here.

Why they chose this property
We chose this area for its quiet, open space and its proximity to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. And the best part: "A River Runs Through it."
The ranch sits just off Highway 89 on the Sevier River, about 1.9 miles south of the turnoff to Bryce Canyon. That means you’re close enough to easily explore Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and the surrounding areas — but far enough away to come back to peace and quiet at the end of the day.
This part of southern Utah is known for its wide-open views, dark skies, and slower pace. It’s not crowded or commercialized, and that’s exactly why we chose it. We are a short 15 minute drive to the Main Street of Panguitch, where there is one grocery store, and places to eat and shop. We are about 1.25 hours from Cedar City, the closest major city where we frequent Natural Grocers once a week.
What makes this property especially unique is the contrast. The surrounding area is high desert, but the ranch itself has trees, grass, and a small lake — something you don’t often find out here. It creates a setting that feels calm, grounded, and a little unexpected.
It’s a place where you can spend the day exploring and then come back to something that feels restful and real.

What makes this property unique
Azevedo Ranch is not a typical vacation rental — and that’s intentional.
The ranch itself is a rare oasis in the high desert, with a small lake for floating, paddleboarding, fishing or canoeing, mature trees, and green space that set it apart from the surrounding landscape. It offers a setting that feels peaceful and alive, without being busy or overdeveloped.
The property includes three separate guest accommodations, each with its own private space, while sharing the natural beauty of the ranch. It’s a balance of privacy and openness that many guests appreciate.
You’ll also notice wildlife, of course, but the Ranch is home to our own animals, which adds to the experience in a simple, authentic way. We have a small herd of A2A2 Jerseys, alpaca, mini goats, a variety of chickens, two friendly but untrained horses, and two barn cats.
And, our white “wolf” Aunie the Husky.
This is a hobby ranch, not a commercial operation, and the atmosphere reflects that — quiet, natural, and unforced.
What guests tend to value most is the feeling they get here. It’s calm. It’s spacious. It’s different from staying in town or in a more typical rental.
It’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy where you are — whether that’s sitting by the lake, walking the property, or just taking in the surroundings after a day of exploring.
