Hayden Retreat

We loved this house. As the photos reflect, it is dated (but in a good way). Feels like a cabin on the lake. The longer we stayed, the more we loved it. The views were exceptional, and the eagles flying over (and even landing in the yard) were amazing. The two living areas were perfect for my family to spread out and everyone have their own space. The drive to town is long and very winding, so I wouldn't plan to do that a lot. Great dock for the boat and hanging out, and the house is located at the end of a quiet road. I'd definitely stay here again.

Thank you for such a kind review 💛 We’re so glad you fell in love with the home and its incredible views—it truly is such a special, peaceful spot. Sounds like you got quite the treat with the eagle sightings too! We’d love to have you back anytime.

Unfortunately, our experience at this property was not what we expected. The biggest issue was an ongoing mouse problem that we were not made aware of prior to our stay. A couple staying with us could hear mice moving around inside the walls, and we personally encountered two mice downstairs during our stay. Had we known this was an existing issue beforehand, it absolutely would have affected our decision to book.Cleanliness was also disappointing. The vacuum was full of dirt and hair from previous guests, and we found dishes with smudges and hair on them. We were also not provided with enough laundry pods for the length of our stay, which felt like a small but frustrating oversight considering the cost of the rental. We brought these concerns forward and did receive some compensation, but we did not feel the amount offered fairly reflected the severity of the mouse issue or the impact it had on our stay, particularly since this appeared to be an ongoing problem that had not been disclosed to us.The property is also located at the furthest end of the lake from town, which is something future guests may want to be aware of when planning groceries, outings, or meals. On a positive note, the lake itself is beautiful, and we enjoyed the setting and the time we were able to spend on the water. Unfortunately, the undisclosed mouse problem, cleanliness issues, and how our concerns were ultimately handled significantly overshadowed the positives of our stay.

The location of this lake house is fantastic (5 stars) — right on the water with easy lake access and a convenient boat slip. It’s hard to beat the setting if you’re looking to spend time on the lake. That said, the home itself is overpriced for what it offers. While the cabin had the basics, it’s quite dated and not entirely renter-ready (3 stars). For example, noise easily travels from the main floor to the basement — making it difficult for anyone sleeping downstairs to get rest, especially with the loud sound of toilets flushing above. The biggest disappointment was the **major construction project** happening directly next door. Construction vehicles were active all day, starting early in the morning on weekdays, with some even parked partially on the rental property. This was not disclosed in the listing, and given the scale of the project, it seems clear that this has been ongoing — and will continue — for some time. The noise and disruption were a significant drawback to an otherwise peaceful location. Fortunately, the management company was responsive and agreed to issue a partial discount after we raised the issue.I do want to call out that the management team was helpful and accommodating overall. When we discovered there was no coffee grinder or tea kettle, they sent someone out to drop them off promptly.Overall, we enjoyed the lake itself, but the value doesn’t quite match the price — especially with the active construction and the cabin’s dated condition.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We’re so glad you enjoyed the beautiful lakefront location and that our team could be there to support you during your stay. We’re very sorry for the disruption from the neighboring construction—we know how much that can impact the experience, and while it’s outside of our control, we appreciated the chance to offer a partial discount and to make sure your immediate needs, like the kettle and grinder, were met right away. Your comments about the home itself are also greatly appreciated and will be shared with the owner. We’d truly love the opportunity to welcome you back for an even smoother and more relaxing stay. 💙
