I highly recommend this lodge! We had a wonderful time and couldn’t have asked for a better place for our family getaway. This home is perfectly designed for three generations, with our family ranging in age from 73 years old to 6 years old.The view is amazing! The lake and mountains are absolutely incredible.DJ’s communication was amazing, from the directions to all the helpful details about the house. Everything we could possibly need was provided, from cooking supplies to lake toys. The house itself is beautiful, comfortable, and truly felt like a home away from home.I’m already looking at dates for next year! Thank you, DJ and Cristy, for sharing your beautiful home with us. We made some wonderful family memories that we’ll cherish!

AMAZING CABIN

Annual family vacation

We had a group of 15 people, 8 adults and 7 children ages 8 months to 13 for a week at Lake Nantahala. This house was well equipped and accommodated our group nicely. The lake is great for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and boating. Everyone had a great time.

Family vacation

We really enjoyed our week at the cabin! Everyone from young to old had a great time. The cabin was comfortable, very clean and had a great open living space as well as all the kitchen ware you could possibly need for a large group! We highly recommend this property for large family groups.

This house did not disappoint! Clean, beautiful, spacious. Great spot on the lake. Stone steps down to lake a little tricky for our older family members. Kayaks provided were thoroughly enjoyed. Would stay again.

4th of July family getaway

Terrific for the whole family! Our youngest is 1 and oldest is 79 and there was something comfy and fun and thoughtful for every single one of us. Great job thinking of absolutely everything, DJ and Kristy!

Our 1 week stay at bear lodge was wonderful. The cabin was perfectly equipped for our large group. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. the kitchen was also stocked with all the essentials. DJ was a wonderful host who communicated throughout our stay. Incredible views and comfortable home. Would recommend to anyone!

The cabin is even more wonderful than the pictures. It is so spacious, clean, exceptionally well stocked and comfortable. Ten members of three generations of our family had a fun, relaxing and lovely week. We all slept well in the comfortable beds and had plenty of room to relax throughout the inside and outside of the house. The three porches were well appointed with comfortable furniture. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals and plenty of place settings. The deck was fantastic for swimming, fishing and kayaking. The hosts provided everything we needed to enjoy the breathtaking lake and surroundings. The hot tub was the nicest we’ve ever had at a rental, large and remarkably clean. The hosts were responsive and helped us reclaim an accidentally left item. I would recommend this house without reservation for maximum enjoyment of lake Nantahala and the surrounding area.

Mansion in the Mountains

We have been coming to the mountains for many years with our children/grandchilren- this lodge was by far the best ! Fully equipped with many extras! Owner easy to contact with quick responses! Our family is looking forward to a return visit!

Fun mountain retreat!

The house was exactly as described with ample room for our 11 family members. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking large meals. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Nantahala lake was fun for all and the view was breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would love to return. Highly recommend this house for a memorable vacation.

Gorgeous views and spacious

Wonderful property, great space, awesome views, clean. Had everything you need for a comfortable stay. Did not need extra paper towel or diswasher pods like in most of the rentals before. Tesla charger! Very responsive owners.

Family vacation 2024

Our stay on Lake Nantahala at DJ’s luxury cabin was very enjoyable. In addition to a very spacious home, many water “toys” accompanied the property. It was nice having a dock as our kids rented a pontoon boat for the week. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, the spectacular views, and the well stocked kitchen for our large family. A memorable week was had by all!

2023 Lake Nantahala

This was our 4th trip to Lake Nantahala and our our 4th different house. The Bearfoot Lodge was the best of them all! From the moment we started communicating with DJ until the time we walked out the door everything was perfect. The house itself is amazing, perfect layout, great views, easy water access, water toys, and all the amenities. We will definitely return!!!

Top Notch All Around

We searched for a lakefront property all over the southeast to take our kids for their spring break. This was by far the best property we've ever found on VRBO...it's an extremely beautiful and clean cabin on the best lake in the Southeastern U.S. with the best Hosts you could find. I took my family of 5 with 3 children under six and couldn't be happier with this decision. We will be returning!

Amazing house with an amazing view!

This cabin is even better than the pictures can show! My husband and I rent a cabin every New Years with a group of friends, mostly couples. There was plenty of space for all of us to gather together! The lake and Mountain View is unbelievable. We had one minor issue with a door when we first arrived and the owner was incredibly responsive and got it fixed in no time! The WiFi was better than any mountain cabin we’ve been to. The kitchen is well stocked and there was ample firewood for the inside and outside fire place/pit. We will definitely be rebooking for next year.

Wildops North Carolina August 2023

First off the setting for the Bearfoot Lodge is stunning, the pictures don't do it justice. The house is fantastic, it is well appointed, immaculately clean and well organized. We held a veterans retreat here and stayed for six days with a total of 12 men, everyone was comfortable and enjoyed every minute of their stay. There's so much to do on the property, from enjoying the beautiful view from the decks, taking a dip in the hot tub or kayaking from the dock. Also, there are a few spots to find some peace and quiet and just relax. The check in and out process was very easy, there's a simple guide provided that explains any detail about the house, directions and area attractions. The owners communicated extremely well from the beginning to the end. I can't recommend it enough, I would absolutely stay here again should the opportunity arise.

Absolutely perfect

Our two family's stayed (Four adults & three children) for 5 days and absolutely loved it. The moment you walk into the house you are greeted with stunning panoramic views of the lake and the mountains. The house is equipped with every detail that you could need. They even had little packages of marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores which we enjoyed at the fire pit almost every night. The kitchen was very well appointed. The kids loved the bunk beds and they even had a pack and play for our 6 month old. The lake toys in the garage came to great use and the kiddos loved catching fish from the dock. Words really can't describe the beauty of the location and the home. A true luxurious mountain log cabin feel. We can't wait to go back and spend more time at the lodge!

We absolutely loved this property and its hosts. We have stayed many places over the years and this has surpassed the others by a long shot. The hosts were very active with communication, the property was amazing and the location was even more amazing. In the past we have ran in to issues where we didn’t have things we may have needed throughout the house (pans, dish soap, etc), absolutely not the case here. They have everything you need! We recommend this place 1000 times over and can’t wait to come back!
