The Nest is the best! Excellent hosts! Excellent location to the park. Beautiful peaceful place to relax after a long day of exploring. Highly recommend
Robin's Nest was a great place to stay. We had about a one hour drive to Yosemite Valley. Robyn and Trace were fantastic hosts and gave us wonderful information about Yosemite and surrounding area. Our room was spacious, clean and perfect for us. We'd certainly stay there again.
Excellent value for a stay for two. We loved the home - just right, great location, and quiet. We would like to give a special shout-out to the owners - they are the best. They are prompt with replies and took time to talk to us about Yosemite and the area surrounding Mariposa. We have never felt so welcome in a VRBO home. Thank you!
Everything was wonderful, my husband said he wished we could always stay in such a nice place when we were on vacation. Good location for Yosemite. Hosts very friendly and accommodating.
The property was outstanding. Comfortable, well furnished and we were not left needing anything. Plenty of resources available to plan your stay if needed and the hosts even asked prior to our visit to see if they could offer any advice.
The hosts were so generous and thoughtful at every opportunity. I have never stayed with such lovely people.
Wonderful location . Ease to Yosemite was quintessential. Best part of the stay were our hosts. Couldn’t ask for more welcoming, friendly hosts that go above and beyond to ensure your experience is the best it possibly can ! Trace was integral in info about Yosemite. Robn was so kind , they both just added so much to an already amazing vacation. Will book again without hesitation!! Great experience!!
Absolutely a 5 star experience. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood just outside of downtown Mariposa and perfectly poised for launching day trips to Yosemite. The gracious, friendly hosts are lifelong locals who are glad to make suggestions for dining, shopping and exploring the area including Yosemite. The unit is quiet and spotlessly clean and is supplied with linens, a comfortable bed, coffee maker, microwave and hot plate and full size fridge. Bright and airy with lovely views out to the pool and garden, it's really the perfect little spot to recharge at the end of a day of sighteeing or begin the day with a cup of coffee watching the sun rise. Would highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again!
I have been to Yosemite 6 days
Most of the time hiking, and just a little bit hanging around.
I came without any specific plan what I want to do or see, so the experience of Trace as a park ranger was a great helpful, he helped me a lot with building my day hikes.
The nest was exactly what I looked for,
Neat and well clean, privte, and gives exactly what I needed after a long day of hiking.
And the amazing hospitality of Robn and Trace was unseperted part from whole the great time I had in Yosemite.
This was an absolutely perfect place to stay. It looks good online and it comes to life when you walk through the gate to the back yard where the entrance to your cottage is.
The cottage is spotless and loveley, the couch and the bed are incredibly comfortable, and the sheets are dreamy soft. There is plenty of privacy and so many places to sit and drink coffee or eat outside. The gardens are beautiful and it so peaceful and quiet. You do get use the pool anytime if you'd like!
The hosts are so kind and generous and getting to meet them and visit with them was a huge surprise bonus for our trip. They were also so helpful with regards to planning pur time on Yosemite.
While we used the Robin's Nest as iur homebase for multiple day trips to Yosemite, we really enjoyed the town of Mariposa as well. Lots of great little local shops and some delicious food in unique restaurants.
Stay Here!
This lovely cottage is our favorite place to stay in Mariposa. Close to downtown for shopping and restaurants. Very quiet and peaceful. A Mariposa gem!
Trace and Robin were great hosts! It was an awesome place to stay convenient to town and great restaurants and very quiet. It was clean and comfortable. It had an awesome little kitchenette that we used to make coffee provided by Trace and Robin. Very convenient to either entrance of Yosemite. Very knowledgeable hosts about the area and the National Park. I would to stay there again sometime.
The Nest was a beautiful home that was centrally located and the perfect point to support our expeditions to Kings Ca yon,Sequoia, Yosemite and San Francisco. Robn and Trace were perfect hosts and even tossed in some excellent cookies during our stay. This was an excellent vacation.
This lovely cottage is a gem! It has everything you need for a relaxing visit. Downtown is close by for shopping and dining. We enjoy staying here every time we visit Mariposa.
Great little "in law" studio apartment adjoining the hosts' home (attached to structure but separate in every way). Wonderful, friendly hosts, Trace is a treasure trove of knowledge about Yosemite. And has deep connections to it (ask him about his personal story if you rent the place).Hwy 140 was unfortunately blocked off just prior to my visit, and the hosts contacted me offering me the flexibility to reschedule my trip (I did not, as I had planned from before and did not have the flexibility).I enjoyed my stay very much and will be back to explore Yosemite some more.
My husband and I loved staying at this lovely cottage very much. Perfect for a relaxing get away or vacation. Very quiet and peaceful. We look forward to staying here again soon.

Hosts are friendly and hospitable.
The coziest home away from home near Yosemite. Hosts Robn and Trace are really great people and their recommendations and knowledge about hikes in the area is a huge plus. There are so many sweet, thoughtful touches in the guest house that make it the perfect place to stay. This was our second time visiting and we can’t wait to come back!
We had a great stay at Robin’s Nest. The place was very clean and spacious for our two nights. Trace and Robn were hospitable and provided plentiful suggestions for visiting Yosemite. The hosts were available when we needed them, and they gave us space when necessary. We would love to stay here again!

About the host
Hosted by Robn and Trace DeSandres
Trace, my husband was born in Yosemite Valley and raised just outside the Park in El Portal. He was a back-country ranger for eleven seasons and retired in 2020 after teaching for 34 years. Trace is proud to say he has hiked the majority of the trails in the Park and would love to share suggestions on places to hike and explore making your stay even more enjoyable. Robn grew up in Mariposa and is also a retired educator. A love of gardening and recently becoming a Master Gardener has kept Robn busy working in her yard and garden. She also loves to bake and looks forward to spending time doing lots and lots of reading. It brings us an enormous about of pleasure to share our love of the Sierra Foothills and Yosemite with our guests.
