About this property
Cooks Gardeners will love this 2 BDR Home in West Asheville
This 2 bedroom/1 bathroom house is located in Asheville, North Carolina, and has everything you need to feel at home, or like you are staying awhile with an old friend. It is part of Enka Village, built by the Dutch company that started a textile mill here nearly 100 years ago. The village was home to the workers at the plant that operated up until the 1990s. A few folks who worked at the plant still live in the village, but now it is filling up with young families and young retirees who appreciate the convenient location and neighborly feeling of the village. The village is situated just adjacent to Pisgah National Forest giving access to miles of hiking and biking trails, an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway, access to Bent Creek Preserve, and the NC Arboretum.
The houses may look alike on the outside, but they have been updated creatively on the inside to suit more modern times. In my home, the downstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed, and a room that I use as my studio/office. The bathroom has tile floors and a tub/shower combo. Previous owners converted the attic space so that there is a bedroom upstairs, also with a queen bed. Upstairs also is a sitting room perfect for working out or just relaxing. There's plenty of outdoor space in this quiet, walkable neighborhood. You can sit on the front porch to watch the world go by, slowly. Or on the back patio looking out on the yard and flower garden. If you are lucky, and the weather cooperates, you might enjoy the harvest from the 3 blueberry bushes, 2 cherry trees and ever-growing fig tree in the yard. The washer and dryer, and lots of storage, are in the basement, adjacent to the patio and garden
The open-plan kitchen features stainless steel appliances, with all cooking basics, both ingredients and utensils provided for when you feel like cooking at home. When you dont, Asheville is home to countless restaurants, food trucks, diners, coffee shops etc. And lets not forget the breweries, cideries, wineries, distilleries and any other type of drink you can think of.
You can walk to the Enka-Candler Branch Library, medical offices, and neighborhood restaurant, Griffs. And less than a five-minute drive away you will find grocery stores, the YMCA, drugstores and more. This location has very easy access to interstates I-40 , I-26 and I-240. If you are into Little League Baseball, there are two ballfields a 5-minue walk just across the way, and ,oh, on your way to the game, you can stop at the Wicked Week brewery for a cold one.
This is clearly the house of a real cook and gardener, shes just gone for awhile, and wants someone to enjoy her home and garden while she is away.
