Lily was a great host. Very relaxing, peaceful stay. Everyone we encountered was very nice and helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing place in the country where you can go for walks and pet horses, this is the place you want to stay at.
We had an amazing experience--what a fantastic place to stay! The ranch is beautiful, and we had an outdoor patio where we could sit and enjoy the evenings. There's a little kitchen, and we picked up food at the supermarket. We booked a horse experience and a trail ride, and those experiences were incredibly special. Lilly gave us advice on going to King's Canyon in addition to Sequoia--initially, we were hesitant because of the drive, but are so glad that we went. She also advised us to go out to Monet's in Exeter for a special French meal--what an excellent meal!
Wonderful place and amazing experience! They go above and beyond to make your stay feel like you’re genuinely home! Great people with a gorgeous property!!

This is a gorgeous place to stay. The pool was amazing and the environment was beautiful. I failed to realize the kitchen was outside when I booked and doesn’t have a sink outside which makes cooking a bit challenging. I also didn’t know the AC was run by the main house and would be turned off at night (second night we were told to open the windows to help cool the place down). We enjoyed hanging with the outdoor cats and dogs who were super friendly and could see the horses in the pen in the front. Both porches were beautiful and being able to turn the living room into a second bedroom was a major plus. The owner seemed distant and at times a bit abrupt but it could have been because one of her horses was sick at the time of our stay.
Lilly and Jon were very warm and welcoming. Great communication. Very clean and comfortable space. Highly recommend the guided horse ride and a soak in the jacuzzi after.

We loved our stay here!A beautiful setting…so peaceful and quietLily was great host…very helpful and easy talk to!The pool area was absolutely beautiful. An unexpected experience was the evening horseback riding with Molly and Salty! The scenery was spectacular!
Our stay on this expansive ranch was a truly great vacation filled with very special, one-of-a-kind experiences. The warm hospitality of Lilly, Jon, and Xander made our time here truly memorable and unique. We absolutely loved the activities, especially the scenic horse riding and the adventurous pickup truck ride through the mountains. Kids were in heaven, spending their entire days outdoors—zipping around on golf carts, interacting with the horses, and freely exploring the ranch. This is definitely a must-visit place for an authentic, unforgettable getaway!
We had a wonderful time horseback riding with Jon and Lily at their beautiful ranch in California. The couple who hosted us were incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even more special.
The owners are onsite & were very helpful & super friendly. The property is out in the country, nice & quiet. A beautiful setting. Close to Sequoia & Kings Canyon. I had a great stay there. Loved the animals.

Dear Jennie
We miss you too. Please come back and we will have more conversations.
Blessings to you.
Cute little place perfect for a night or 2. Comfortable and cozy. Loved all the animals on site! Only bummer was not being able to explore much of Exeter, as most everything is closed on Sun/Mon (when we were there). Lilly and Zander were great hosts.
We enjoyed the pool and open space. The living room has a couch that makes into a bed and a door, so it was like having two bedrooms. The only drawback was being a bit farther from Sequoia than I realized.

Thank you Freya for pointing out that the living room actually has a door and the guests using the pullout bed have a private bedroom.
We are only 20 miles from the Ash Mountain ENTRANCE to Sequoia NP. The 16 miles to Three Rivers is a big highway and goes around Lake Kaweah as you saw..
That portion of the trip takes about 25 min,, but it takes another 40 min to get to the Giant Sequoias and the visitor center etc, AFTER YOU have entered the Park., it seems like it’s further than it really is . All visitors to the Park must travel that steep winding road.
The advantage to staying on our ranch is that you are also only 20 min away from great shopping and restaurants in Exeter and Visalia. Our charming little valley towns, AND the foothills , studded with native valley oaks and our meadows and grazing land.
So basically, we are halfway between Sequoia NP and the towns, but on a scenic cattle ranch.
For me ,
You can’t get better than this.
See you ladies next trip

It was absolutely perfect. Lilly was very frendly and made us feel right at home. Our 10 year old boy couldn't wait to get back to the property to play with her son. They had a great time(in and out of the pool). The location is perfect, secluded yet, close to Sequoia and just a short drive to fine food. Extremly relaxing, we will defiantly be back.

About the host
Hosted by Lilly Hart
Hello, this is Jon, I visited the Sequoias backpacking to the many lakes in 1968. I have gone every year since. Started ranching Black Angus cattle in 1972 and farmed and grew nursery stock in the great central valley until 2004. I continue to raise cattle and Quarter Horses and provide our BnB guest with ranch horseback rides and tours of the many Chumash Indian relics and Dumtah winter camp and village site on our foothill ranch. Among the Valley Oak woodlands and spring feed streams our guest enjoy learning about the unique fauna and flora of our area. Come visit and ride along! Hello this is Lilly, I am a native of this in rural part of the Great Central Valley of California. The charming small town of Exeter and the surrounding ranches owned by my family, was where I learned to be a cowgirl and appreciate the incredible beauty of this part of California. I spent summers in the “high country “ of Sequoia National Park, going on horse trips with my father, who was a professional guide. After an exciting career in Las Vegas as a professional dancer and Ballet, yoga and Pilates teacher at UNLV, I came home and decided to share my very special ranch with guests who want to experience another part of California.
Why they chose this property
This area of the foothills in the central California Valley at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are a unique biosphere Jon chose this property and developed it in the 1980s. Prior to that time it was open range land. Jon maintained quite a few thousands of acres as grazing land and wildlife refuge. The history of this area and the beauty and convenient semi rura location are what attracted us to Mehrten Valley.
What makes this property unique
Our ranch house, opens up to the thousand acres of grazing land for our Angus cows. There are native oak woodland forests and springs and ponds, where the Chumash tribe, had their winter camps and the first Europeans from the American Midwest , began farming this region of California. Most visitors and even California residents never have an opportunity to see this part of California because it is all private fenced land. Our guests can hike or ride our horses to a part of California few get to experience. Our guests have a perfect location exactly in between Sequoia National Park and the vibrant county seat of Visalia, which is full of shopping , entertainment and some of the finest restaurants in California and the charming village of Exeter and Three Rivers which are known for their local artists and antique stores. Staying at any of the facilities on our ranch, and having access to the scenery and ranch life experience , is something you will not find anywhere else.
