About this property

Always Channel-On Muskegon Channel, walk to lighthouse, beach, the DECK & swim.

Wake up to the channel just outside your door. Start the coffee, step onto the front patio, and watch boats and freighters make their way between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. It's the kind of view that makes you sit down for five more minutes — and then maybe five more after that.

Welcome to Always Channel — our Surf Shack on the Muskegon Channel. This bright 2-bedroom, 2-bath home sleeps up to 8 and gives you a front-row seat to one of Muskegon's most unique waterfront settings. Pere Marquette Beach, the pier, and the lighthouse are just a 10-minute walk away, while downtown Muskegon, parks, trails, restaurants, and year-round attractions are an easy drive.

THE CHANNEL IS THE EXPERIENCE

Life here naturally centers around the water — no matter the season.

In summer, grab the beach gear and head to Pere Marquette, ride the bikes through Lakeside, or settle into a chair and watch the steady parade of boats on the channel.

Fall brings a completely different side of Muskegon. Crisp mornings are made for coffee on the patio, walks along the waterfront, fall colors, and afternoons exploring the lakeshore without the summer crowds. Come back, settle in, and watch the channel change as the sun goes down.

Winter is quieter still. Explore Muskegon's winter activities, take a cold-weather walk along Lake Michigan, head downtown for dinner, or simply enjoy having a comfortable home base by the water.

And when spring arrives, the lakeshore starts waking up all over again.

Whatever brings you to Muskegon, the channel has a way of becoming part of your stay.

ROOM FOR EVERYONE

Inside, the open layout gives everyone space to be together without feeling crowded.

The primary suite has two queen beds and a private full bath, making it especially convenient for families or groups. The second bedroom has two twin beds with another full bath nearby, and the queen sleeper sofa in the living room provides additional sleeping space.

With two full bathrooms and sleeping accommodations for up to 8 guests, the Surf Shack works beautifully for families, couples traveling together, or a Muskegon getaway with friends.

OUTDOOR LIVING — FRONT AND BACK

The front patio is where you'll find one of the best seats in the house: your view of the Muskegon Channel. Bring out your morning coffee, watch the boats go by, or simply sit for a while and enjoy being near the water.

Out back, you'll find a fully fenced yard with an outdoor bar, grill, propane fire table, and string lights overhead. It's an easy place to cook dinner, let the dogs outside, or spend an evening together after a day exploring Muskegon.

PACK LESS — WE'VE GOT THE FUN STUFF

One of our favorite things about hosting is making vacation a little easier.

You'll find bikes, beach chairs, a beach wagon, umbrella, beach toys, and baby gear ready to use. Instead of filling the car with everything you might need, you can arrive and start enjoying your stay.

DOGS ARE WELCOME HERE

We know a vacation isn't quite the same when part of the family has to stay home.

Up to two dogs are welcome, with no pet fee. The fully fenced backyard makes outside time easier, and we've added thoughtful dog-friendly touches inside the home as well.

CLOSE TO THE PLACES YOU CAME TO MUSKEGON TO ENJOY

The Surf Shack gives you a waterfront setting without putting you far away from everything else.

You're approximately a 10-minute walk to Pere Marquette Beach, the pier, and the lighthouse, and within easy reach of downtown Muskegon, Heritage Landing, Muskegon State Park, the Winter Sports Complex, Kruse Park's dog beach, restaurants, trails, and other local attractions.

Whether you're coming for the beach, hockey, a concert or festival, fall colors, winter adventures, a weekend with the dogs, or simply a few days away, you'll have an easy home base for exploring Muskegon.

A LITTLE BACKSTORY

For nearly 18 years, we drove past this little house on the channel and dreamed about what it could be.

It started as a small cinder-block place — nothing fancy — but every time we passed it, we'd say the same thing:

"If we had that house, we would do this... or that."

We rarely saw anyone there. It always seemed to be sitting quietly on the channel, waiting.

Then one day, we got our chance.

We scrambled. We moved fast. And after almost 18 years of imagining what we would do with that little house, it became ours.

Inside, it was basically a shell. Nothing was finished. And that's when Gino said:

"Let's create the best surf shack in Muskegon."

So that's what we set out to do.

Today, it's a place where families gather, dogs get to come along, guests sit outside watching boats they weren't expecting to see, and mornings have a funny way of starting a little slower than planned.

Welcome to Always Channel. This is the little dream that took us 18 years to get here. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

About the host

Host profile image

I love being a host because it allows me to bring each home to life and share the character of the community I live in. Being local, I have a deep connection to these homes and the Muskegon area. My goal is to create spaces where guests can truly relax and feel at home, whether they’re visiting for adventure, rest, or time together. Every home is designed with comfort, warmth, and a sense of belonging in mind.

Why they chose this property

This home has been a dream of ours for more than 17 years. My husband and I used to pass by it on our boat, admiring it from the water and imagining what it might be like to one day call it our own. When the opportunity finally came, we knew it was something truly special.

Today, this home reflects that long-held dream—thoughtfully cared for, full of light, and meant to be enjoyed on the water. Every detail was chosen with pride and intention, and our hope is that when you stay here, you feel the same sense of ease, joy, and appreciation for this place that we do every time we arrive

What makes this property unique

This home has long been a favorite along the channel. Boaters often pass by and point it out, recognizing it as one of those places that simply stands out. There’s something special about its setting, its presence on the water, and the way it invites you to slow down and enjoy where you are. Now, you get to experience it for yourself—right on the channel, surrounded by views, movement, and a sense of being exactly where you want to be.
