Hello, this is Jon, I visited the Sequoias backpacking to the many lakes in 1968. I have gone every year since. Started ranching Black Angus cattle in 1972 and farmed and grew nursery stock in the great central valley until 2004. I continue to raise cattle and Quarter Horses and provide our BnB guest with ranch horseback rides and tours of the many Chumash Indian relics and Dumtah winter camp and village site on our foothill ranch. Among the Valley Oak woodlands and spring feed streams our guest enjoy learning about the unique fauna and flora of our area. Come visit and ride along!
Hello this is Lilly, I am a native of this in rural part of the Great Central Valley of California. The charming small town of Exeter and the surrounding ranches owned by my family, was where I learned to be a cowgirl and appreciate the incredible beauty of this part of California. I spent summers in the “high country “ of Sequoia National Park, going on horse trips with my father, who was a professional guide.
After an exciting career in Las Vegas as a professional dancer and Ballet, yoga and Pilates teacher at UNLV, I came home and decided to share my very special ranch with guests who want to experience another part of California.

Why they chose this property
This area of the foothills in the central California Valley at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are a unique biosphere Jon chose this property and developed it in the 1980s.
Prior to that time it was open range land. Jon maintained quite a few thousands of acres as grazing land and wildlife refuge.
The history of this area and the beauty and convenient semi rura location are what attracted us to Mehrten Valley.

What makes this property unique
Our ranch house, opens up to the thousand acres of grazing land for our Angus cows. There are native oak woodland forests and springs and ponds, where the Chumash tribe, had their winter camps and the first Europeans from the American Midwest , began farming this region of California.
Most visitors and even California residents never have an opportunity to see this part of California because it is all private fenced land. Our guests can hike or ride our horses to a part of California few get to experience.
Our guests have a perfect location exactly in between Sequoia National Park and the vibrant county seat of Visalia, which is full of shopping , entertainment and some of the finest restaurants in California and the charming village of Exeter and Three Rivers which are known for their local artists and antique stores.
Staying at any of the facilities on our ranch, and having access to the scenery and ranch life experience , is something you will not find anywhere else.
