It was a great week. Daughter and grand daughter went over to the club and swam in pool and went to beachl
Said it was great. I had a small pet and she could go for walks. She did not like the rocks but made out ok. Some in the group went fishing at the marina. Grand daughter and husband fished from the dock out back. Had great fun.
The place was bright, perfectly located and had all we needed! The cool part was it had a freezer outdoors for bait for my son to fish! We saw manatees daily and had the closest access to the open ocean! The cabana club was awesome and the pool was nice and cool! We will be back! 5 star!!
The house is ideally located in the Middle Keys, Marathon area. Great restaurants are all minutes away and so are all the water activities you may want to try. Great for people who love fishing. My husband and sons auto got up at 430 am and fished off the dock. One can catch snapper, croaker and mojarro 6 to 9 inches big off the dock. You can also watch manatees, sting rays and barracuda feed right from the dock. The private beach is all but a 5 to 8 minute walk down the street. So a little bit of everything for everyone.
Just returned a week ago. The property is clean, large and in a great location. AC worked great. Yard is nice. Well equipped house for a week's stay. Walking distance to Havana Jacks and the Cabana Club. The Cabana club was a nice bonus for an option to cool off. We brought some kayaks with us which were nice to paddle down the canal and into the open water. The kids enjoyed catching mangrove snapper off the dock and the visit by the manatee. First time staying in Key Colony. It is one of the nicest communities in the Keys. We'll be back. Next time with a boat.
The property was as listed and perfect for someone bringing a boat. The canal is deep and wide with easy access to the ocean. All of the neighbors were great. You can catch fish right off the deck and we had a manatee that hung around and loved getting a fresh drink of water from the hose. Our house host, Jane, was very helpful and quick to work through all of our questions.
The only thing that was completely overrated for us was the Cabana Club. Yes you can access it but make no mistake, this is a business with set hours and wanting to simply sell you drinks. The Cabana Club staff is nice but If you want to just go stand on the beach at daylight for a few minutes of solitude you can count on being harassed by the neighboring motel female manager that likes to hear herself talk. The pool and beach are nice but there is not much room.
If we vacation in the Marathon area again we would look at this property again. Being closer to a public beach or getting a house with a pool would be the only things that would suit our family better.

We loved this house. Have stayed ih this area for 18 years and this was the best house EVER.....We bought a new coffee pot for the house as the old one was VERY VERY Slow...( we left it on the counter with the new one)....Great house with so much to offer. Lots of shade in the evening where you could sit and watch the boats travel down the canal....Would love to stay here FOREVER....Kitchen had everything we needed!!! We also left beach towels for the next people. If traveling with pets they have the wet stiffer. We left all our supplies for the next pet owner renter..LOVED THE HOUSEl......WOULD RATE IT A 10...
We enjoyed our two week stay at this property in Key Colony Beach. The main reason for the 5-star rating is its location on the canal and the access to the Cabana Beach Club, a short walk or bike ride away. The pool, beach & drinks at the Cabana Club were wonderful!! The unit (a duplex) was large and the king bed & sheets in the master were very comfortable. The home was very clean and the indoor/outdoor furniture comfortable. However, there were some short-comings that did make me consider rating it a 4-star: Several bath towels were worn with near holes; a new (programmable) coffee pot would be nice, making coffee in the morning was slow; the knives were not sharp; we would have liked to use the (2) kayaks on the property--if they weren't a significant ($120 ea.) extra charge. It was sometimes tough on the hot days seeing the kayaks & not being able to use free of charge. It would have been nice if they were included in the rental rate--as with other rentals we've stayed at or viewed. Overall, a decent, comfortable stay & would recommend ; but some inside updates would be a nice improvement.
We really enjoyed our time at this property and we did everything there was to do in the Keys. It’s an hour from Key West. You can easily park at the park and ride garage, ride the Duval Loop or walk all over old town. We enjoyed snorkelling right in Key Colony Beach at Deep Blue Diving. We would stay again if we were in the area.
What We Liked:
Key Colony Beach (KCB) is such a great place for families. 2 Playgrounds + Community Yard Games (Bocce, Shuffleboard, Horseshoes) + Community Pool / Beach + Walk / Bike Restaurants + dock at the house for kayaking / boating / fishing. House had everything you'd need for a great stay (comfortable / cozy), and the hosts were great.
What we didn't like:
Our kids are young, and so sometimes their sibling rivalry is loud, and we just felt bad about being so close to the neighbors (who were awesome and said it was fine, but it's like being on a flight with a loud kid...just awkward). Couches and outdoor furniture could be even better, but they worked for the week.
Overall we'd definitely stay in KCB again, and in this particular property once our kids are a bit more quiet :)
Our family had great time staying at this property. The house was clean, had everything necessary, and big enough for our family of seven. It’s located in quiet neighborhood within the short walk to the beach and short drive to the Dolphin Research Center, Turtle Hospital, Aquarium, shopping and dining. And Key West is only about an hour away. We definitely planning on returning!
Keys was always on our bucket list, Not only was it a vacation it was also Celebration to 2nd chance of life after battling cancer & being Cancer free Things we loved Sparky's & Havana Jack's & Key West, Cabana Club we went there every day & being able to go out and fish & having a place to park the boat. & The canal is just so peaceful & enjoy seeing the manatees. Thank you for opening your beautiful home up to us for the week!
The property is perfectly situated one block from the Cabana Club, which was perfect and made our stay amazing. There are restaurants and sunset parks and play parks within Key Colony.
The duplex was very clean and comfortable we enjoyed our stay and would love to return soon.
Excellent house, just like described, and what really made the experience enjoyable were the wonderful neighbors, who were kind enough to show us the manatees and teach the kids the basics of fishing. We had a great time!
