The Loft by the Lake

Stay somewhere with a little character! The Loft by the Lake is a beautifully renovated 2-bedroom suite located on the second floor of a historic bank building in Howard, Pennsylvania.

As our way of saying thank you for staying with us, your stay includes 1 complimentary pizza from Brother's Pizza Howard, located on the first floor. A pizza coupon will be provided for you to use during your stay.

With Bald Eagle State Park practically in your backyard, you'll have easy access to the lake and the area's outdoor recreation. Penn State University and Lock Haven University are both within about 30 minutes, making the Loft a convenient home base for football weekends, college visits, family trips, outdoor adventures, or simply a relaxing getaway.

And if you decide to stay in, you don't even have to leave the building for dinner. Brother's Pizza is located on the first floor, making it easy to grab a meal and settle in for the evening.

Need additional space for a larger group? This Old House is located right next door and may be available to reserve along with the Loft. Contact us before booking and we'll be happy to discuss options for your group.

The Space

The Loft is spacious, bright, and full of character. All of the rooms feature high ceilings, large windows, and plenty of natural light, creating an open and comfortable atmosphere.

The entire second-floor suite is yours to enjoy, giving you plenty of room to relax, eat, sleep, or spend time together.

Guest Access

Guests have private access to the entire upstairs Loft, including both bedrooms, the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and all other areas of the suite.

Sleeping Arrangements

Please review the sleeping arrangements carefully when planning your stay:

Bedroom 1: King-size bed
Bedroom 2: Queen-size bed + Twin bed that pulls out into a King-size bed
Living room: Sofa that pulls out into a Queen-size bed

The Loft is located on the second floor of a historic building, so guests should be comfortable using stairs.

Great Place

One of the best VRBO places we have ever stayed. Spacious, clean, everything you could ever imagine they supply, and its in a quiet neighborhood. We loved visiting downtown Bellefonte.

Great location

Apartment was perfect for our stay. Spacious- clean-easy check in & out. Host owns the pizza restaurant under the apartment and the food was delicious! Easy drive to PSU🐾

Enjoyable Stay

Over all it was enjoyable stay. Pros: Close to Bald Eagle State Park. I enjoyed having coffee in the porch area. Clean. Cons: Shower did not get hot enough.

Awesome place!

This is a really nice place. We could walk for food. We spent a lot of our time at the lake. The owner was very nice and accessible. You would not be disappointed if you stayed here.

Wonderful stay

This property was in a quaint location above a pizza restaurant in an old bank. The property was spacious with high ceilings. It was wonderfully appointed with a generous supply of toiletries, phone chargers, throw blankets, ceiling fans and air conditioning units with remotes in each bedroom.

Nice option for game day

We were looking for a place close to State College for a quick overnight stay. We were pleasantly surprised! The decor was updated with some antique charm. The coffee bar in the sun room was great for our friends to gather in the morning. Our stay was quick but would recommend it!

We loved everything, the only 2 complaints we had was spiders were a big problem, and the listing said there was a hot tub which was a big selling point for me and it turned out there wasn’t. Other than that everything was great !

Worked out Great

We were happy with our stay. We were looking for an affordable place to stay for a Penn State game and this property is a great fit. Pay attention to a couple of details: The apartment is located above a pizza shop in an old bank building (presented no issues), there is 1 bathroom, with 6 people this required some management, but was still workable and finally there is a significant security deposit so be prepared for that and it was refunded after 2 weeks (so also be prepared for having some money tied up for a while). All said, I still give this property 5 stars and would stay there again. It is 30 minutes from the PSU campus so pack up and plan your trip(s) into town.

Easter Weekend

We stayed here to spend the Easter weekend with two of our sons who attend Penn State. The apartment has TONS of room - two bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen, plus a bonus coffee nook with separate sitting area. The kitchen was well equipped with cookware and utensils to cook for a family. Parking was incredibly convenient, right by the door to go up the stairs to the apartment. Security was good, with two locked doors between the parking lot and apartment. The lake was just a short walk away. The town of Howard is short on amenities, so plan to drive over to nearby Bellefonte or Mill Hall for the larger stores. One nice bonus is the owner's pizza place on the ground floor of the building. The pizza and calzones were excellent, and SO convenient. We really enjoyed our Easter weekend at Loft by the Lake.

Since purchasing the building my pizza shop is in i decided to add add short term rentals to my list of things to do . For those guests who care to chat, i enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories.

This neighborhood chose me. I once got laid off and saw there was a pizza shop for sale in Howard, Pa. The rest is history.
