About this property
2 Dog Lodge · 2 Dog Lodge, 4-Season Dog Friendly Cabin + yard
Summary:
Summer fun is hear at this guest favorite family-cabin that is the BEST option if you're bringing the puppos to the mountains. What's our super-power?? Besides well supplied cabin, guests (and their dogs!) LOVE the enclosed yard area for doing zoomies, chasing balls, roasting s'mores and more.
2 Dog Lodge is a fun retreat in the wooded neighborhood of Camp Connell. Every season offers something special. The cabin is especially family friendly and "dog functional" with level yard with low-fence is great for everyone to play.
The cabin is located to access everything from Arnold to Bear Valley!
The Space:
2 Dog Lodge is ideal for small groups and families who want a quiet escape in the mountains and are bringing the fur-babies along for the adventure. Check out our social content and reviews ! Throughout winter we stock firewood, kindling, fire-starters and old newsprint so you can easily keep the cabin cozy and warm ~ wood heat is good heat :)
Downstairs you'll find a kitchen with everything needed to cook complete meals, plus a comfortable living room & dining setup. There's a bedroom with king bed, walk-in closet and dedicated workspace downstairs, plus full bath and laundry. Upstairs you'll find a spacious bedroom with 2 queen beds, huge closet, porta-crib and dog beds which you can use, plus attached bathroom with shower.
55" smart TVs in the living room and the upstairs bedroom will keep everyone entertained when outdoors adventures wrap up. The wifi is fast enough to stream or work-from-cabin too.
Access to the cabin is super-easy: level and flat entrance from the county road, plus parking for up to 3 cars just steps from the front porch. We have a small deck with seating and a Charbroiler gas bbq. Patio furniture, Adirondack chairs, a gas fire-pit and a redwood picnic table give you numerous options for how and where to enjoy the property.
**Summer updates: we've added a propane fire-table and a redwood picnic table to the yard, so be sure to bring marshmallows for toasting**
Guest Access:
You'll access the cabin with a smart-lock. We'll send you the code and wifi password before you arrive. The entire cabin and yard is yours to enjoy! Keep in mind that you're in the mountains and weather, critters and terrain can surprise you at any time - even in the fenced yard area. Don't leave children or pets unattended, please.
The Neighborhood:
Quiet forested mountain neighborhood at 5000' elevation. Easy access from Hwy 4 east of Dorrington, just minutes away from high alpine adventures year around.
Getting Around:
Parking for the cabin is off-street, we have a level and driveway with easy access from the county road. Plow services throughout the winter help maintain access.
Snow and ice: at 5000' we can get snow and/or freezing temperatures any time between October and May. During the winter it is best to always carry chains and come up in an all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicle with all-season or snow tires.
Other Things to Note:
You'll lose cell service along Hwy 4 most of the way from Murphy's to the cabin. **Be sure to download your check in instructions before you lose service**
House rules will be emailed with your reservation confirmation.
Interaction with Guests:
As hosts we are available (remotely) to provide support or answer questions most days 7am - 8pm. We have local cleaners and support personnel in the event of something seriously wrong and will do our best to remedy any situation that impacts your stay. Generally, the cabin creates a very independent experience for guests who enjoy an escape to the mountains.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Costello

We are Northern California born and we love the mountains and we love our dogs! Camp Connell and the "Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway" put you in the center of year-round outdoor fun and adventure. Every season is distinctly different. Being able to bring the pups along on our adventures is always a special treat, so we set up the 2 Dog Lodge with amenities that we too would love to see when travelling.
Why they chose this property
2 Dog Lodge is the cabin-in-the-woods that we would want to rent for a mountain getaway. Where can we go with high alpine adventures, cozy family living, dog friendly and with an enclosed yard & play area... but also close to authentic small-town amenities, dining and recreation? This is it... Camp Connell, Calaveras County, Alpine County, the area around Arnold and 2 Dog Lodge make this property a wonderful place for fun, adventure, relaxation and getting away for a few days or longer!
What makes this property unique
Some cabins are "dog friendly". 2 Dog Lodge is "dog functional"!! Inside the cabin you'll find dog bowls for both food and water, some spare leashes, dog treats, poop bags and vinyl plank floors. Outside... we have a small deck and a large yard enclosed with "wildlife friendly fencing". This means your puppos (and kids) are contained within the play area, while your views of the forested neighborhood are not blocked.
Our little corner of town the community is quiet, has very little traffic and our property is level and easily navigated. We even have a seasonal creek that kids and dogs are sure to get their paws muddy in!
The cabin is ideal for small groups or families of 2-6 people, however if you're willing to get cozy the 4 beds really sleep 8 guests and then of course there is a porta-crib too.
