Reservation was cancelled right before check-in without prior notice

Did not get to stay at the location because property owner cancelled the reservation. They did this right before we were supposed to check in. There was no prior notice or any notice. I asked for the check in details and the reservation was cancelled right then and there. Owner stated he no longer had the property. If this was the case then why was there no notice given or the listing pulled? Real estate deals are not done on a day to day basis, so they had to know it wasn't going to be available. I reserved it and even communicated with the owner who stated we could grill there. Fast forward to the check in day and it was cancelled. Almost ruined our trip.

Reservation was cancelled by host same day as check-in.

I wasn’t receiving updates about check-in so I reached out to the host. He said he’d have to get back to me. The morning of our scheduled stay, I received a text stating our reservation was cancelled. And another notifying me that a refund had been processed.
